About Jim Saunders

Owners are life-long natives to Paso Robles. Have lived across the street from this home for many years. They are the owners of HEARST RANCH Winery with their vineyards directly across the street from this home.

One of the few native Vintners born in Paso Robles.

Two sons. Both work in either the family construction business or at winery. They have a passion for making fine wines and being able to live in this wonderful area. Tasting rooms are located in San Simeon as well as across the street from this unique home in Paso Robles.

Jim Saunders purchased this house in 2014

Why Jim Saunders chose Paso Robles

This property became available in early 2014. When we realized it was an original adobe, built not long after the San Miguel Mission, we knew we had something special. The original home was built from adobe blocks that were handmade from soil in the area by the mission, by local artisans. We have kept two small areas of the walls exposed so you can see the beauty in the blocks that were handmade.

What makes this house unique

The exterior walls in the original home are approximately two feet thick.

This keeps the home at a very even temperature in Summer and Winter.

It is conveniently located on River Road about 4 1/2 miles North of Paso Robles. This makes it very private, yet easy to get to and from shopping and local restaurants.

The home is also very close (about 4 1/2 miles) to the historic San Miguel Mission, one of the original 27 Historic Missions in California, which was recently, beautifully rebuilt after the devastating 2003 Earthquake.

We are located very close to many wineries such as:

Hearst Ranch Winery (across the street)

JLohr (two miles)

Villa San Juliette (five miles)

Locatelli Vineyards

Riverstar Vineyards

Tackett Family Vineyards

Graveyard Vineyards

Eberle

Robert Hall

Vina Robles

And MANY more

A getaway gem

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at the house and highly recommend it for anyone looking to getaway to Paso Robles. The house is in beautiful condition and clean and has all the amenities you could want. The bathrooms and kitchen are all updated and feel modern while still being charming and fitting in with the theme of the house. The beds were very comfortable. The remote controlled fireplaces were awesome. We'd come back!

Another EXCELLENT weekend!

  • 5 of 5

This was the second year that we rented this magnificent house with 3 other couples - 4 bedroom/4 bathroom is nearly impossible to find. And once again the house, the property, the weather, and the entire weekend was just awesome. This year we planned ahead and Jim (owner) gave us a personal tour of the Hearst winery and the new tasting room! Love, love, love our Paso home! We will be back every year!

Great Weekend

  • 5 of 5

The house is an old 1,800's adobe that has been completely restored and appointed to a very high standard while still adhering to an old world look and feel. Two master suites have been added that are quite large and comfortable. The large dining room off the kitchen becomes the gathering spot with views of the adjacent fields and farm. The setting is idyllic, a few minutes from town, out a quiet road, situated in a planted field just across from the host winery. Complementary wine and cheese as well as management that is close at hand, willing and ready to make your stay memorable. We'll be back.

Cowboy dreams in Wine Country

  • 5 of 5

What a great house! You feel like you've entered a Western movie and yet you're only 10 minutes from downtown Paso Robles...and this adobe has all the amenities. The kitchen is stocked as well as any rental I've stayed in with wine and cheese as welcome gifts. The bedrooms are beautifully decorated, flat screen TV's in most of the rooms, small but nicely appointed bathrooms, and gas fireplaces that add to the ambience and warmth of the house. Be sure to check out the framed example of the original adobe bricks used in the walls...

I would highly recommend this rental and the owner is prompt and easy to deal with...thank you for a great weekend!
