Sit on the balcony and see the whales jump while having your morning coffee. For hiking the East Coast Trail begins at our boundary. It is 23 kms to the St. John's International Airport (YYT). See icebergs and breathe the salt air.
I was born and raised in Pouch Cove and my family also lives here. I lived in Labrador City for 12 years from 1965 to 1977 and my son and daughter were born there. I moved back in 1977 and built this house that I am currently renting. I have an unobstructed view of the Atlantic ocean and it is approximately 50 feet from my door. I decided to rent my home because I am a cancer survivor and want to retain my home. I am not yet ready to sell. And this keeps me busy and I meet lots of wonderful people.

We enjoyed a 3 night stay in this wonderful family home, in a great location. We so appreciate the fact that the owners are animal lovers...they let us bring our dogs with us, without a fuss and at no extra charge. We love the location! It is only a short drive from all the amenities of St. Johns and yet you get to stay in a small historic community, with access to the east coast trail. The trail literally goes by the back door. The home itself is welcoming and has everything you could possibly need for a short or long stay. We would definitely stay here again.
If you are looking for a tranquil, homey getaway, Sarah's place might be exactly what you are in need of! The family property is situated right on the water, the slightest hint of the waves crashing on the shore below can be heard. Loud enough to be a comfort for those who relax around water. Quiet enough to not disturb a peaceful evening.
We were welcomed warmly, and felt right at home during our weekend escape. Our dogs were welcomed too, without question! I only wish we could've stayed longer. We sure are hoping to return! Thanks Sarah!!!
We had a fantastic time at our home away on Pouch Cove. The view of the ocean was a dream. The house and property itself was even more beautiful than the pictures on the website. The kitchen was really large and well stocked with anything we needed. The beds were super-cozy and the accommodations were clean and comfortable. Sarah and JJ were helpful and very welcoming. The resident pony, Trinity, only added to the overall charm. If you are a hiker, it is a paradise. There are blueberries everywhere on your hike. If you just want to relax, you have come to the perfect place. St. Johns is not far away at all and there is everything there that you need. It's fun for shopping, sightseeing, restaurants, etc. We loved our home away experience and really do want to go back there soon. I would highly recommend out accommodations in Pouch Cove to anyone.
Sarah and her family were very welcoming. The house is very large and well stocked with all of the supplies that you could need. The location is very scenic and having the eastern coastal trail at the doorstep was amazing. We would definitely come back.
Sarah and family were welcoming but stayed out of your way unless needed Trinity the newfoundland pony was a nice extra. Home had character and a homey feel to it could not ask much more for the dollar value would definitely stay again if back in the area.
Detailed driving directions from St. John's International Airport. Leave Airport via World Parkway Drive. Drive 1 km to intersection of Portugal Cove Rd. Turn left and drive 1.4 km to intersection of Airport Hgts. Drive. Turn left onto Majors Path. Drive 1 km to Torbay Rd. Turn left onto Torbay Rd. Drive .5 km to Stavenger Drive (if you want to buy groceries on your way) Turn right onto Stavenger Drive. Dominion Supermarket is on left and Costco is on right. After you leave Stavenger Drive turn right onto Torbay Rd and continue for 2.1 km to intersection of Jack Byrne Arena, then another .2 km to next light and turn left onto ByPass Road. Drive straight through two lights/intersections and you will arrive in Flatrock. OR you could go straight through Torbay after Jack Byrne Arena light and drive 4.5 km to Foodland Grocery in Torbay. After leaving Foodland drive 2.5 km and reach intersection of ByPass/Flatrock. Drive another 9.2 km and you will reach 592 Main Road (small white bungalow) turn right in front of white bungalow and drive over long driveway to red house which is 592B Main road. You have arrived.
