Cocoa Girl Cottage is a recently remodeled 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom vacation rental home in Cocoa, Florida. This fun retro themed home is in a quiet family oriented neighborhood perfectly located one mile south of the Beachline (SR 528), between U.S. 1 and the beautiful Indian River, and is only 40 minutes from Orlando International Airport. Because it is 'off ocean' it is more reasonably priced, allowing your vacation budget to go further so you can enjoy the numerous Central Florida attractions that are all within a 60 minute drive.
There is a small neighborhood park located directly across the street, with a picnic area and children's play equipment. Walk through it and you are only steps from McFarland Park, a public park on the Indian River with a picnic area, dock, and boat ramp for small boats. Bicycles and a canoe are provided with the house allowing leisurely rides or paddles along Scenic Indian River Drive, with its assortment of historic mansions and charming bungalows leading you to Historic Cocoa Village.
Cocoa Village is located on the waterfront and has an assortment of unique shops, restaurants and bars (no chains or outlets here!), and the Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse community theater. This charming waterfront park has a large playground and amphitheatre and hosts many festivals and concerts throughout the year. The boat ramp is ideal for launching large boats and guests can launch here and pick up the family from the dock's end at Cocoa Girl's neighboring McFarland Park.
Recognizable nearby attractions are provided below:
- Port Canaveral and the Cruise Ships: 10 minutes. This area has lots of fun dining, a viewing tower, large boat ramp, fishing charters, and the closest beach at Jetty Park.
- Famous Cocoa Beach & Ron Jon's Surf Shop: 20 minutes.
- Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex: 25 minutes.
- Walt Disney World, Sea World, and Universal Studios: Less than 60 minute drive along major interstates.
Antique and vintage shops, and unique gift and foodie shops are abundant in the area, making this a great locale for a girlfriend’s getaway. Many of the furnishings in the home are from these local haunts.
There are original heart of pine hard wood floors throughout the home and granite counter-tops and high end stainless steel appliances in the kitchen. The bedrooms are large with plenty of closet space, and queen sized beds in the master and second bedroom. The third has a full sized Lazy Boy sofa bed, which is very comfortable. The bathrooms have been remodeled to embrace their retro past, with sinks placed in repurposed furniture and newly tiled with black and white retro floors. The owners have lovingly restored this home and there is a blog about the transition at
There is an efficiency apartment in the garage with a separate entrance, which the owner uses for personal storage. This area will not accessed during your stay. If you have an overflow of guests, the owner may make this apartment available for a small additional cost.
We have always enjoyed traveling with our family and learned quickly that vacation rental homes made everyone happier and more comfortable. After renting our second home for years to long-term rentals, we decided to turn it into a vacation rental so families, like ours, could enjoy it too. We had a lot of fun remodeling the home over the past couple of years. We watched lots of HGTV! There were lots of great shopping trips to the local antique and vintage stores to doll her up. A few thrift stores too! Pete works in Melbourne for a big corporation and Donna works as a paralegal in Winter Park, FL. We both love the Cocoa area to rest after a crazy week of work. Our family and friends enjoy coming over for BBQ"s, a glass of wine and a lively game of Dominoes. Donna is a native of Florida and Pete is a 1950's immigrant from Cuba, growing up in Miami. We have two grown daughters who also live and work in the area. As always, we are currently planning our next vacation and are looking through this site for a home to rent! We hope you have a great vacation. If you stay at our place, we hope we get to meet you and hear your plans.
Donna Olavarria purchased this house in 2003
We bought this property because it in a perfect location for travel between the Orlando area and the beach. When visiting, we can quickly get back to our main home near Orlando if necessary. The house is in a quiet, family oriented neighborhood only 1 block away from the amazing Indian River. Our favorite thing to do is to take walks along the river front. We instantly relax, once the water is in view. We can quickly get to adorable Cocoa Village and be on the beach within minutes. We find that we are never in want of anything to do here. We hope to retire in this home someday.
--Within steps of the beautiful Indian River.
--Gorgeous wooden floors.
--Remodeled to embrace it's 1950's retro past.
--Comfortable furniture and rooms.
We rented this house for three months, we couldn't be happier with the house, the location, or our landlords (who are just plain great people). We enjoyed every single day of our stay . . . The house is well appointed, I never wanted for anything that they didn't already have at the house, including bikes, boogie boards, beach chairs, umbrellas and towels (they even had a tire pump for the bikes). The kitchen is small but beautiful, all of the appliances in the house are top shelf, the bathrooms are spotless. The house is located a block off the Indian River, we went on daily walks and bike rides along one of the most beautiful streets I have ever seen in the US (it stretches out for over nine miles). You are three miles from Cocoa Village, home of Ryan's Pizza (and bar), a place we spent way too much time at. The beach is fifteen minutes away, we usually went to Lori Wilson Park, with the boogie boards. We are renting in a different city for Jan to Mar of 2018, but we would readily come back in 2019 . . .
This is a place that we would stay in again! It was very beautiful and very comfortable. I felt like I could live there. We enjoyed our visit and plan to stay here again! The only think I regret is we had to leave earlier then expected due to a family emergency. The is a perfect area if you plan to visist Disney and want to stay away from the tourist area. Also it is very close to the beach. We also visited the Space Center which was fun. Lots of restaurants to try in the area.
Cocoa Cottage is where my family stayed for Spring break 2017 and it was absolutely perfect!
The owner is an angel and goes above and beyond to make your stay perfect, the house is decorated in a French Chic, classy and comfortable, it is absolutely stocked with everything from essentials to non essentials! There's a shed in the back that was filled with bikes, surfboards, boogie boards, umbrellas and everything you would typically have to rent readily available! Our stay was FABULOUS! We were right around the corner from downtown Cocoa and a straight shot to the beach! I would definitely recommend everyone stay there and plan to go back more!
The home is very close to the river and conveniently located for fun at Cocoa Beach or Disney. We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is immaculate and really cozy and comfortable. I love the beach motif and all the amenities. It's located in a nice and safe neighborhood. Donna was lovely and always available when we needed her. We will definitely be staying here again!
Beautiful home, centrally located and close to shopping and other activities. House is homey, clean and comfortable. Everything you need is there and then some. It's open, large and airy. The bedrooms and closets are large. You'll not feel cramped in this charming house. Donna was nice to work with and I thank her very much. The welcome basket was wonderful.
The house was wonderful and Donna was very helpful and nice. The location was great and very convenient for us. We wish we could have stayed longer. We really did enjoy the house.
The home is in a great location allowing you to enjoy all that Central Florida has to offer. Day trips from the home will get you easily to all the theme parks, Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, etc. Cocoa Beach is minutes away. The cruise ships are minutes away. You will never be at a loss for something to do. We have a notebook in the home, full of ideas to fill your days, from fishing, canoeing, antique/vintage store shopping, golfing, boating and so much more. Our home is within minutes of a major road (SR 528) also known as the Beach Line, that will get you quickly to all sorts of fun spots. The home is priced right, allowing you to spend more of your vacation dollars on adventures rather than on lodging. Let the adventure begin!
