Former farmhouse in own grounds, secluded and very peaceful location with stream
About Paul Connolly
After holidaying in Llangrannog for the last 7 years, Cil-y-Gorwel came up for sale. It was in a sorry state after a fire in the kitchen leaving the house open to the elements and severely damaged. As keen DIY'rs (and with the help of some excellent local tradesmen) my wife and I took the plunge and purchased the property with the view to breathing some life back into it and undertaking a complete renovation. Hopefully you will be able to see from the photographs that we are starting to achieve our end goal to completely transform the property. We visit the house as much as possible and just love the area and friendly warm welcome we have received from the local community.
Paul Connolly purchased this Farmhouse in 2015

Wonderful Welsh retreat
We had a fantastic two weeks here, enjoying the huge garden and hot tub. The property is great and the kitchen well equipped! Would definitely be back in a heartbeat. Thanks
Thanks Charles and family for the great review we are so glad you enjoyed the farmhouse and grounds as much as we do.
Lovely property in a gorgeous and unspoiled corner of Wales
Fantastic property on the outskirts of Llangrannog. Modern facilities and the wood fired hot tub kept my husband busy for the week.
Wonderful stay here - will be back I'm sure of it and would 100% recommend a stay here.
Wonderful relaxing stay in a fab property with a perfect location.
We had the pleasure of a fantastic family holiday at Cil-y-gorwel. Cath and Paul had thought of everything you could want and it made for an great week. Booking was simple and our hosts supplied all the instructions we needed to have a hassle free stay. The hot tub was great and was fabulous to kick back in after a long day exploring the area and we enjoyed playing pool and cooking pizzas in the wood fired pizza oven. We were a group of 7 with a baby and a dog and we had plenty of space. The huge garden was great for playing frisbee, football or cricket.
Cath and Paul left plenty of information and helpful tips to get the most out of the area and we particularly enjoyed walking the Ceredigion way along the coast, watching the dolphins from the boats out of New Quay harbour, visiting the Devil's bridge in the Rheidol valley and exploring castles in Cilgerran and Cardigan.
I can't recommend a stay at this property highly enough. It's a real gem. We'll be back!
Relaxing weekend enjoyed by all
Thank you Paul and Cath for a fantastic stay at Cil-y-Gorwel.
We have just spent the weekend at Gil-y-Gorwel, which had everything we needed to enjoy our stay and was exactly as described. The house felt very welcoming, was clean and is fully kitted out (especially the kitchen). The lounge is spacious but warm and cosy, made even better by their newly installed wood-burning stove. The secluded wood-fired hot tub was a real treat and easy to operate - not requiring much effort to get up to temperature. The tub was warm enough the night after use for a morning dip. The large but fully enclosed gardens were perfect for our dogs to safely explore and burn off some energy.
The house’s location means it just a short drive to the beach at Llangrannog or Penbryn. There are plenty of countryside walks on your doorstep.
Staying at Cil-y-Gorwel for us was like a home away from home and brought back memories for Rachel who had spent a lot of time in Ceredigion in her childhood. The house has everything you need to act as a base for exploring West Wales or for chilling out for a lazy weekend in the house enjoying everything it has to offer.
We’ve already booked our return stay and are looking forward to it. Would highly recommend.

Thank you for such a great review. It always make us happy to know our guests enjoy the house and grounds as much as we do. Looking forward to seeing you later in the year.
A lovely place. Huge and cosy. We all loved it.
Wood burning stove and hot tub were perfect. Beautifully clean, modernised period, huge, yet cosy old house. Kids loved the stream and the games room basement. Dogs loved the 2 acres. Lovely walks down to the coast. What a cool chilled out weekend for all of us. Happy days.
Thanks for the great review. We are so glad you enjoyed the farmhouse as much as we do.
high quality and value for money
Upon arrival Paul and Cath were extremely welcoming and provided all the information needed for the week. The accommodation is high quality in a quiet secluded spot. Paul and Cath have thought of everything you may need for the week and the kitchen is well stocked. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Best of all the baby monitor signal reached to the hot tub so we managed to get some relaxation after the baby went down! We will be booking again.
Thanks both for a great review so glad you enjoyed your stay and the hot tub too.
