About the property

The property is set on a working farm in Lumsden between the towns of nearby Alford & Huntly. The 'Stables ' comprises of 1 double bedroom & 1 bedroom that has a zip & link king size bed that can be converted to 2 singles . Each room has its own en-suite shower. Through the hallway you enter the open plan kitchen , lounge & dining room & here you can relax & look out onto the views of the stunning countryside. The property is double glazed with a wood burning stove & under floor heating. There is a patio area with a small lawn.Here you can relax & enjoy the fields of animals & wildlife on the Farm.

Nearby is the small town of Alford with local amenities & also The Grampian Transport Museum & The Alford Heritage Museum . There are many leisure activities nearby including walking , fishing , go - karting & golf. The Cairngorm National park is a 30 min drive away & if you enjoy skiing the Lecht & Aviemore ski resorts are open in the winter months . We are situated on the main route of the Castle trails & whisky distilleries. Visit the beautiful coastal towns of Portsoy & Newburgh & enjoy the stunning beaches of North East Scotland.The main city of Aberdeen is 45 minutes away with many museums , eateries & shopping . Aberdeen airport is a 30 minute drive to the property .

Please note that check in is from 3.30 pm & check out on your day of departure is 10.30am .

Please note that in JULY/AUGUST the minimum stay is 7 nights from SATURDAY to SATURDAY

We lamb from 17th March until mid April . if you would like to experience lambing we can offer 2, 3 or 7 day Lambing experience holidays.

BOGHEAD IS OWNED BY THOMAS & FIONA JACKSON & IS ALSO THE HOME TO THEIR SON EWAN , 4 DOGS, BRYN AND RED WHO ARE OUR WORKING SHEEPDOGS , STORM AND RUM THE WORKING COCKER SPANIELS , HARVEY THE GINGER CAT & BILL THE CLYDESDALE.

THOMAS IS A 5 GENERATION FARMER & FIONA WORKS PART TIME AS A QUALIFIED DENTAL NURSE IN ABERDEEN. EWAN IS AT NORTH EAST COLLEGE IN ABERDEEN.

WE MOVED HERE FROM GLOUCESTERSHIRE IN SEPTEMBER 2012 & HAVE SPENT OUR FIRST 4 YEARS REMOVING THE FARM BUILDINGS THAT HAD BEEN ERECTED IN THE 1950’S & ALSO RESTORING THE OLD STEADING & CONVERTING ‘THE STABLES ‘ INTO YOUR HOLIDAY ACCOMMADATION.

Notes:
Storage for bicycles, canoes etc in large drying room where damp clothing can be stored and dried. Private water supply. There is a small shop at the garage in the village which stocks papers, basic food and household items, as well as supplying fuel and garage and taxi services this is less than half a mile. There are supermarkets in Alford (Co-op) and Huntly (Asda and Tesco) both of these do home delivery if you want to order your shopping on line and have it delivered straight here. There is a bus service which runs through the village providing transport to Alford and Huntly and from there on to Aberdeen and Inverness 4 times a day and Strathdon and Insch, the bus stop is less than half a mile.

A peaceful retreat on this lovely farm. The conversion of the old stables into suites has been very well done. Comfortable, clean and well equipped. Certainly a place we would return to.

Fantastic setting, great location for access to all of Aberdeenshire and surrounding areas, including the Cairngorms. Fiona and Thomas were absolutely wonderful. Don’t miss Fiona’s photography. Absolutely stunning. The cottage is beautifully decorated, a very tranquil, peaceful spot. Highly recommended all around.

Great place for a quiet weekend

Thank you to Fiona (and Tom) for such a warm welcome to a wonderful place to retreat to and recharge the batteries. The Stables are all they say in the description and especially at this time of year (with snow on the ground when we arrived) were warm and cosy throughout. The property is well equipped with quality furnishings, and we enjoyed Fiona's photographs on the wall. We are sure we will return at some future date.
