Overview

About the property

Traditional stone house in seaside village. 3 beds, garden and two living rooms

The Artist House is situated in Cellardyke, a traditional East Neuk fishing village which connects to the relatively large village of Anstruther. Anstruther has a large harbour and accompanying shops, bars and cafes. The house is very well equipped and is on two floors. It has 3 king sized bedrooms, 2 large living rooms, a pretty, well equipped kitchen and bathroom with bath and shower. There is also a utility room with a washing machine and extra freezer space.

The house has been recently refurbished and is very comfortable and has everything you would need in a holiday home. The garden is well planted and very well sheltered and has a sitting area and large BBQ.

Parking is free and its easy to park in front or to the back of the house.

The Artist's House is on the second floor of a traditional stone building and is therefore not suitable for wheel chair access.

There is plenty of storage in the house and two eating areas, one with a glorious sea view and heaps of natural lighting. The view extends from The Isle of May to the east and the Bass Rock to the west.

About Jamie Robertson

Jamie and I live in the village next to Anstruther called Pittenweem. We have been in the area for 4 years and love it very much. It a brilliant area for couples, groups of people and families to enjoy as there is so much to do and see. We enjoy the fact that we live close to The Artist's House and can be on hand for our guests at any time, if needed.

Jamie Robertson purchased this house in 2016

Why Jamie Robertson chose Anstruther

We fell in love with The Artist House for its quirky, spacious living areas and its wonderful sea views. It was named (as you would expect) by an artist that loved the views and the abundance of natural light. It is ideally located 1 minute from the sea yet 5 mins walk from loads of different shop, pubs and restaurants. Anstruther and Celledyke are traditional fishing villages and are therefore very pretty. Both have harbour areas and are very popular with visitors.

What makes this house unique

The house is newly refurbished and very comfortable. It has a real character of its own with lots of arty features like the driftwood stair rail, the stone shelf in the bathroom and the space on the top floor which has all the light and views that befits an artist studio.

Spring break

  • 5 of 5

My partner and my children stayed here for five days. What a fantastic property! The standard was first class, beautiful décor and so in keeping with the picturesque seaside setting. A warm welcome from Jamie Robertson, we settled in quickly and was only a few minutes walk to Anstruther harbour. A wonderful wee town with a friendly atmosphere, the locals made us feel so welcome. Brilliant food, great as a base to explore the East Neuk and the local Fisheries Museum is a must.

The traditional style of the house was balanced with modern amenities. Each room was unique and had such a lovely feel with great wee touches. We even had an Easter egg hunt! I would stay here again in a flash, relaxing and homely, we all loved it. Would certainly recommend to friends and family, a brilliant break.

Nice flat with sea views

  • 5 of 5

We were two families (4 adults, 3 kids) for a three night break. We all really enjoyed the accommodation. There's plenty of space. It's one road back from the sea and spread over two floors which means you get nice sea views from the top floor.

The top floor is quite open plan, with one of the beds behind a curtain, in an alcove - the kids loved this and we had to put them on a rota as they all wanted it.

Plenty to do nearby - it's a 5 minute walk to the harbour(s), lots of cafes, award winning chip shop, Co-op and grocers about half a mile away. Less than 30mins to St Andrews for a day out.

I would stay again.

Owner's Response: Hi Craig, You are only the second group of guests to stay at this property so it is very pleasing to read your review. Many thanks for that and I hope to welcome you all back in the future. We have added a velux window to the top sea side bedroom which gives the house another vantage point from which to enjoy the views! Jamie

Car: not necessary

The House is located in the narrow and characterful streets of Cellardyke which is joined to Anstruther. In under 5 minutes you have a good choice of bars, cafes, shop and even the famous Fisheries Museum. The Fife Coastal Path runs past the house and you can walk for miles in either direction One way will take you towards Crail and St Andrews and the other way will take you to Pittenweem, St Monans, Elie, Largo and beyond. All the East Neuk Villages are delightful places to visit. The golf course is just a few mins away and there is a water sports center in Elie, 4 miles away. Anstruther Harbour is the largest harbour along the East Neuk coast and there always seems to be something going on from kids jumping off the pier to carnivals and firework displays at certain times of the year. You can take boat trips to The Isle of May to see the puffins and more or take a longer boat trip (45 minutes) to North Berwick and East Lothian. This service tends to run in the summer months only.
