Photos and Description of this holiday cabin in Custer - Fish Rock Cabin

2 Room Cabin (w/Electric, But No Plumbing). Privy And Hand Water Pump (Potable)

Rent a Northern Wisconsin Cabin from yesteryear. The rustic cabin has electricity, but no indoor plumbing. A new porta potty (has replaced our outhouse), fire pit and a water pump is onsite to provide drinking water and round out the amenities. All of this is located on 2 acres with 100 ft of fishing frontage. This vacation get-a-way is specifically for those looking for a quiet camping experience, without having to worry about the discomforts of using a tent and noisy campgrounds. It is a simple 2 room cottage that is exceptionally well kept. It includes a futon, roll-a-way bed and 2 cots for sleeping. It also has a small refrigerator and microwave. The kitchen nook is perfect for meals and there are a number of cabinets that may be used for storage space. We pride ourselves on the cleanliness of our cabin despite it's rustic nature.

Enjoy Lake Jacqueline on the pier or in a boat (a paddle boat and a 14' rowboat are available for use free of charge during your stay). Lake Jacqueline is a clear, no wake, electric motor only lake that is perfect for fishing, kayaking, wildlife viewing and other silent sports. Fish Rock Cabin is located on the sparsely populated North end of the Lake, near the Portage County Lake Jacqueline Nature Preserve. Come enjoy our comfortable family friendly camping cabin.

State of Wisconsin Inspected and Licensed.

Rustic cabin on a quiet lake

  • 4 of 5

Beautiful fall colors on a quiet lake, opposite of a county park boarding the lake with hundreds of tamarack trees. Simply stunning view. We were here during cooler nights and appreciated having the heater in the cabin on nights when it was too cold to sit out by the fire ring. Small cabin but big enough for a single family who can get the kids outside and very clean and upon arrival. We enjoyed using the paddleboat too. All in all a great little getaway on a quiet little lake. Would be great for solo getaway too!

A beautiful rustic cabin getaway overlooking heaven on earth

  • 5 of 5

Our family was taken a breath by this majestic piece of land. Our first family camping trip was better than we could have asked for. From the beautiful and quaint rustic cabin  to the golden serene wildlife overlooking the tranquil lake. Our children marveled at the captivating sounds of nature echoing through the night. Catching fish, running after frogs and chipmunks....a lifetime of memories.  Our children can't stop talking about it and cannot wait to return! Thank you Andrew sharing your wonderful cabin!

rustic weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I booked the cabin for a weekend getaway fishing trip and were not disappointed! The cabin is clean, small, and cozy, Andrew showed up within minutes of our arrival to make sure we had everything that we needed, he was very friendly and helpful. We had use of a paddle boat and row boat with the option of the use of a trolling motor for the row boat for a small daily fee. We have two dogs and for an additional deposit we were able to bring them, which was a must. There are some rules for bringing a pet which is expected at any place, but as long as you are a responsible pet owner it won't be a problem.

The bathroom was clean and for a port-a-potty didn't smell bad at all. The one thing I might recommend is maybe bringing an air mattress or mattress pad for the futon. It was a little uncomfortable, but I don't think I've ever woken up from a night on a futon and not had some discomfort. If you happen to forget anything, need some bait, or are looking for a bite to eat there is a general store in Bevent about 7 miles away which had a decent deli.

The fishing was REALLY good, we didn't have any trouble finding action. We were even catching good sized pan fish right off the dock. We paddled out a few feet from the dock and landed a nice bass right off the bat, we also caught some very decent sized perch. We were probably averaging a fish every few minutes so it was a lot of fun. We did have more luck in the shallow water than we did in the middle of the lake. I'm strictly a worm and bobber fisherwoman and did great with just those.

We will be back to Fish Rock Cabin for sure!

The perfect lakefront get-a-way on a budget

  • 5 of 5

I wanted to take my kids on a weekend get-a-way, but was not up for tent camping. This was the perfect alternative. Simple accommodations and our own personal lake frontage. We loved the paddle boat and very much appreciated the supplied firewood! The yard was spacious, but private and the fishing/ frog chasing was great.

This place was very clean and absolutely no spider webs...that's not easy to do in the middle of the woods!

I appreciated that the owner came to check on us the first night and made sure we had everything we needed. You cannot beat the accommodations for the price and I look forward to planning another "camping" trip up to the fish rock cabin soon.

Great Getaway!

My review - 4 People Stayed in the Cabin

• The cabin was great and so was Andrew! Kitchen and Living room were spacious. The Mini Fridge worked great with smaller items that needed to be kept out of the cooler. The Living room was great and the furniture worked great. We brought our own air mattresses but could have slept just fine on the Futon and 2 Cots.

• Fire pit was great and gave us an opportunity to use the flames to cook some food in stead of the gas grill we brought.

• The back yard of the cabin was spacious and we did not need an easy up for shade. The trees blocked the sun great.

• When we met Andrew, he was great and just wanted to make sure we had everything we needed. He made sure we had firewood and offered us more, for a small fee, well worth the price.

• The use of his row boat was great. It fits 3 people perfectly. I would recommend to bring an electric trolling motor & an anchor, if you want to fish. We brought a trolling motor and it was a life saver. The wind really pushes that boat around too. Very Decent sized fish in the lake.

• Stevens Point, Plover & Amherst are all close for Brewery & Distillery Tours.

• Shower are close if needed. 8 Miles from the Cabin.

• Awesome Bike/Hiking trails around as well.

Overall Thank You Andrew!!! We Had a Blast! Hope to be back next year! You went out of your way to make us feel like it was our cabin!

Very relaxing

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I had a terrific weekend at the cabin. It is very rustic and afforded us the opportunity to unplug from the world for a couple days and recharge which is exactly what we wanted. Andrew was fantastic and very informative with helping us organize as well as answering any questions. Lots of fish in the lake and the water was very clear. We had a lot of fun pumping our own water and it tasted great. We look forward to going back!
