Kyrenia's secret garden!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful and relaxing haven you have cleverly created hidden right in the centre of the lovely Turkish Quarter. Visually stunning and perfectly situated to enjoy all that Kyrenia has to offer on foot. Breakfast sitting outside our dear little summer house every morning was an absolute delight. Thank you, we will always remember our lovely holiday at Yazade!

Terrific Stay

  • 5 of 5

This is really a great arrangement and a wonderful place to stay. Extremely convenient location right in the heart of the historical town. Terrific hosts who are friendly, welcoming and extremely helpful. Charming and very comfortable accommodations -- quite elegant really -- with everything you would need for a short or long stay. Very highly recommended indeed!

lovely house location

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I loved Yazade its a stunning property tucked away in the old turkish quarter of kyrenia, its really local, with the locals playing backgammon in the coffee shops. This is the real Cyprus.and its just a short walk to the harbour and shops. The apartment was lovely very bright and airy, and Cliff and Kay were so helpful.always on hand to offer help and advice. We are so sorry we missed the opening of their Bistro 14 next week. The reviews are wonderful, we shall return.

BEWARE!!!

  • 1 of 5

Yazade House was an utter sham if not a torturous winter experience! We had the option of a one bedroom cottage or a two bedroom apartment. We opted for the two bedroom apartment as my son and his wife planned on visiting for a week. Plus, it afforded us more room to store luggage, and groceries as there wasn't much room in the kitchen. We planned on staying for four months, not four days. During the coldest two weeks in 25 years due to a Siberian blast, we were left begging for more heat, which was totally out of our control but to have been included as per our rental agreement. We got into a damp, cold bed every night during this spell wearing two pairs of pyjamas, a hood, and socks. And heaven forbid one should have to use the facilities during the night! One could have hung meat in that bathroom! In an effort to make our bed a little more comfortable, while the central was still on, I would hang the pillows on the radiator for an hour every day in order to dry out the terrible dampness. The same for my jeans every morning. We were offered three bowls of rice for the dampness in the closets!

We also had to endure the invasion of the ants, which while they were totally evident to anyone entering the apartment, as did the cleaning lady most days, we were never offered any kind of assistance and dealt with this situation as best we could.

After failing to provide a more reasonable level of comfort for us, two seniors, and then to be confronted with a complete breakdown of any heat source in our bedroom and to be told that nothing could be done for four days, we had no other option but to take a hotel room, at our own extra expense, as we were both becoming quite ill. We were offered a gas tank for our bedroom. Having read about the dangers of using such a thing in an enclosed area, we declined the offer.

What relish when we finally crawled into a dry, warm bed for the first time in weeks! Heavenly bliss! We then could not endure the thought of returning to Yazade House and its paucity of basic comfort.

Despite the fact that we had prearranged payment in full for four months, we ended up staying only six weeks due to these intolerable conditions. Twice, we requested a settlement meeting and at least partial refund for the remaining weeks but were told in short order that no refund would be forthcoming. Is this any way to treat your guests and does this indicate the slightest integrity? How charming, "darling!"

Owner's Response: We arranged for this couple to stay at the apartment at a very reasonable monthly rental, with free electricity, wifi, gas, moderate amount of central heating, and daily maid service, laundry service, a welcome pack and welcome dinner. Firstly they only booked and paid for the one bedroomed apartment but on arrival insisted on having use of the second bedroom, although I mentioned it wasn't really convenient, this fell on deaf ears, and the odd thing was that they only used the bathroom cupboard to store their medication, which I found rather odd. For the first 5 weeks of their stay the temperature was 67 degrees, it was sunny all the days, so I was surprised that they wanted the central heating on 9 hours a day. I now realise having spoken to other canadians that as soon as their seasons cool, they have the heating on full blast all of the time. So I am guilty of miscalculating the amount of heating that would be required, the other point is that the gentleman in question rose every morning at 3 am!!!! When I explained to the couple that my central heating bill alone was higher than their monthly rental, they weren't really interested, but I went on to explain that we could not continue to provide the level of comfort they required, with the present rental rate. We did have a problem with the heating unit, and the technician wasn't able to bring a new one until the following Monday, 3 days later, so in the meantime, I offered them a gas heater and an electric blanket, both of which was refused, so they were never left without the offer of alternative heating. They told me that they would go to a hotel for the weekend, and would return on Monday, they did return a few times over the weekend, but only to collect their luggage, and they left without saying goodbye, which again I thought was quite rude. I then had a very nasty email, telling me that unless I refunded all their money they would denigrate us on all the holiday sites. I explained to them that the apartment was there for them until the due date, and that they were very welcome to come back at any time, and that I could not make a refund as it was very unlikely I could relet the apartment at such short notice. I did everything in my power to make this couple happy and comfortable, but I am afraid their expectations of Yazade were too high.

An Oasis of Peace and Tranquility

  • 5 of 5

We so enjoyed our stay at Yazade House. It is an oasis of peace and tranquility, with its beautiful courtyard garden and swimming pool, amidst the delightful, colourful, bustling town of Kyrenia.

The apartment was beautifully appointed and extremely comfortable with many thoughtful little touches. We especially liked the fact that we were just a few minutes walk from the centre of town with all that it has to offer, and the delightful harbour with its many cafes and restaurants. We were amazed how quiet it was at night, and we both slept really soundly - even the nearby minaret didn't wake us.

I would not hesitate to recommend Yazade House to friends, we loved our stay there and only wished that we had booked for longer.

Magical Stay

  • 5 of 5

This was our first stay at the beautiful and relaxing Yazade House, perfectly located in the midst of the Turkish Quarter of Kyrenia. A short walk from the town centre and harbour, with some lovely local restaurants just a stone’s throw away, we could not have asked for a better location to explore Kyrenia by foot. Yazade House is a true gem of a find due to its central location. When we were looking at apartments in Kyrenia to rent, this was the only one that had such a perfect location.

All this before we had even set foot in the apartment or met Kay and Cliff!

The apartment is stunning; light and airy and furnished with white washed wooden furniture. We enjoyed sitting with the French doors open and eating our breakfast outside on the terrace that is beautifully scented by a fragrant tree.

Our stay at Yazade truly felt like home away from home. That was because Kay and Cliff are very special people who make you feel welcome, comfortable and at ease. My fiancé and I enjoyed spending time chatting to them both over coffee and when our stay came to its end we did not want to leave as we had enjoyed their company so much.

We will definitely be returning to Yazade again next year, and the year after that, and the year after that…….you get the picture! Thank you Kay and Cliff, we will always remember our stay with you at the lovely Yazade House.
