About Linda Dillon

Linda has lived and worked at Boswell for over 20 years, lovingly restoring the cottages and building up a successful Pilates Class and Retreat business.

On discovering Pilates, Linda studied to become a Pilates Instructor, completing an apprenticeship at Wayne Sleep's Studios in London and working with Gordon Thompson (later of Body Control Pilates fame). Linda then instructed at Wayne's studio, and at other London studios, until moving to Devon in 1994.

Linda Dillon purchased this cottage in 1994

Why Linda Dillon chose Sidmouth

Boswell House is grade II listed and was built in the 17th century but the site dates back to pre-Norman times - ‘Boswell' being mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. In around 1860 Boswell became a working farm and has remained so until today, with many of the original buildings and features intact.

Boswell Farm nestles alongside the Snod Brook in the secluded tranquil / peaceful Sweetcombe Valley, which lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. In fact the word ‘snod' is a medieval word meaning pretty. There are breathtaking views across a timeless landscape, the valley with its woods and the fields that climb its slopes. Here is an abundance of wildlife - badgers, deer, buzzards and kingfishers to mention but a few.

Had a great stay at Boswell cottages!

  • 5 of 5

Loved the setting of the cottages, only about 2 miles from the sea. Sidford just up the road yet it felt like the middle of the country. The cottages are beautifully set with just the right amount of space and garden between them, giving privacy yet not isolation. The planting of flowers and shrubs make it very pretty. The amenities are great, and we actually managed to use the tennis court. The dog loved her walks each morning around the fields and enjoyed paddling in the streams. I actually saw the kingfisher by the trout pond. We were also close to the footpaths and bridleways around and had an enjoyable walk exploring the area one rainy day. The cottage was well equipped with plenty of crockery in the kitchen. We could have done with a chest of drawers in the bedroom, although my daughter loved using the dressing table which she declared was 'Just right.'

All in all we hope to visit Boswell Farm Cottages again.

Lovely property and surroundings

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Linhay with our dogs over the weekend and really enjoyed our stay. The cottage is very spacious and well equiped. The shower room downstairs is very practical when you have dogs. The surrounding area is lovely and dog safe. We will definitely be back.
