Hi, I'm Michele,
I am the property manager and rental agent for Sunrise Splendor. I also live downstairs and am available to help out when needed.
Cooperstown is a beautiful place to visit, work and live. I've spent most of my summers here, and now reside here year 'round. Over time I have come to know some of the area's best kept secrets. I hope you reach out to me for ideas and recommendations during your stay.
There is a hospitality link that VRBO allows owners/managers to create for their guests. When you receive this link upon booking, I highly recommend perusing it for my personal, local favorites. If you are not a techy person, that's okay! We can chat about it when you arrive. I love sharing my love for the area with guests, so please don't be shy!
Otsego Lake is lovely. I adore every bit of its shoreline. This spot in particular is among my favorites as it not only provides stunning views of the lake, but also of Sleeping Lion Mountain at the North end. It is only from this vantage point that you can appreciate the where its name is derived from. As an early riser, nothing is prettier than the sun cresting over the mountains and shimmering on the water. You are in the perfect spot for this pleasing view. At day's end, when the sun sets behind us, we have the most beautiful skies! The pinks and purple hues reflect off the clouds and the mountains across the lake, and simply glow upon the water. Truly a gift to live here!
The host made us feel so welcome with warm baked bread on arrival. The listing was accurate and the setting was idealic. We had a great week on the lake. I would not underestimate the refreshment of jumping in the lake off the dock. The morning sun was spectacular over the lake and the neighborhood (and neighbors) were great. What a pleasant surprise to find such a wonderful accommodation - a home away from home. We will be back.
What Jared loved about your listing:
What Jared thought you could improve about the experience:
Over the past 15+ years my husband and I have rented many VRBO sites in several different locations throughout the US, his comment after being at Sunrise Splendor for just a few hours was "this is the best place you have ever found for us." The house is very comfortable/clean and homey but at the same time beautiful with several lovely art pieces and lots of nautical memorabilia, just when you think you've seen everything you discover something else. The setting is beautiful as well, being right across the street from Lake Otsego. We really enjoyed morning coffee and afternoon wine time gazing at the lake and relaxing after long days of exploring. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need to create any kind of meal! However if you don't feel like cooking the quaint village of Cooperstown is not far, about 5.5 miles, we enjoyed Mel's 22 for lunch and Alex's Bistro for dinner. We also met fun people and had good drinks at the distillery on Main Street. Michele is a delightful hostess, giving you total privacy but making certain you feel welcome and knowing she is there if you need "anything." We spent a few minutes chatting with her and you instantly feel "at home" in her presence. I will definitely recommend Sunrise Splendor to anyone I know of or hear of who is traveling to the Cooperstown area.
The apartment was just as advertised. Very clean and comfortable, well stocked, and a great view of Otsego Lake. It was just a short drive to Main St. and the Hall of Fame. The host, Michele, was extremely helpful and accommodating before and during our stay including good recommendations for eating. We enjoyed our stay. The only draw back was the parking for the apartment was off a very bumpy dirt road and not easily visible from the main road. Besides that, highly recommended.
This place is GREAT! Quite clean and very comfortable.
Michelle is very hospitable, nice and welcoming yet unobtrusive.
There was limited cell service with att. It was a welcomed forced encouragement to disconnect. Not to worry there was a couple "sweet spots" for needed calls and there was internet.
The road is narrow but the traffic was moderate and most drivers were quite considerate and gave us space when we ventured out for a run.
The lake was clean and refreshing.
The area is quaint and relaxing.
Definitely a great place which we'd recommend to anyone staying in the area.
Couldn't ask for a better stay. The cabin was clean, well-decorated and in a great location. Michelle was available when we needed her and very helpful. We really enjoyed the week we spent there.
Home with beautiful views of the lake. Perfect place to relax after baseball games. Comfortable furniture and beds made the stay more enjoyable. Kitchen was well stocked with all the basics and having linens and towels supplied was a big plus. Only negative is the road leading to the house needs a little love. Michelle was helpful and provided lots of info on the area before we arrived. Would visit again.
My sister, and I know we were the luckiest baseball fans at Ken Griffey Jr.'s Hall of Fame induction. That's because at day's end, we came home to Sunrise Splendor which has to be one of THE BEST places to stay in the Cooperstown area. The home is beautifully decorated and entirely comfortable with an unmatched view of Lake Otsego from the spacious deck. We felt that we were above it all when we relaxed with a glass of wine outside and watched the sun go down over this gorgeous place--and we were! Luckily, we had decided to stay a week, so that after an incredible baseball weekend we could explore the area. With much to see and do in gorgeous country, we found more than we could accomplish! We gave it a good try, still leaving time to enjoy hanging out at our home away from home. We were grateful for the comfy furniture in the living room area, the well-stocked kitchen (and the gas grill on the deck!), lovely bedrooms with heavenly beds and a great shower. Hands down, we agreed Sunrise Splendor is the best rental either of us has experienced. Thank you so much, Michele, for sharing your space with us! We hope to see you again some day.

We can accommodate up to 4 people. This includes children of all ages. Please do not try to side-step this rule. I live on-site. If you arrive with additional guests, your reservation will be cancelled and all payments will be forfeited.
We are located 5.7 miles north of the village of Cooperstown. It is a lovely lakeside drive the full distance.
We are a 15 - 20 minute drive to Dreams Park fields.
I live on premises so you will see me from time to time. In the summer months Mark, the very kind owner will also be around. I'll greet you, give you general information and then let you have your privacy.
The neighborhood has a laid back lake appeal and primarily consists of privately owned properties. It is peaceful around here and the neighbors are lovely! Busy holidays bring more traffic than usual through West Lake Road, but aside from boats cruising the lake, and resounding laughter of fun-filled summer days, it is pretty tame.
A car is going to be important as you are 5.7 miles from town. Once you get within a mile of Cooperstown, you can park just before the Fenimore Art Museum in the 'Cooperstown Trolley' parking lot. From there you can take the trolley into town as parking can be hard to find, and is fee-based.
