Located at the end of Pine Street, the Brookie sleeps up to six people, perfect for one or two couples. There are two bedrooms and two baths, with the master bedroom and bath located on the second floor loft. A full sized pullout couch is in the living room. The kitchen has all the modern amenities. The Brookie is newer construction and is being offered for to those looking to start their summer get-away tradition. The private sandy beach gently slopes into the crystal clear waters of the lake. Perfect for swimming, soaking or launching a row boat, canoe or kayak, which are provided for your enjoyment. Come and enjoy the northern edge of the Adirondack Mountains, breath in the fresh pine scented air, listen to the echoing call of the loon, relax around a warming nighttime campfire and melt your stress away. The Brookie just may become your new favorite place to vacation.
Born and raised in Northern New York, career ambitions required a move away. Having traveled extensively around the world during our careers, my wife and I head back to the Adirondacks during the summer and fall for visits from the Knoxville Tennessee area. Having recently retired I now have time to spend in the North Country. My goal is make the Brookie cabin available for others to enjoy so they too can create long lasting memories. Oh and the best soft ice cream cones anywhere can be found at Donnelly's Ice Cream, just a few minutes north of Saranac Lake on State Route 86!
Michael Sabad purchased this cabin in 2000
Being a North Country native I have very strong ties to the area. I am an avid outdoor enthusiast who grew up on the lakes, rivers, ponds, swamps and in the woods of the Adirondacks and the Seaway Valley! Having spent much of my youth staying in summer camps of family and friends, many of my best and longest lasting memories are from that time. I introduced my wife to the Adirondacks years ago and it has become a special place of relaxation and restoration for us. Star Lake offers seclusion but also easy access to other Adirondack destinations and activities. For those who wish to venture further north Ottawa Ontario and Montreal Quebec are within easy driving distance as well. It's a great place to unwind, relax, and to just have a wonderful vacation experience. In 2000 the property was purchased and construction of the BROOKIE CAMP started in 2005. It was finally finished to the point it could be 'lived in' during the summer of 2014. I am excited about being able to offer this property to rent, Star Lake may just be the vacation gem you've been searching for.
The views of the lake from the cabin, the refreshing air and calls of the resident loons make this a very unique and special place to visit. The natural finish pine ship lap interior, soaring cathedral ceilings, and window wall facing the lake make this an inviting, comfortable and healthy place to kick back and relax. Fishing in the lake include several favorite game species, rainbow trout, lake trout, brook trout, kokanee salmon, small mouth bass and yellow perch. Two canoes, a two person Old Town kayak and 12 foot aluminum row boat is provided for your enjoyment.
We had a lovely week in The Brookie. S'mores at the fire pit. Long, lovely beach afternoons.
Many, many pictures and memories of our first vacation with our beautiful granddaughter.
The cabin was clean, comfortable and oh so easy to relax in.
We highly recommended The Brookie and Star Lake. Wonderful all the way around.
This was the perfect property for my wife and I, two teenage boys and Black Lab. Everyone enjoyed fishing , swimming, and boating in the lake, using the fire pit at night, and the convenience of the (very) small town that was a 10 minute walk away. The wifi and cable also kept everyone entertained on the one rainy day that we had. The owner was also very responsive and helpful throughout the process.
The town is very small and there are few dining/shopping options around, but that was just fine with us. We did venture to Potsdam (about an hour drive) one day to check out the colleges and stock up on groceries and a Walmart run.
There was also an abundance of local hiking trails in the area that allowed us to get out and get some exercise. The Ranger school about 10 miles away had a great short hiking trail to the top of an Adirondack fire tower that was really cool and offered some great views with minimal effort.
Overall this was a really great house.
This cabin is amazing. Practically brand new. Nice to have two full bathrooms, dishwasher, and washer/dryer.
My family fell in love with Star Lake. The water is clean and warm. The people are super friendly.
If you are looking for lots of shopping and tourist type things, this may not be the place for you. However, if you are looking for an amazing, quiet cabin on an incredible lake close to some of the best hiking in the ADKs, then this is the place for you.
My family and I will return someday.
The cabin was wonderful. Very clean, comfortable, with with modern conveniences. I traveled with two senior citizens, who managed just fine. There were only one or two steps to get in the cabin, and they had a couple of sleeping options on the first floor. The upstairs bedroom is beautiful - but the stairs might be a challenge for seniors or kids. Ceiling fans in the bedrooms came in handy on a couple of warm nights. Three levels of windows facing the lake made for a beautiful, relaxing view. The location is near town, and there were neighbors nearby, yet it felt private and "away from it all". The lake is clean and clear and quieter than others I have stayed at. The owner was easy to deal with, and provided good information about the rental. I would highly recommend this rental to others.
We enjoyed a quiet 11 day vacation at this location. One particularly clear night I saw the entire summer night sky studded with stars which reflected in the still water. That was spectacular! The beds were comfortable. The Verizon signal for our phones was very good. I would highly recommend this rental. It may be helpful to provide internet service for those who do not have i phones.
The house is brand new, cozy, we enjoyed the covered porch. The lake was pristine, the water clear and just right for a swim. We enjoyed the canoes and fishing on the lake. I recommend this rental.
