The Owner purchased this cottage in 2007
We came to Hilo for the weekend to visit my mom before we move back to the mainland. When we walked into the house we were very happy. My wife said I could live here. It was reasonably priced and while the outside of the house is dated the inside was very clean and comfortable. It looked exactly as the pictures depicted and the location was awesome.
Home was cozy, clean and just what we needed. Great little kitchen. Property is well maintained. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 3 kids. Great location in Hilo.
Great place, quiet area except for the frogs that sing you to sleep. Vizley was very accomodating and helpful. Would come back to this home again. Thank you!
Needed a place to stay in Hilo. Proximity to my venue was excellent. Owner was very prompt in replying to communications. Mahalo!!
Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Valzey's vacation rental right in the middle of Hilo town which was very convenient for us for the short weekend in for a wedding and trying to see and spend time with everyone in this short amount of time. The place was very easy to find, very quiet and nice safe area, at night my brother said it got a little noisy with people with their cars going up and down but for the most part very good to come in and out with a family of 6. Communication and payment with Val was very easy and amazing, because she even let us check out a little later. It was fully stocked with everything, I was very surprised on the chairs, paper towels, dishwashing detergent, etc. You should bring your own umbrella's if anything due to it raining a lot in Hilo, or if Val provides this it would be awesome. There is also washer and dryer just in case things get wet that we used, 3 tv's in each room for everyone to watch their own stations.
This place was perfect for our little family and we are very grateful for everything, its not the Hilton but definitely cost wise it was a bargin, since the Hilo Hawaiian was way more expensive. The fans were perfect, the windows, beds was a little small but ok, couch looked comfy even thought I didn't sit on it but my cousin slept on it and it was great. The only other thing is maybe the carpets needed shampooing or just put some glade plug ins and it would smell a little better, other then that it was perfect.
Much Mahalo's Val for everything, we will definitely love to stay here again if we ever come to Hilo town again.
The location of this small home was the best part. It is near a Wal-mart for grocery shopping and has easy access to the road to Hawaiian Volcanoes National Park, the Saddle Road to Mauna Kea and Kona, Hilo and the waterfalls and valleys north of Hilo. Although the house was older, it is clean and had all the necessities for our purpose as a base from which to explore the area.
Cons (3) -
Ongoing road repair on property's address Leilani St made for initial confusion of access to property.
Broken window glass jalousies need to be repaired as it allows early morning/late evening road repair noise, neighbor's conversation, and rainy draft to come into home.
Pillows on brown bed smelled of urine.
Pros (3) -
Convenient location to Hilo airport, Kuhio mall, and local favorites Hawaiian Café and Leung's restaurants.
Covered carport a welcomed necessity in rainy Hilo.
Full size kitchen appliances (stove, refrig, coffee maker, washer & dryer) ideal for families and longer stays.
Suggestions (2) -
Full size ironing board
Guest info binder w/ nearby restaurant menus
Mahalo and Happy Easter & Merrie Monarch festival
