You can look across to Beachy Head from the seafront, which is within the scenic South Downs National Park, for cliff-top walks along to the Belle Tout lighthouse and beyond, to Birling Gap and the Cuckmere Valley, with sensational views for many miles.
Inland you have picturesque villages such as East Dean (try the Tiger Inn and Thai Terre restaurant) and Alfriston (we love the Wingrove Hotel for cocktails in the garden) or head east to Pevensey Bay for huge skies and empty beaches.
