About the property

Sixt is one of the 'most beautiful villages' in France. It remains very French with boulangerie (bakery), little grocery store, bars and restaurants. It's location on the border of the Sixt-Passy nature reserve means that you have stunning views where ever you look.

The awesome Fer a Cheval (horse shoe) is only a few minutes by car or 1.5 hour walk from the apartment - it has to be seen to be believed. Similarly the incredible Cascade de Rouget (a HUGE waterfall also called the Queen of the Alps) is a brief drive or a good walk. The walks in the area (and indeed from the front door) are numerous and vary from a good stroll to a serious walk at altitude.

Other summer activities include rafting, canyoning, rock climbing, swimming in the open air pool in Samoens or one of the lakes in the valley, lazing in the sun, having a massage, eating ... just so much for all the family.

If you come for a winter holiday then there are excellent beginner slopes 400m from the apartment and the main access to the Grand Massif ski area is less than 10 minutes by car or on the free ski bus. Excellent cross country and snow shoeing are right on the doorstep. This is a wonderful place to just enjoy being in the mountains.

The apartment was completed in 2013, has underfloor heating throughout to ensure you remain cozy as the snow falls. The rest of the building above the apartment is occupied by the owners so they are on hand for advice and help. When the owners; Melissa & Mark designed and furnished the apartment they did so having reflected on good (and not so good) holiday rentals they had experienced. They were keen to ensure that the apartment was fully equipped and that meant everything from dishwasher tablets to comfortable beds and good quality linens. The apartment is over 70 square metres so is a really good size for a family, the living area is open plan; a very social layout.

There is a private garden with BBQ, patio, furniture and games.

In the winter you can enjoy borrowing one of the sledges knowing that the boot dryer will dry everything for the next morning.

About Melissa Feeney

Mark and Melissa are British and both ran management consultancies in the UK and holidayed in the Samoens area. We soon realised it was where we wanted to live full time.

We moved to live in the Giffre Valley in 2011. We bought the land in Sixt Fer a Cheval not long afterwards and designed the house with apartment underneath, we moved in in 2013.

Guests have been enjoying the apartment since 2013 and we have welcomed many of them back several times.

We love living in Sixt and while we moved here as keen skiers we have come to love the summers as much.

Melissa sings in one of the local choirs, Mark enjoys golf and both of us thrive on the outdoor lifestyle of this beautiful part of the world.

Your hosts live above the apartment and are on hand to give advice and ideas. The cats and free-range chickens are charming entertainment.

We have rented holiday accommodation ourselves over the years and it helped us decide what we wanted to do for our guests. We intend that all the small things are covered, there will be olive oil, loo rolls, dishwasher tablets, tea bags, coffee, DVDs, books, games and so much more to make your stay comfortable and fun.

The views are incredible, you have a garden to enjoy in the summer with outdoor furniture and BBQ.

In winter the apartment is cozy and welcoming. The ski locker, boot warmer, fondue and raclette equipment are just some of the things that will make this an easy and enjoyable skiing holiday. The Grand Massif is a large and diverse ski area and your hosts will help you make the most of your experience here.

La Tibolire is situated on the edge of one of the largest nature reserves in France. Marmottes, chamoix, ibex are all relatively easy to spot in summer.

You must see the Cascade de Rouget (Queen of the Alps) and the incredible Fer a Cheval (a horse shoe cliff)
