Extensive shopping and amenities can be found in Haddington (3 miles) where you will find an excellent selection of grocers, wine shops, florists and butchers sitting alongside charming gift, clothes shops and craft galleries.

Relax and watch the world go by in one of the many cafes, delicatessens or tea rooms in the town including Diggory’s or the Peter Potter Gallery; The Chocolate Tree for a devilish sweet treat; or The Loft for fabulous artisan breads and oven-fresh produce. For an easy evening takeaway, also look out for The Big Blu mobile van with its own wood-fired oven for delicious authentic pizza.

Alternatively, head to La Potinière at Gullane (7 miles) for superb food and elegant dining or the Creel Restaurant at Dunbar (14 miles) for delicious seafood and award-winning cuisine.

For something a little different, The Lobster Shack at North Berwick (12 miles) serves freshly caught lobster along with a cold beer or a crisp glass of prosecco right from the harbour front - a decidedly rustic but charming set-up with amazing sea views! Alternatively for a comfy nook and a perfectly roasted espresso head to The Steampunk Coffee House based in an old characterful warehouse in the centre of the town. And did we mention cakes? You can enjoy a scrumptious selection here including a rather heavenly pistachio and white chocolate Brownie!
