The Highland House is a cozy and casual beach cottage just a 10 minute walk to the beach. The Cottage is surrounded by a spacious private garden with a fire pit, gazebo and outdoor seating. Inside you will find an artsy, causal living space with a large window overlooking the yard. The cottage has a fully stocked kitchen and dining area that comfortably sits 4. There is a master bedroom with a queen size bed and the second room has a sleeping alcove comfortable for one adult or 2 small children. There is also a sleeping loft accessed by a ladder for an adventurous soul. The bathroom has a full size tub and shower. A separate converted garage with a pull out sofa is a perfect office space or additional sitting/sleeping room. The cottage is located on a quiet street in one of Santa Monica's safest, yet hip, up and coming neighborhoods. Main Street is a few blocks away and has an amazing assortment of restaurants, shops, yoga studios and bars. There is a Sunday morning Farmers Market that is a must! Amenities include a flat screen TV, high speed internet and brand new washer/dryer.

Our stay at the Highland Cottage was lovely! The cottage is stocked with everything you need. It is cozy, clean and quiet. The front yard is amazing. There is a large table outside for get togethers and an outdoor couch so you can curl up and read after a day of sightseeing. Colette and Lisa were great hosts and answered our questions promptly and gave us lots of great suggestions as to where to eat and where to go! The neighborhood is safe and walkable. We will definitely return!
Great location for an extended family vacation. We stayed for three months and didn't need a vehicle. We rented a car for a few day trips, but we didn't require a vehicle for day to day.
The beach, parks, playgrounds, groceries, preschool, restaurants, and shopping were all within walking distance.
Our kids enjoyed playing in the fenced yard. We bought bikes and rode them everyday.
Property management was very dependable and easy to contact. Any concerns we had were assessed promptly.
An excellent place to stay!
We stayed in Santa Monica for over a month this summer and thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The house was perfect for our family of 4 with 2 teenagers. Even though it is 2 bedrooms, there were many sleeping options including the loft, converted garage/office, and futon. The location was perfect. We walked to the beach and Main Street nearly every day. The house is right off Ocean Park, so access to the bike lane was easy. We could even walk to the grocery store. The private yard was perfect for hanging out and grilling. We like to cook and found the kitchen to be well stocked. The rest of the house was well appointed and the beds comfortable. The management company were easy to reach and very responsive. So easy to work with. This part of Santa Monica is a real gem.
Staying at the house on highland has been a major highlight of my year in LA. My stay was for a little over three months. The street is safe and quiet with friendly neighbors and not a lot of traffic. The house is set back behind bushes and a cool wooden gate and is very private and feels safe. Parking on the street was never a problem when guests would come over but the single spot in front was a nice thing to have. Every time I do a long term rental I get a bit nervous but moving in to this house was a huge relief. I extended my stay twice.
Main street is a quick walk away and has great coffee, ice cream spots, bars and restaurants. The walk to the grocery store is even shorter and very convenient. There is a Whole Foods right down the street as well. I never really had to leave the neighborhood. Its also short bike ride away from cools shops and restaurants in Venice, the beach and downtown Santa Monica.
The pics for this place don't do it justice. Its got a great beachy feel..but with a modern kitchen that has everything you could need. The bed in the main room was very comfortable and the shower had nice pressure.
Also, the small team managing the property are a joy. I have to be in LA for long periods of time a few times a year and they are by far the most friendly and accommodating for any place I've rented. It makes a big difference when you'e looking for a stress free living situation. I felt very luck to have found them...and very lucky to have found this house. If I ever move to LA I will do my best to live here.

Thank you for your interest in the Highland Cottage. Please be aware that we only take reservations for 30 days or longer.
We are a non smoking property. We have a 45 day cancellation policy. Because we are a monthly rental we require guests to have cleaning services midway through their stay. It is $100.00 a month for mid stay cleaning. *Change of contract fee: $200 We are happy to host dogs. There is an additional $100.00 a month fee.
