About Lesley Elrick

I am interested in interiors and fashion trends and enjoy keeping my surroundings fresh and current . Eating good food and drinking a fine bottle of wine is a great way to spend an evening at the weekend and it is just a short stroll from this flat to wine and dine in the nearby city centre restaurants ! After building a holiday home on the island of Colonsay in 2013 and creating a successful business there we got the idea for providing a "cool" city centre apartment in Edinburgh.

Lesley Elrick purchased this apartment in 2016

Why Lesley Elrick chose New Town

Location, location , location !! It doesn't get much better than this.

Wonderful decor and interiors .The flat has just been completely modernised and has brand new quality designer furnishings .

A great night's sleep. High quality mattress , the best of bed linen and blackout blinds . Fluffy bath towels , under floor heating in the bathroom and luxury Scottish toiletries all give you the feeling of a boutique hotel suite.

A 5 minute walk from the tram stop to and from the airport , a 10 minute walk to Waverley train station and plenty local buses close by .It is also very well served with a good taxi service . It is perfect for a couple on a city break and very central for all city amenities . Yet , it is set in a peaceful, quiet residential courtyard . If you are here on business then the flat offers peace and quiet to work and free WIFI .

Absolutely Fantastic

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I adored staying at The Hidden Gem. The neighborhood was very peaceful and quiet with restaurants and grocery within walking distance. The apartment itself was clean and equipped with everything we needed. The heated bathroom floors are a great touch. The bus and train station are quite close and Lesley’s directions were spot on. We would most definitely stay again!

This flat was super charming and had all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay.

  • 5 of 5

This flat is in the perfect location if you are wishing to explore Edinburgh. The instructions provided for entry were spot on, and the flat itself is welcoming and comfortable. Impeccably decorated with all the amenities needed for a pleasant holiday. We needed nothing other than to provide our own groceries, though there were enough establishments in the area that we wouldn’t have had to cook a single meal if we didn’t want to. Costa in St Andrews square is the best place to get your morning coffee if needed. If you are planning on a car rental, you may want to consider the cost of parking as the metered parking is monitored closely and the daily parking (about a 15 minute walk to the Q-park)) is rather costly. Otherwise, this place was a gem. Close enough drive to St. Andrews for the golf enthusiasts.

Very comfortable and convenient, exactly how advertised

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was very warm, cosy , well-equipped and comfortable. It was very quiet, even though it's a stone's throw to pubs, restaurants and shops. We would have no hesitation in recommending this property to anyone visiting Edinburgh.

We found it easy to travel around Edinburgh by bus, buying a daily ticket for £4 each (exact fare required) and turned left out of the property to catch buses on Dundas Street, where there is also a Tesco Express.

This flat is in a fantastic location. Within walking distance of all that you need and really easy access to the train station. The flat itself is well laid out and has all the comforts of a home away from home. Would easily recommend this for a stay in beautiful Edinburgh.

Car: not necessary

The flat forms part of a beautiful historic building situated in a quiet cobbled courtyard just off Dublin Street .We are located on the second floor of the building .There is only one flat per floor .

The flat is situated 25 minutes away from Edinburgh airport by car/ bus/taxi depending on the time of day .Rush hour in the morning and evening can add a significant time to this journey. The tram will take around 40 minutes. Dublin Street is just off Queen Street which runs parallel to Princes Street .It is a dead end with no through traffic. Regular buses run to many parts of the city and surrounding areas, and Waverley Railway Station is just a short walk away. There is a tram stop from the airport on St Andrews Square which is a 5 minute walk to the flat .There is easy access by car to the city bypass for links to the Edinburgh International Airport . There are plenty of paid meter parking within walking distance. There are parking places in the immediate vicinity which do not require for you to pay on a Friday evening after 630pm and all day Saturday and Sunday. Be careful where you park as the traffic wardens are plentiful!

Taxis in general can be hailed on the street or there are many taxi ranks around town . If you would prefer to order a taxi try Central taxis on 0131 229 2468 . This apartment is so well located so unless it is raining you can easily walk to just about any of the city centre attractions .

Lothian buses are also a great way to get around .The buses are frequent and cover all of the city .

Please note: Dublin Meuse, and the New Town area is a residential area. The area is peaceful and quiet .
