This home was built and is owned by a landscape and home architect! Also, the owner is vegan so there is a fully functioning micro farm on the property.
This modern home features recycled distressed hard wood floors on the upper level. Also on that level there is a glass floor going into the master bedroom.
The living room features a 55' television with most cable channels. The kitchen is all granite counter tops with stainless steel appliances.
The downstairs level features all painted concrete floors. The stair case is also all stainless steel as well.
The third bonus room features a queen sized bed.
In the back of the property there is also a 30 foot high deck with lounge furniture, a heater and a new 6 person Hot Springs Spa.
The entire property is extremely secluded for it's location in the center of town.
The property is located approximately 10 minutes by walking to downtown Hillcrest. The airport, downtown, beaches, Sea World, Zoo, Balboa Park, etc.... are all just minutes away from this centrally located home.

Zapher Dajani purchased this house in 2006
This is an incredibly unique property. First, as a vegan, we created a fully functional micro farm on property. Second, my partner is a landscape and building architect. So every possible detail is impressive. Finally, it's so close to everything with only a 10 minute walk to downtown Hillcrest.
The house is in a beautiful, secluded setting and very attractively decorated. Everything was in working order and Zapher was very responsive to our questions. We did not, however, find the house very comfortable, particularly the LR furniture. The lighting in the kitchen, dining room, LR, and outside entry is inadequate. If it has been raining, both routes from the street to the entrance are treacherous. The stairs to the hot tub are very safe, and it was well kept and a huge treat! The linens were good quality, but there were only 2 beach towels and no face cloths. Towel racks are non-existent aside from one in a recess with little ventilation. There were not enough hangers for our clothes, let alone for our towels. A laundry drying rack would be very welcome. The kitchen is fairly well-stocked, but chipped dishes need to be replaced and salad plates, cereal bowls, and teaspoons added. After a few days we found that the dishwasher worked adequately only on the Extra Hot setting. The listing promises "Roku, Netflix, and most cable channels" but we found only basic cable. We did enjoy our stay in spite of what we recognize are trivial complaints.
Great home, clean & well maintained, very private quiet location, everything you need is provided except food, Vons & Whole Foods right up the street.
Zapher was very friendly & helpful. My wife and I really enjoyed our vacation, I highly recommend to anyone wanting a nice quiet stay in the middle of town with close access to all !
The location of the house is great. Close to downtown hillcrest as well as easy access to gaslamp, mission bay and harbour island. The property I'd beautiful and we'll maintained. The outdoor hot tub and living area were a great place to unwind. The house is convenient to the airport and yet we did not hear any airport noise. My only deduction is for the parking and privacy. A lot of the wundoes don't have treatments so I felt a little ecoded when workers were on the property. Other than that, great stay!
This place is super cool. Really beautifully landscaped. We have two little girls and they thought is was cool and my youngest liked sleeping in the garage bedroom because she thought she was camping. Nice appliances and great shower pressure. Every mattress has a different firmness so if you don't like firm move down to the bottom room and you'll find soft.
The best thing about this place is the location. We were close enough to the Hillcrest neighborhood to walk with a Von's and many great restaurants right there. We liked The Patio on Washington and Harley Gray for breakfast. A short 6 minute drive gets you to Balboa park and the zoo. A few minutes more and your at the beach.
Great for a weekend visit.
Property nestled in mature area. Warm interior, very inviting. Owners friendly and very helpful. Great, outfitted kitchen and within walking distance or short drive to downtown Hillcrest. So relaxing. Owners have a waterfall feature outside the kitchen window that really makes the property feel private. Whole home ready for guests to hit the ground running or just to stay in and relax. Would highly recommend it!
We were a small group of 4 people, mixing business with pleasure.
The property is centrally located for us, near the Zoo and Airport to the South and the Universities to the North. We had 4 persons in a cute, comfortable place that had the full complement of items for our needs. You can indeed walk a few blocks into the Hillcrest area.
Derick's level of service was fantastic. We had sent multiple emails through the VRBO system and he was quick and responsive. We also asked to see his wonderful, affectionate dog, and lo and behold, Zuzu appeared at our backyard doorsteps.
I hope to return. :-)
