On one side, the steep summits of the Vosges. On the other side, the Alsatian plains and their hectares of vineyards. And in the middle of this grandiose natural environment, there is the small town of Riquewihr. For a peaceful stay with plenty to discover, it is an ideal destination. This medieval city, located one hour away from the European city of Strasbourg, has preserved its quirky charm. The façades are rich with multicoloured flowers, the pointed roofs seem to touch the Alsatian sky and the interior courtyards hide wells and fountains. In order to not miss out on these historical sites, take a tour around the city and learn of its heritage and culture.

Golf: 18-hole Ammerschwihr golf course.

Skiing: We are right next to the Vosges ski resorts of Gerarmer, La Bresse, both of which are in Alsace, at distances of between 20-40 minutes.

Delightful Character Apartment

  • 4 of 5

We were delighted with this apartment. The location was perfect, right in the middle of the village and we could walk to all the sights. The property is just full of local character with wooden beams and old world charm. There was plenty of room for the two of us and the kitchen was well appointed with quality appliances and equipment, The bed was very comfortable and roomy with very nice linen and the living area was very comfortable. The bathroom was clean and modern and well appointed and the toilet is in the bathroom.

We enjoyed a traditional meal at the bar restaurant downstairs and also take-away from the delicatessen further up the hill. Most of the time we cooked for ourselves.

We visited the Castle of Haut-Koenigsbourg which was wonderful and the pretty towns of Eguisheim, Ribeauville, Kaysersburg, Obernai and Munster. My husband was very interested in Neuf-Brisach, a fortress town designed by Vauban. It was Stork breeding season and there were many Stork nests and celebrations in the surrounding towns.

I would be happy to return and recommend this property to friends and family. The only thing missing was a washing machine but we found the local Laundromat in Mittlewihr, When it came to cleaning, the vacuum cleaner was a problem as the bags were the wrong size for the machine.

The owner was very pleasant to deal with when making the booking. She was on vacation when we arrived but arranged for a friend to meet us and check us out. She was very friendly and helpful with local information. There was lots of printed information in the apartment.

Unfortunately, the neighbour upstairs was renovating during our stay and another tenant brought his 2 dogs with him who barked a lot. These would not be an ongoing situation though.

Bien mais ...

  • 3 of 5

  • 2 of 5

- Neues Bad

- Gut ausgestattete Küche (KS, vier-Platten Gas/E-Herd, Micro, Wasserkocher, Doppel-Spülbecken, Kaffeemaschine sowie Basisausstattung an notwendigen Töpfen (2), Pfanne (1), Messer (3), Geschirr, Besteck, Schüssel etc.)

- Ortstypische, liebevolle Einrichtung

- Toilettenbecken sehr stark verkalkt

- Ungewaschener Badteppich

- Wasserkocher stark verkalkt

- Spülbecken wie auch Wasserhahn stark verkalkt

Wichtig zu wissen: Persönliche Verbrauchsgüter, wie Getränke, Gewürze, Kaffee, Tee, Toilettenpapier ("Grundaustattung" war vorhanden), Spülmittel /-schwämme, Seife, Duschgel etc., stehen nicht zur Verfügung.
