Lewis and Clark traveled by this property in 1804. Later on steamboat paddle wheel boats tied up in Yankton and required fuel, thus old oak trees have regrown on the land with multiple trunks. The sturdy, well built abode is very cozy with an expansive lake view, a buffalo grass area for children to romp, and trails into the surrounding woods enhance the setting. Wildlife is present but not pesky, flagstone patio with a nice fire pit. The access road is graveled. If you want a peaceful accomadation with recreation the location is a winner. Lake access for a boat, canoes is three miles away, and Yankton and Crofton are ten miles distant.
We like to share with others the beauty of the area.
Scott Pfieffer purchased this house in 2016
Nice quiet refreshing area. We actually like the area in the colder months enjoying the large wood burning fireplace and solitude. The house is available year round for occupancy.
We recently visited the cabin with 2 other family friends of ours (6 adults and 5 kids under 3). The house was magnificent! It fit all of us comfortably and the view is unbeatable. The cabin was thoroughly cleaned before our arrival. It had all the amenities we needed. The kitchen was fully stocked. There were plenty of clean towels and blankets. There was even a nice flat screen for us to watch football all weekend. It is an antenna TV (but main channels come in great). There is an APPLE TV there so we used our cell phones for hotspots when needed (i.e. ESPN). There's an awesome BOSE sound bar as well. Needless to say, the men were happy. There was a nice open basement for the kids to play and open and functional kitchen for us to cook! We didn't need to leave the site all weekend! Will definitely be back!
We love this cabin!! This is the second year we have rented it for our family, and we would love to come every year. The comfortable house, the lake view, the fire pit, the nearby marina, and the great memories we've made here make it a very special place!
We had a great four days. The property is beautiful. Really can enjoy the outdoors on the patio and the deck. Either marina was easily accessible. Very nice experience!
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. It has great outdoor space and a Fantastic view. The house itself is beautiful and could easily accommodate a large family. And even though it sits high above the lake, it is a quick 5 minute drive to marina. We would definitely consider staying here again.
We stayed at this home over the July 4th weekend. The gathering areas inside the home and outside were perfect for our family.
We utilized the kitchen a great deal, and the bedrooms, loft, and basement provided great sleeping arrangements. The owner, Bill, was excellent to work with. Activities we did in the area included a float trip on the Niobrara River, boating on Lewis and Clark lake, a visit to The House of Mary Shrine, and golfing at Lakeview Golf Course. While at the house, we used the firepit, played yard games, took walks, and enjoyed the beautiful view of the lake while relaxing. We would definitely recommend this home to others. Enjoy!
We arrived for a family gathering thanksgiving weekend and had a fabulous time. The cabin is very well maintained and spacious. The amount of things to do in the area is fantastic. We had such a fabulous time, it is clean, and well stocked. We will definitely be vacationing here a few times a year!!!
