Secluded Log Cabin in Private Woodland near Whitby

Property type cabin
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

Overview

About the property

Sleeps 4/5 in luxury accomodation with all mod cons

This newly built cabin was finished in August 2016.

This is a one off and is set in private woodland with old oak, ash and sycamore trees. You will have exclusive use of the wood and the stream and can treat it as your own. This is the real experience in a proper log cabin made of wood and not just a static caravan made to look like a cabin.

2 double bedrooms, one has a pine double bed and the other has a pine triple bed (a small 4' double bed with a single bunk above). So the cabin could sleep 2 pairs of adults or 2 parents with 2 children or 3 at a squeeze.

The cabin has electricity, hot and cold running water, double glazing and full central heating just like home. There is a well equipped kitchen with a 2 ring gas hob, a powerful combi microwave, a fridge freezer and sink with hot and cold water. There is a kettle, toaster and a slow cooker so you can have a meal waiting for you when you return after a hard day of enjoying yourself.

There is a shower room with a glass shower cubicle, flushing toilet and wash hand basin and heated towel rail.

There is a lounge dining area with comfortable seating, digital flatscreen TV/DVD player and a fabulous log burning stove.

The floor, walls and roof have commercial insulation so you'll never be cold whatever the time of year and is ideally suited to cosy winter retreats drinking hot chocolate round the fire.

It has been furnished and equipped with all new items and no expense has been spared.

Tony and Sue will be there when you arrive to welcome you, hand over the key and show you around. There is small car park just for the cabin and from here you need to be able to carry your luggage 100m down a steep path through the woods to the cabin so you need to be fairly fit and able. Unfortunately the cabin is not suitable for elderly or disabled people.

About Tony Wilkinson

Tony and Sue are working professionals that run a 3 acre smallholding and holiday business in their days off and spare time.

We try to grow as much of our own food as possible and we keep happy hens and ducks, sheep and pigs.

We try to live as sustainably as possible and we generate our own electricity with solar panels. Heating and hot water are supplied by an eco friendly biomass boiler, however you wouldn't know as you will always be warm and have loads of hot water.

Why Tony Wilkinson chose Whitby

Here at Golden Grove we believe in making your stay as enjoyable as possible by providing everything you would expect from a brand new and luxury authentic log cabin . If you want peace and quiet and beautiful surroundings you will love it. We also believe in being honest and upfront so we tell the truth; Mobile phone coverage is reasonable with some networks. There is no WiFi in the cabin but if you can't live without it you are welcome to come up to the house and use ours. There is a new flatscreen TV with DVD player and FreeSat digital channels.

Pets are allowed in the log cabin but are not allowed in the bedrooms. Dogs can walk off the lead in the woods but must be kept away from the sheep and other animals and you must clean up after them.

You will have exclusive use of the 2 acres of woodland and the stream.

Tony and Sue live in a cottage 200m away and are available to help with advice on where to go and what to do. We are there to offer support if needed but otherwise will be invisible and will respect your privacy.

If you are interested we will show you around the smallholding and can talk to you about the animals, which depending on the time of year can include young lambs and little chicks which is especially good for children.

Fantastic break

  • 5 of 5

Perfect stay in a peaceful location yet only 10 minutes drive in to Whitby. Maddie our dog loved wandering in the woods and paddling in the stream. Plenty of sunshine on the decking most of the day but also shade if we wanted it. Will definitely book again for next year.

It was everything we wished for

  • 5 of 5

We were met at the property by the owners, Tony and Sue who showed us round the cabin, and then, as promised, left us alone. The cabin was immaculate and very well furnished and tastefully decorated. If you want somewhere quiet, then this is the place for you. If you are a family where the kids can play without disturbing anybody, then this is the place for you. We loved everything about this cabin, from watching the blackbird on the nest to the wren building hers. Book this cabin, you won't be disappointed.

An unforgettable authentic stay.

  • 5 of 5

Prior to staying at this log cabin, I had a vision of where I wanted to stay and what I wanted to experience. Gladly, this log cabin met every expectation I had. We had such a great time staying here, we actually missed it when we came back home.

All too often, log cabins that I encountered look like any other home on the inside, but you really get an authentic log cabin experience staying here - from the cosy warmth of a real log fire, down to the decor.

The cabin sits in a stunning secluded location, nestled below tall trees next to a flowing stream, which makes for a lovely sight to step out on the veranda.

The hosts, Tony and Sue, were more than lovely, trusting, and very generous. Thank you, both.

Depending on your network provider, you may struggle to get a mobile signal during your stay, but I actually found this to be a benefit in many ways, and a chance to break away from modern life, which was refreshing and what was required.

Cabin was lovely, clean, and quiet.

Tony and Sue were really friendly, and left lots of information on some lovely walks in the area.

Cabin was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We had a great stay 😊

A perfect cabin in the perfect setting!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the cabin for 3 nights and we were delighted with the experience. The location was extremely private and remote and yet only minutes frim the shops. It had a beautiful view over woodland and a brook and the cabin was the cosiest holiday retreat that we have stayed in. The hosts were very welcoming and everything was provided. The cabin had an amazing log burner with wood provided and, even though the temperature outside was sub-zero, we were toasty all weekend! A fantastic retreat for 2 adults and 3 small children!!
