About Chris & Allyson Raines

We traveled to Teton Valley several years ago and fell in love with the area immediately. We have been returning regularly ever since.

Chris & Allyson Raines purchased this condo in 2014

Why Chris & Allyson Raines chose Teton Valley Area

TCR is where we first stayed while visiting Teton Valley & skiing at Grand Targhee the first time. We loved the convenience of the resort & the condo setup that made our stay easy, relaxing & enjoyable. We are so pleased to now be owners & offer that same experience to others.

What makes this condo unique

The surrounding Teton Mountains are so incredibly majestic, while the atmosphere of the valley tends to turn back time. You will quickly leave the hurriedness of home & begin to enjoy the relaxed feeling of this peaceful area. You are surrounded by natural beauty & you will set your own limitations for activities & adventures.

Grand Targhee & Jackson Hole regularly have the highest snow bases in the country--tons of fresh powder every year!

Driggs, ID was named one of the Top 10 small ski towns in the country. Very relaxed & laid back--the quiet, unspoiled side of the Tetons.

Thoughtfully decorated

  • 5 of 5

The apartment was very thoughtfully decorated . everything required was provided. There were many games in the apartment for both kids and adults to play. The furnishings, cutlery, etc were all good quality. and the views made our vacation extra special. The only downside was the grill was not cleaned at all and so we skipped grilling, but its a small fix. We saw a little squirrel neqr the grill and a fox at apartment entrance. Overall, highly recommend this place.

Wonderful condo.

  • 5 of 5

My family of 4 had a great stay at this condo. Everything was updated and decorated beautifully. The beds were very comfortable. The owner was very quick to respond when planning our trip. We didn't have any issues where we needed assistance. I will say that the phone service is almost non existent and although the description of the condo says "mountain view" there was no view of the mountain from the windows, just trees .

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for taking time to write a great review!! We are delighted that you found the condo suitable for your stay, and we hope you took back awesome memories of your visit to Teton Valley! As you mentioned, mountain views do not exist from the condo as it is literally nestled in a wildlife sanctuary. Upon researching my description, I found that "mountain view" actually was added (somehow) through the VRBO platform. I'm not sure how that happened, and I apologize for any confusion. I will definitely re-write my description to clarify views from the condo do not include mountain views. Thanks again & please keep us in mind if you decide on a return visit. Safe Travels!

Quiet and well furnished.

  • 5 of 5

The condo was newly decorated and comfortable. We spent the days in the national park then drove back to Driggs where we ate dinner every night. The trip is about 40 minutes one way but very scenic.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

It was the best lodging place in our 8-day long family trip.

Ample space for family activities, two bedrooms with 3 large beds were big enough for our family of 5 to have a great time. Everything in the house was clean and in very good condition. We had lots of FUN in the house, playing cards, cooking and eating food, watching TVs.

Very disappointed!

  • 1 of 5

When we first arrived we thought the condo looked beautiful.

The wifi is strange and only allows you to connect through Facebook. We have never experienced that before and have no idea how safe it was but since we were staying for two weeks we had no choice. We had basically no cell service there either. There are no views or sunsets or sunrises as stated in previous reviews. And there are no views or anything from the very old and horrible hot tubs.

Almost all the pans were very dirty and had to be washed. Two of which were totally ruined and rusted. I took pictures and sent to the owner. There is no A/C. It is a ground floor unit so it stays fairly cool but this was a really hot week so we had to open the front door of the condo and use the fan to get cold air in from the hall. We couldn't open the screen patio door at night to help cool things down as there was no screen. All the other units had one but not this one. The grill was extremely dirty and basically unusable. The ice maker unit in the fridge does not work properly so it leaks and then you cannot get the ice bin out. The refrigerator kept freezing everything. We kept turning it down but you couldn't read the number it was on because the LED light was out.

Now we could have dealt with the above issues but the one thing we enjoy on our vacations is quiet. The reviews we read said this condo was. They must have been written by neighbors and friends because it was anything but quiet. The walls are so paper thin you can hear every conversation from your next door neighbor including their washing machine and young boys having a free for all. The neighbors above you is unbearable. You can hear every footstep. It is like having a herd of elephants above you. There were 6 people staying above us. We spoke with them in hopes they would try to be a little more quiet but it didn't work. Then because of the heat, they put fans in their windows all night which rumbled through the walls and it kept us awake all night. They finally left and another group of 5 came in and it was the same thing all over.

We were suppose to stay for two weeks. We called the owner on Thursday and and told her we couldn't stay for the second week as it was just too noisy and we were not getting any sleep or peace and quiet. We asked the owner if she could try and rent it out and reimburse us. We never heard back.

And the drive to go around to the Tetons in WY with summer traffic is almost two hours so no savings.

Owner's Response: To each issue raised: This is the 1st wifi issue we have ever had--after several calls to IT I was told it was a user issue. No cell service maybe was because of provider? Again--1st time with this issue. This resort is nestled in a wildlife sanctuary as is described in the listing. Winter guests write about mountain views when leaves are gone. Also, no A/C is listed in the description. New pots/pans have been delivered & new screen door is ordered. Grill was clean & I always empty the ice maker myself after guests leave--not a problem. Also, 2-hour drive to the Tetons in WY? Possibly an accident occurred? Two absolutely incorrect issues raised that we take very seriously: Accusing us of having friends & neighbors write positive reviews is completely false, and the same as saying we are liars & cheaters. Our reviews are from guests only and that is the only way we operate. Also stating that these guests never heard back from me after asking me to try & get a last-minute rental is completely false. I have text messages between us that let them know I had listed it on 11 different online sites in hopes to get a new tenant. That's quite different from not hearing back from me. The unit was not rented for that week, therefore there was no money to reimburse. Finally, things that I did for these guests that they failed to mention: Initially they asked if there was a fitness center at the resort or in town that they might use during their stay. I made multiple calls to find that one was not available. When I let them know this, I offered them to use 2 of our personal bikes at no charge. The reply was "I'll get back to you." No more mention of that. I also made multiple phone calls to IT regarding wifi issues. After IT rebooted the building, even though it was a user issue, these guests reported it was working better. They requested to have a package delivered, & I offered them to use our home address & I would deliver it to them.....again, never mentioned again. The first time noise was mentioned was after guests had already decided to leave early. All text messages were dripping with kindness as they tried to get money reimbursed. This review is the price we pay as they did not get a reimbursement due to no other guests grabbing a last-minute deal. Our positive reviews still heavily outweigh this one negative. We strive to please all guests and will continue to do so.
