Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday cottage in Ray Brook - Mountain Modern Eco-Home

2 Bedroom home on a 1.5 acre treed lot

A unique , new and eco friendly home built with style and comfort in mind. This two bedroom house is great for families and couples alike. Located on a private 1.5 acre treed lot, it is perfect for your Adirondack vacation. It is equipped with everything you need to feel like a home, away from your home.

My husband and I designed and built this property from the ground up, actually I dug underground for the septic/gas and water lines. We are almost finished, just a few more finishing touches and this place will be perfect. I haven't finished all of the decor (mostly I am still looking/shopping/deciding but it still has everything you could possibly need). It won't disappoint.

Highlights: Airy and lots of natural light; woodsy private lot; close to Lake Placid (5 miles); close to Saranac Lake (5 miles); close to hiking/kayaking and boating; close to Whiteface Mtn; easy to find as the property is just off of Route 86.

If you are looking for something different - we have another property listing 491313 on VRBO. This property is 'cabinesque' in the Adirondack style. Also please check out the reviews to give you an idea of what you may expect staying with us.

About Jodi McKinnon

Both my husband and I work in the village of Lake Placid as professionals. We love the outdoors and all of the activities that are available here in Lake Placid. We honeymooned in Lake Placid and every year we complete a hike at sunset. The picture above is on Cascade celebrating our 19th.

Jodi McKinnon purchased this cottage in 2014

Why Jodi McKinnon chose Adirondacks

This is a brand new home! Designed and built by the owners. We built this as a home for my parents - but for now they are not ready to move in.

Eco-friendly (not LEED certified, home but close)

Bedroom 1: queen bed

Bedroom 2: 3 twin beds

Kitchen linens are provided as is a bath mat, blankets, pillows and a duvet for each bed.

What makes this cottage unique

This is a beautiful space. It has so much natural light - it feels very special. The decor is cross between mountain modern and Scandinavian, with a touch of whimsy - it is spectacular! The space is clean, efficient and bright.

Very comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time in the tiny home, which was bigger then we expected. Jodi was quick to respond to questions that came up. A side note, the coffee maker is no longer a single cup so no need to bring k-cups. The cleaning and damage deposit were refunded quickly. We would definitely stay again!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. There still is a Keurig in the Tiny House if that is the preference! :)

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

The house is comfortable and charming and cool! Kitchen is well stocked, beds are comfortable, the setting is wonderful. The house is very clean and well kept. The owner was very responsive to inquiries and flexible. It is in a great location if you are traveling to Lake Placid, we were there for the Lacrosse tournament and the house worked out perfectly. Would definitely recommend it!

Wonderful Vacation in The Tiny Home!

  • 5 of 5

We just spent 5 days in this place and everything was absolutely perfect. The house is very nicely appointed and the location is extremely convenient to all of the area attractions. 15 minutes to Lake Placid, 20-30 minutes to High Peaks region, and 10 minutes from the Olympic Jump Center. The master bedroom was very comfortable for my wife and I and my 6 year old daughter loved the room with the bunk beds. There are three bunks, but the top one is a little cramped. We arrived to find the house very clean and ready for our arrival. Everything you need to know is posted in the kitchen. Judi (the owner) checked in with us via text upon arrival to make sure everything was ok. She seemed to be readily available with any concerns that we may have, but there were none. The outside has a nice sitting area complete with a fire pit and a barbecue. You managed to feel very secluded even though you are really not off the beaten path. I will definitely be staying here again for my next trip to the area. Loved it!

Adirondack tiny home love

  • 5 of 5

My short stay (2 nights) was nothing short of delightful! The tiny home felt spacious, and I think it could easily suit up to 5 or 6 people. I would hesitate to let a child use the top (3rd level) bunk, but the two chairs in the living room are also convertible. Everything is new, all amenities are provided, the decor is sort of rustic industrial chic. The hosts are responsive & helpful. I love it!

Horrible.

  • 1 of 5

BEWARE! Owner took complete advantage of the security deposit and charged us 100.00 for a towel rack that fell off the wall. If you do stay here make sure you note and notify them of absoluteltv anything and everything that doesn't look right! There was also a dog that barked constantly that lived in the house directly behind this place. Good luck to all that rent from them because we certainly NEVER will again.

Owner's Response: We are honest, professionals working and living in the area, and we want all of our guests to have a positive experience whilst staying at one of our rentals. We value the honour system and do hope that all our renters will extend the same courtesy. Accidents can and will happen and damage does occur. This is life. We understand this. With communication these things can be worked out. A good policy to follow is be respectful of other people's property and belongings; do not to hide or cover up the damage; do not remove items from the home; clean up after yourself; be prompt with notification of things amiss. This is good advice insomuch that any problem can be addressed/repaired quickly by the owners and it will eliminate any confusion afterwards. After all, this is a vacation and it is meant to be stress free. In addition, if there are issues with the neighbours’ and/or their noises, the rental owner should be notified. There are village ordinances that regulate these things. With a quick phone call, these pesky problems can be easily remedied/rectified. I believe communication, honesty and integrity are always the perfect bedfellows; if you are the cause of damaging someone else’s property, then take ownership and responsibility. It is truly quite simple to do the right thing.
