New Modern Tiny House with Free WiFi. Convenient Location.

Bedrooms 2
Space 576 sq. ft.
Property type house
Minimum Stay 2 - 5 nights

About the property

2 Bedroom 576 sq. ft. Tiny House close to everything Adirondack with WiFi

A unique , new (2015) and eco-friendly tiny house built with love. The Tiny House is great for families and couples alike and is well-suited as a home base for your Adirondack vacation. It is clean, filled with natural light and feels much larger than its 576 square feet because of the high ceilings and the amount of windows.

We have found space for two bedrooms. The master bedroom has a queen bed and for those beautiful summer and early fall nights there is screened porch. Open the door in the evenings and sleep in the fresh mountain air. The second bedroom is a bunk room and fun for kids or kids at heart. It has three twin beds with curtains when privacy is wanted, or needed.

The kitchen is equipped with everything you need to feel like home and to cook a great meal. It has a range, a fridge/freezer, a dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, blender and even a crockpot. There are dishes, pots, pans, utensils and a couple of gadgets. I love kitchen gadgets.

Interested in s'mores or a camp fire? The Tiny House has a fire pit with plenty of wood around the property, if you are willing to search.

The Tiny House is super convenient to Lake Placid (5 miles) and to Saranac Lake (4 miles) it will give you a chance to explore both Adirondack villages. It is also close to hiking, kayaking, boating and to Whiteface Mtn. DId you forget the eggs and milk? There is a convenience store and a grocery close-by.

The Tiny House has concrete floors that keep the house cool in the summer and are heated for the winter. There is also a pellet stove (with pellets) for those extra cold Adirondack winter nights.

The bathroom has a small shower and a vanity for 2. Leave your hair dryer at home.

Do you need more space? This is possible. The 1.5 acre lot is shared with another, even tinier rental (2 people max). It is a THOW (tiny house on wheels). The spaces are designed to separate from each other and there are no shared amenities unless of course that is your desire. Each tiny house will each have its own private areas.

All in all this is a unique and affordable space in the Adirondacks that is big enough for a family or small enough for a couple.

To keep our rates lower we ask that you provide your own bath linens and bed sheets. Bed coverings: blankets, duvets, comforters, and kitchen towels are provided. If you do wish to have all linens provided, we are able to accommodate for an added 30$ fee.

If you are travelling with children under 10, please be reminded that they travel for free and are not to be charged an extra fee. If that is the case, please let us know and the price will be changed accordingly.

Many thanks.

About Jodi McKinnon

Both my husband and I work in the village of Lake Placid as professionals, but we love to DIY and there is always a project on the go.

After meeting at McGill University in 1995 we honeymooned in Lake Placid and moved here permanently in 1999.

We love the outdoors and all of the activities that are available here in the High Peaks region. Every year, on our anniversary we hike to a summit at sunset. The picture above is on Cascade celebrating our 19th.

Jodi McKinnon purchased this house in 2014

Why Jodi McKinnon chose Adirondacks

We choose this property first and foremost for its affordability and its location outside the village of Lake Placid. Lake Placid can become quite busy and noisy, while super fun to spend the day, we like to come home to a little more quiet. We also like the convenience of being close to both Saranac Lake and Lake Placid. Both villages have unique and different things to offer. Take the time to visit both Lake Placid and Saranac Lake.

We wanted to build an eco-friendly tiny house that would be well suited for our "mature" years and for now allow people to experience tiny living. It is possible to live tiny and have all the conveniences of a larger home.

This house was featured on Tiny House Nation: 12 Tiny House of Christmas in 2015. Upon being chosen to be on the program, I started watching Tiny House Nation and became interested in tiny houses, and especially those on wheels. I knew I wanted to build one. Enter The Micro.

We built the Micro from the trailer up with some of the materials that we had remaining from the Tiny House and our other builds. Purchased the trailer from Iowa and the build was on. Since it was so similar we decided to place it on our lot in Ray Brook. When we retire, our daughter can live there.

The property is an acre and a half and it is a shared property with another rental. The Micro Home is located at the backend of the property (the backyard of the Tiny House).

Guests have access to the entire home and grounds.

What makes this house unique

This is a beautiful space. It has so much natural light - it feels very special. The decor is cross between mountain modern, industrial and Scandinavian, with a touch of whimsy - I think it is spectacular! The space is clean, efficient and bright.

There is an attached cleaning fee, however there is an option if the dwelling is cleaned as per the requirements set and ready for the next guest, then the fee may be partially refunded. Many thanks.

Very comfortable tiny home

  • 5 of 5

The house is plenty big enough, very clean, and decorated with care and whimsy. You can tell the owners take great pride in the condition and presentation of their home. We really liked the location which was close to all the high peaks hikes. My only constructive comment is it would be great to have a comfortable couch in the living room. There is plenty of room and it would have made the rainy days more cozy. Otherwise this is a great place to stay. We would love to come back on our next trip to the Adirondacks!

Cozy modern gem

  • 5 of 5

Absolutely great place for a family vacation with my two teens. Loved the aesthetic of the tiny home and we all felt like we had a place for alone time if we needed it. Ray Brook is a great home base for the many hiking trails, lakes and ponds and villages. Quiet location but easy to get to anything you might need. Two grocery stores within a 10 minute drive. Would absolutely love to stay again.

Another great stay in the tiny home!

  • 5 of 5

This is the second year in a row that we have stayed here and it was great yet again. This house is very centrally located to all area attractions yet offers the privacy that we enjoy. You manage to feel secluded here even though you are not far from all of the action. One change since last year is that there is now another house on the property. It also appears to be a rental. There was someone there for a portion of our stay, but they didnt bother us at all. Could see a possible problem if you had the wrong crew in there, but it did not affect us at all on this trip. All in all, a wonderful place to stay if you are in the area. See you next year!

Perfect Location

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the tiny house-which was not so tiny-for 2 weeks. It was perfect. Perfect location, perfect size, perfect everything. We've stayed in town for the last 4 years and this was the most enjoyable location. Our family of 3 had nothing but good times in the tiny house.

The property was well decorated, but the comfort level could be upgraded.

  • 4 of 5

Overall, we had a great experience in Lake Placid, and really liked the decoration, design, and layout of the home. The overall function, location, setting, and usability of the home was great. The two things that were challenging for us were (1) the comfort of the beds, they are inexpensive foam rubber mattresses and not very supportive or comfortable, and (2) the living room furniture (swivel chairs with minimal cushion) was not very comfortable either. With a couple upgrades to those this would definitely be a 5 star property. Since we were there for the Ironman, having some comfortable places to sit and sleep (especially the day after the race) was very important, and that was somewhat lacking. Jodi was a very nice and helpful host, best of luck in the future!

Jodi was on the property when we arrived .. Gave us some great hiking suggestions as well as restaurants! Would highly recommend the burgers at Lisa G's! We had amazing weather for our daily hikes .. Enjoyed Lake Placid's quaint downtown! I would come again for sure! ❤️
