We a British family of 4, moved here in February 1992 and have lived here, year round, ever since.
Jane loves gardening, cooking, reading and the Archers.
Felix loves animals, dancing and computers/technology.
Oskar, 13 when we arrived, now a builder, very useful here and loves Formula 1.
George, 10 when we arrived, is a talented chef and is taking over the management and bookings.
We have come to love it here and all appreciate the real community spirit of the village and its' traditions.
We are keen members of the village walking club for many years.
We spent our early years here learning the Sardane, the Catalan dance of celebration and go regularly to local .
ballroom lessons - Strictly is popular here too!
Jane Woolfe purchased this cottage in 1991
We had settled on Le Roussillon as the ideal place to live. Beautiful, unspoilt mountains, the Mediterraean and lovely climate. Peaceful yet with a vibrant traditional culture. After 3 years of looking we found Le Paloumé in the southernmost valley in France, next to the Spanish ( Catalan) boarder.
Perfect for our new 'Good life' of trying to be self-sufficient away from the pressures of the city, and a healthy life for us and our sons.
The cottage is gorgeous, the hospitality is great the views are beyond words, the FOOD IS AMAZING, and the animals are so SWEET! All in all a very memorable stay. Thanks!

Adrian & Helen Thorp. -
Ideal spot for group visits, so much to share with friends. We shall return.
Gillian & Jack Penrose, Somerset. -
The main attraction was the animals (better than the peace, quiet & wonderful views etc.) They made it for the kids (8, 8, and 5). Thanks again for letting them feed & help generally. Hope you have as much fun, future visitors. We’ll be back.
Nicki, Steve, Philippa, Alex & Guy. -
Our 5th. year & as wonderful as ever.

This was a perfect location for our October half-term break. After a long day's travelling we arrived late and were so pleased we had taken advantage of the option to have a meal provided on arrival. Jane's cooking is fabulous, and we certainly appreciated it after a long day. The house was well equipped and perfect for our family of four. We used the house as a base for walking, and our children loved walking in the hills around the house which take you over the Spanish border, especially as Jane and Felix's dogs liked to accompany us. We would highly recommend this property, and the food!
We wanted beautiful mountain views and simple walks. A quiet, relaxed vacation with good food and historical sites within an hour's drive. My daughter wanted some animals (dogs & cats, horses would be nice too) around and my son a wanted decent internet connection -- I guess we all did. Le Paloume was perfect. It was spring, warm not hot, cool at night, a lovely stone farm house with a decent kitchen, The owners, Jane, Felix and their son, George (English) were very accommodating and great cooks. They had great suggestions of places to visit, trails to walk, village events to attend and restaurants to overeat at. This stone house has expansive views of lush mountains. We had a great week and really got away from our life & work in Boston, USA. The four of us plan to come back... If you are looking for similar things, we highly recommend these accommodations.
If you like to stay in the hub of the action, with nightclubs, pubs and every amenity on your doorsep then don't stay here! If on the other hand you are looking for a holiday location where you can relax in the most beautiful surroundings, away from the rush and pressures of everyday life then you've just found your ideal location. When we arrived we thought that the view from our gite was fantastic, but the view from the pool is absolutely unbelievable!
We stayed in the smallest gite, for 2/3 people. It was spotlessly clean, and was provided with everything that we needed. Children, (and adults!), will love all of the free roaming animals, especially Rosey the dog.
Loads of places to see locally, or about 60 minutes drive to the beautifull beaches at Argeles.
Don't miss Jane's goumet evening! I must admit I was fearing it was going to be like the 'Goumet Evening' on Fawlty Towers! Not a bit of it, Jane, Felix and George cooked up the most fabulous meal.
If you are looking for a holiday location where you can relax in beautiful, peaceful surroundings then this is the place for you!
We are returning for the third time over a period of seven years. Idyllic location and homely atmosphere make this a fantastic place to be for people of all ages. Jane Felix and family make you very welcome and provide excellent organic meals if required. They are a mind of useful information on good resturants and places to visit, although you do not have to leave Le Paloume to have a relaxing day. In a nutshell
Chillout factor 10/10
Natural beauty 10/10
A perfect location to regenerate your mind body and soul.
