Cove Cottage is brilliantly located a stone's throw from the harbour and beach right in the heart of the quintessential Cornish fishing village of Portloe. The entrance level is open plan with a spacious lounge at one end and kitchen dining room at the other, an open fire to keep you warm in the winter and a sun trap of a terrace which is surprisingly private being this close to the harbour.
Portloe is one of those perfect little Cornish fishing villages, beautifully positioned around a stunning little cove and harbour. Like many such villages, smuggling played a large part in Portloe's history with many tales of cat and mouse games played between locals and the authorities! In 1824, the problem became so bad that Customs ordered the construction of a Watch House, boathouse and slipway in a vain attempt to deter the illicit trade.
Ground Floor: Back door is situated at this level and is approached through a narrow alleyway to the rear of the property it opens into a hallway with doors to a large twin bedroom, a wet room with shower WC and hand basin and stairs leading to:
First Floor: Large Open plan living / dining and small kitchen area, with fully fitted units and all facilities. The living room area has an open fire and flat screen TV, double aspect, with windows over-looking harbour and patio. The front door leads onto the patio / garden area. Stairs lead up to;
Second Floor: Master bedroom with 5' double bed, chest of drawers and window with views of the harbour. Family bathroom with bath with handheld shower, WC and hand basin. Second twin bedroom with storage and locked linen cupboard.
Exterior: Patio area with chairs and tables and secondary raised decked area with views to the harbour.
Facilities & Services
Heating is via electric night storage heaters. The kitchen has a range of equipment. There is an electric oven and hob, a microwave, toaster, kettle and fridge / freezer. The sitting room area has a flatscreen digital Smart TV & DVD player where programs can be viewed through BBC iPlayer, ITVplayer, 4OD etc, Netflix is also available. PLEASE NOTE THERE IS NO LIVE TV, catch up/on demand through the WiFi only. There is a CD player. There is an iron & ironing board. WiFi is available at the property. There is a combined washing machine and tumble dryer on the ground floor.
Electricity, heating, bed linen & towels are all included but you will need to provide your own beach towels. Regrettably no smoking is allowed. This is a dog friendly property and a maximum of 2 dogs may stay at a small additional charge of £25 per week, please note that dogs are not to be left unattended in the property. Visitors are usually able to park opposite the Lugger Hotel above the slipway although there is not a designated space for the property however parking is available at the top of the village in the main car park.
