Riverside - a holiday home that sleeps 8 guests in 4 bedrooms

Riverside occupies a breathtaking position in Newquay on the Pentire headland with outstanding, forever changing, views across Crantock beach, the other side of the River Gannel, at low tide there are acres of golden sand and the clear blue sea with its brilliant colours drifting from magical turquoise to ultramarine. Newquay golf club is a 5 minute walk away as is the bustling town centre. Fistral beach is about a 15 minute walk along roads, a cut through with pavement and then a paved road down to the beach. To get to Crantock beach (for the able-bodied and not suitable for pushchairs or wheelchairs), there is a footpath and then steps down to a ferry landing stage from where you can take a very small foot ferry over to Crantock beach. Otherwise you would need to drive to Crantock beach. You are guaranteed to have that holiday feeling the instant you arrive at your destination.

The property has undergone a comprehensive renovation during the spring of 2016 and now has a large open plan, triple aspect lounge / dining room / kitchen which maximises the superb views. The downstairs has wood flooring, new furniture and fittings, a master double bedroom and a twin bedroom to the rear. There is a stunning family bathroom with free standing bath and walk in shower. Dogs are welcome, although not allowed upstairs. The first floor has a further 2 bedrooms and a shared shower room and the views from the double bedroom are extraordinary. There is a small garden to the front and a large lawned garden to the rear with outside shower (to wash the sand off) patio area for soaking up all that fresh Cornish air.


Ground Floor: Enter through a bright, fully glazed porch into the spacious hall with doors leading to; Master double bedroom with built in storage, 5' bed and beach / sea views. Second zip and link twin bedroom to the rear with built in storage and garden views, large family bathroom with free standing bath, walk in shower, WC and hand basin. Open plan, triple aspect lounge / dining area and kitchen with stunning views, wood burning stove, fully fitted kitchen with all appliances and large range cooker. Further door from kitchen leads to small utility area with tumble drier and further door to rear garden. From the main hall stairs lead to:

First Floor: The stairs open on to a landing area that has doors leading to two further bedrooms; Double bedroom with built in wardrobes and a 5' double bed and stunning sea views. Zip and link twin bedroom with built in storage. Shower room with walk in shower, WC and hand basin.

Exterior: There is a garage and further space on the drive for up to 3 cars. There is an outside WC and shower to the rear of the garage. Patio area in the rear enclosed garden by the back of the house with table and chairs. There is a gas BBQ for which gas is provided free of charge.

Facilities & Services

There is a gas central heating system and a wood burning stove in the main living area. The kitchen has a range of fully fitted cupboards & work tops. The range cooker has an electric oven and gas hob, there is a microwave, toaster, kettle and separate fridge & freezer. There is a dishwasher and a washing machine. There is a tumble drier. The sitting room has a digital TV with Sky Q system to provide Ultra HD Sky TV. WiFi is available at the property. There is an iron & ironing board. There is a travel cot and high chair available. Both double bedrooms have smart TVs connected to the Sky Q system.


Electricity, heating, bed linen and towels are included but you will need to provide your own beach towels. There is parking available for up to 3 cars on the drive and 1 in the garage. Regrettably there is no smoking. A maximum of 2 well behaved dogs may stay at Riverside at a small additional price of £35.00 per dog per week. There is a high chair and cot available on request.

General Booking Information

Arrival / Departure is normally a Saturday.

Short breaks are available during quieter periods.

£200 pre-authorised to your credit or debit card as a security deposit is required.

Low occupancy discounts are available for the use of the downstairs bedrooms only, if staying for 7 days outside the peak season. The upstairs bedrooms will be locked but there will still be access to the upstairs shower room.

Fabulous week in Riverside Cottage

We were a group of 6 and had the most perfect stay at Riverside. Plenty of space, comfortable beds and perfect location. No one wanted to leave! Lewinnick Lofge a short walk, perfect sunset venue for dinner and drinks. We went 4 times.

We would like to return!

A week at Riverside with my son & 2 dogs

A great week at Riverside, which is a spacious & very comfortable house with spectacular views of Crantock Beach. A perfect house for the 2 of us & the dogs, with good sized rooms, big comfortable beds & a very large enclosed garden. Great to have use of Sky Q in the lounge as well as bedrooms. Superb location for all of Newquay's many beaches. Would highly recommend. Thanks

Riverside Newquay

Our extended family had a very good holiday in the Riverside Property. The living area was spacious and well equipped. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding was good quality cotton.

The house is dog friendly which was essential for us and had an enclosed garden with a gas BBQ which we used on a sunny evening.

There is a few good coastal path walks from the house which makes it an excellent location.

Second time we have stayed in this lovely property the location is fantastic to walk to fistful and central Newquay .the local restaurant /pub on the headland is excellent also with great views and dog friendly atmosphere .The house is a pleasure to use with good open spaces and plenty of room for larger groups to have plenty of space. However the pots and pans have seen better days and could do with renewing also the bed in the front room is very creaky as mentioned in reviews last year and the bed in the room upstairs with the TVs in it was very uncomfortable rendering it unusable we were lucky as we only had 6 in our group so we used the other room instead . All in all we had a great stay and love the house if the bed issues and kitchenware upgrade is undertaken I'm sure we will be back next year

The VP family getaway.

Riverside is the perfect property,it looks straight out onto Crantock beach. It exceeded all of our expectations. The lay out of property was good and great for our dog. Garden was great for dog to run around in. It was very peaceful,but near to all the main links to see Cornwall. We will definitely be going to book Riverside again.

Location couldn’t have been better, minutes walk to beaches, headlands and town centre. House is amazingly comfortable for 4 adults and 4 children, good sized garden. Views are outstanding, crashing waves and sunsets every day. Definitely one to revisit

These days Newquay's excellent surfing waters are the town's main industry, where as it once used to be a major export port for counties mining efforts as well as a north coast port for pilchard fisheries. Fistral Beach holds many surfing competitions throughout the year, and also hosts Run to the Sun over May Bank holiday, a VW and Custom Car Show. Both the Womens and Mens Gig Championships are held here, as a balloon festival and surf and lifesaving events. Newquay Zoo now houses 130 different species in sub-tropical gardens in the centre of the town.

Watergate Bay and The Extreme Academy offers you a 'ski resort on a beach' and a plethora of activities to keep even the most active occupied. Fifteen Cornwall, founded by Jamie Oliver in 2002 sits on top of the two mile beach at Watergate offering inspirational views for the young chefs and professionals to create fantastic menus from local and seasonal produce. The Lappa Valley Steam Railway just outside Newquay offers both the old and young an interesting day out. Newquay Airport has made the north coast one of the easiest places in Cornwall to get to, with regular flights from various locations across the UK. The town also has an Aquarium, a Waterworld and numerous immensely pretty beaches for the less active. Trerice run by the National Trust is 3 miles outside of the town is an Elizabethan Manor House and Garden with restricted winter opening times.
