A relaxing week at Jubilee Cottage

  • 5 of 5

We had a very comfortable stay in this lovely eco friendly cottage.

The underfloor heating is fantastic and kept us nice and warm on a rather cold wet week.

There are lovely moorland walks on the doorstep and the lads enjoyed a walk to the Old Inn one evening.

Pleasant Stay at Jubilee Cottages, St Breward

  • 5 of 5

5 of us shared this property with plenty of room to spare. Beautiful contemporary design set in stunning countryside.

Extremely peaceful location. Would definitely recommend and will stay there again. Only slight thing would be that the mattresses could be thicker.

Local pub, the Old Inn, within St Breward is just 10 mins walk away. We really would recommend walking to and from this pub. If you eat there, which we did frequently, you will be glad of the walk back, the meals are very good and enormous portions! Be warned :-)

Brilliant!

Baz's travels.

  • 4 of 5

Nice cottage out in the wilds a bit so car is a must. Entrance to jubilee cottage itself very narrow. Q7 had 6 inches ish either side. We knew it was out in the country and like that very much. Having lived in Cornwall before we knew about narrow lanes. Not for the faint hearted if that worries you. Very narrow high sided lanes leading to cottage. Cottage itself is open plan, clean, tidy and well appointed. Other new buildings being built on same site nearing completion by the look of them. Something we were not told. If you are into horse riding (we arn't) it is ldeal, right on the doorstep.

All in all a good week. Everything you need is here. Phone signal iffy. Wifi kept fading in and out.

A cosy cottage near the beautifull mooreland.

Nice and clean cottage. The kitchen would be better equiped with more pots and pans .There are lots of nice gardens , castles and

small towns in the neighbourhood to visit and the sea is never far away.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. I am a little surprised to hear that their were not enough Pots and Pans in the cottage for your requirements. I have now checked and I see their is a full set of saucepans. So can only assume you did quite alot of cooking during your stay. We will of course review the situation for the future to ensure that a good number of Pots and pans are available for our guests at all times

Location

The nearest good country pub is in the middle of St Breward - The Old Inn famed for being Cornwalls highest pub, they have an excellent atmospheric bar with beamed ceilings and roaring log fires (in the winter of course!) The pub was originally built in the 11th century to house the monks who constructed the church next door. There is also a village shop which stocks a wide range of local produce.

If you fancy sampling other areas of Cornwall, Jubilee Cottage's central location gives really good access to the A39 North Coast road from Tintagel down to Newquay and also to the A30 which can take you further west towards Penzance and Mounts Bay with St Michaels Mount. Wadebridge, once a Market Town is now more widely known as being part of The Camel Trail, the cycle route out to Padstow from the depths of Bodmin Moor, on the old tram way route. You can hire a bike at the start of the trail and cycle to Padstow, now famous for being home to Rick Steins Seafood Restaurant, amongst other properties the celebrity chef owns in the town. From Padstow you could take a boat trip across the Camel Estuary to Rock, and lounge on the beautiful beach that stretches all the way around to Daymer Bay. The National Lobster Hatchery neighbours Rick Steins empire in Padstow. The Royal Cornwall Show ground at Wadebridge hosts the county show every June, come rain or shine, opened each year by a member of the Royal Family. Cornish Farmers have had to diversify in recent years and so has the show, but they have kept their traditional roots with steam engines being shown next to the shiny new high-tech tractors. It's not every day you get to see formation JCB digger dancing in the main ring. The National Trust have three properties nearby, Lanhydrock House, Trerice and Carnewas. Slightly further afield is the Eden Project in St Austell, famously built in a disused china clay pit.
