About the property

Trevigue Cottage - a holiday cottage that sleeps 8 guests in 4 bedrooms

Trevigue is steeped in history having been a farm since before the Norman Conquest and is mentioned in the Doomsday book. The farm has been tenanted from the National Trust for 40 years and extends to 200 acres. It has three miles of stunning coastline with impressive cliffs and the lovely, unspoilt Strangles beach, the haunt of smugglers in times past and more recently of the famous author, Thomas Hardy.

Trevigue Cottage is positioned to one side of the main farm and enjoys great views over the valley and rolling farmland beyond. It is a really tranquil spot to enjoy a holiday. The cottage itself is warm, welcoming and has lots of charm. It is a really comfortable place to relax and unwind after any type of day, be it a day on the beach or a blustery walk along the coast. Please note that Trevigue Cottage is only suitable for up to a maximum of 6 adults and 2 children.

Ground Floor: Porch, leading through to 2 sitting rooms (only 1 available to a couple taking advantage of the discount), both with wood burning stoves, large kitchen diner, a downstairs shower room & WC. There is also a really useful laundry room with access from the outside and an ideal place to store wetsuits, bikes, surfboards and wet dogs!

First Floor: A master double bedroom with 5' double bed, a large twin bedroom with zip and link beds that can be joined together to form a 6' double. A smaller double bedroom with a 5' double bed and views over the valley. A further single bedroom with pull out guest bed (both of these beds are really only suitable for children). There is a family bathroom with WC.

Exterior: Lawned garden with stunning views across countryside. External furniture and BBQ facilities.

Perfect Holiday in Trevigue Cottage

  • 5 of 5

Trevigue Cottage

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at Trevigue for 5 nights with my family and our dog. It is in the perfect location, just over the cliffs to the sea. Isolated but near enough to Bude for supermarkets, surfing beaches and just off the main roads to rest of Cornwall. The cottage itself is beautifully appointed, lots of lovely art work and fabrics. Great to have two sitting rooms to house teenagers and adults. The kitchen is large and we could all sit round the table each night for supper. We met Gayle and Henry briefly who are a lovely couple.

We had great views and it was a joy to watch the cattle each day as well.

I would highly recommend this cottage as a peaceful place to stay.

Trevigue Cottage

Set in splendid isolation this cottage is a truly wonderful place to escape the rat race. Set close to the coast path it is in a great location to explore the surrounding area, Boscastle, Tintagel etc. And for lovers of the night sky (Which I am) the lack of any nearby towns meant that the nights were dark and the stars glorious. It slept 8 so go with a group and enjoy! A quick word about our hosts Henry and Gayle who were just fantastic!

The cottage is located less than a mile from Crackington Haven, which is included in the best surfing beaches in England and was recommended by the Marine Conservation Society in its Good Beach Guide. The scenery in the beach area of the surrounding majestic cliffs is almost unrivalled. At high tide, the beach is a mass of quartz-veined pebbles and large boulders but at low tide, it reveals an expanse of sand and many rock pools. Only the road separates the sea from a couple of beach shops, two superb beach cafes and a public house with a restaurant and fantastic terrace.

As you travel down the coastline, you can visit quaint coastal villages such as Boscastle, Tintagel and Port Isaac, the latter offering a range of fantastic restaurants where you can enjoy the freshest and most delicious fish.

Fifteen minutes up the coast is Bude, a popular tourist destination for both its surfing and fantastic family beaches in Widemouth Bay. The watchful eye of the RNLI lifeguards allows for some of the best surfing in the world alongside swimming and a whole host of water-based activities. Bude today is a lovely sea-side town, the main shopping streets and inter-connecting alleyways play host to a wide range of locally owned shops, restaurants and pubs. There are boutiques, shoes, arts & crafts, jewellery, hand-made gifts and souvenirs.

Six miles inland is Bodmin Moor, one of Cornwall's designated Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Cornwall at its wildest and rich in ancient history, Bodmin Moor stretches for 30 miles through the heart of the County of Cornwall and offers spectacular walking and horse riding.

With easy access to the both the A30 and the Atlantic Highway you can quickly travel up and down the South-West to enjoy some of the larger tourist attractions that Devon and Cornwall have to offer.
