The tour lasts around 2 hours and concludes with a Tregothnan cream tea. It is a very special treat!
Kayak hire is provided for cottages in Coombe. You can pre-book your kayak (£162 per kayak per week, £65 per day for a 1 person kayak) at the same time as your booking. Exploring the River Fal by kayak is a simply magical experience whilst you are in Coombe. In addition, the Estate has a rowing boat available to hire (£186 per week, £65 per day, max 4 person) if you would prefer a slightly more sturdy vessel for your adventures! A mooring directly in front of the cottage is also available to hire (£25 per week) for boats up to 15ft. Gorgeous cottage in a superb peaceful location
Bethel Cottage is really a home from home, perfect for a peaceful stay in Cornwall - walks from the front door of the cottage, bird life on the creek and surrounding woods - also easy to get to loads of places to visit - Falmouth, Lost Gardens of Heligan, Trelissik, Newquay, Truro to name but a few! They really have thought of everything in this cottage - it is so well furnished and kitted out!! The cottage is very cosy and comfortable and we enjoyed the wood burner stove on a couple of the cooler evenings. Great kitchen, good shower and comfy beds - what more could you ask for?! Enjoy!!
Peaceful hideaway minutes from Truro
This was our first visit to Cornwall, and the perfect location! The cottage is in an absolutely gorgeous and peaceful setting, but very near Truro, which makes getting supplies (and giving in to shopping spree urges) easy to do. As Americans driving in England for the first time, the farm track was quite a shock, but my fiance only needed to drive it a few times before he became comfortable with it. The directions provided upon booking were very clear and we had no trouble finding the cottage.
The tea and biscuits which were left for us were delicious, and the cottage's kitchen contained everything needed to cook for ourselves quite a lot during our stay. I appreciated the equipment manual binder, as it's been a few years since I used a convection oven and I'd never learned to use a wood stove properly. We appreciated the informative signs located throughout the cottage, as well as the other cottage binder.
The garden is lovely - even in early March! The view of the night sky surpassed anything we'd seen before. The path outside the front gate makes it easy to explore the area around the cottage on foot.
Lucy was a joy to work with, and hearing her voice on our welcoming phone call helped us feel settled, after a very long adventure (complete with 2 days of snow delays) from the States. She was also readily available to answer our questions.
My fiance proposed on our first morning. We were watching the St. Piran's Day Parade and both feeling very emotional. We would love to return to Bethel Cottage and will always have a spot in our heart for Cornwall.
Quiet secluded on natures doorstep
The cottage was fully equipped with everything you would need. Windows can be thrown open and kept open to listen to the creek and birds from morning till night. Centrally located for days out and essential shopping. Downside is it's not easily accessible either by car or by foot so hot for the elderly or infirm.
Beautiful situation for a home from home
Lovely cottage, very thoughtfully and thoroughly kitted out. We had a fantastic holiday despite not having the best weather!
Quiet, wonderful countryside and wildlife. Beds very comfortable. Go to sleep listening to the birds
Just the place to rest and unwind. Close to Truro and Falmouth which are also interesting places to visit. You could spend aa day just sitting in the garden.
Fabulous holiday location!
Second time around, the weather decided to be not so kind. It didn't matter. The idyllic setting, a good book and a cup of tea make the holiday one to remember. Thank you.
The city of Truro is only about a 10 minute drive away and has a wide selection of good shopping including a Tescos, Sainsburys, Marks & Spencer and many other high street outlets. There is also a cinema and a great selection of restaurants, pubs & cafes.
The resort of Newquay is about 16 miles to the north with its spectacular surf beaches at Fistral & Watergate Bay. Jamie Oliver's "Fifteen" restaurant is located here. Padstow, with its fine selection of restaurants influenced by Rick Stein is just over 20 miles.
The yachting centres of Mylor, Falmouth & St Mawes are all within easy reach of the cottage. There is a watersports centre at nearby Loe Beach where you can learn to sail or windsurf. The nearby Roseland Area of Outstanding Beauty with its superb coastal walks is also a short drive away via the King Harry Ferry.
The Cathedral City of Truro is in the heart of Cornwall and offers a wealth of facilities for the visitor. Dominated by the stunning cathedral, it is one of the south west's most attractive cities. Lemon Quay plays host to many events throughout the year including the Cornwall Food & Drink Festival in the Autumn and the famous Truro Fatstock Show just before Christmas. Regular farmers markets occur every Wednesdays & Saturday and there are also arts & craft markets on Saturdays. There is a wonderful range of shopping for the visitor including all the regular high street stores including Marks & Spencer, Tescos & Sainsburys, but also a wide range of more specialist stores. It really is worth a wander through the back streets and alleys to find some fabulous little boutiques. Truro has a superb range of restaurants from Bustopher Jones & Mannings on Lemon Street to the always popular Pizza Express. There are lively bars, pubs & nightclubs including the superb Old Ale House, a busy Wetherspoons and the infamous L2 if you are so inclined! The Hall for Cornwall hosts everything from Shakespeare to rock concerts and the cinema on Lemon Street has all the latest releases.
