Overview

About the property

Ardevora an Gylen - a barn conversion that sleeps 4 guests in 1 bedroom

An Gylen is one of three self catering cottages in the grounds of Ardevora Mill. This single-storey barn has been carefully converted, with high vaulted ceilings, original beams and very comfortable furnishings. An Gylen is a superb hideaway and is ideal for couples or families as there is a double bedroom with zip and link beds and a large double sofa bed in the lounge.

An Gylen has an inter connection door into, Crowjy Ardevora, which can be combined to provide accommodation for up to 9 people. For larger parties Ardevora Vean (next door, Friday changeover) can sleep a further 2 persons. You will be warmly welcomed to Ardevora Mill by the owners, Teri & Andrew, who really go out of their way to make you feel totally at home in this very special place. Ardevora is the best of both worlds - a stunning rural location (down a long farm track!) but near enough to all the attractions Cornwall has to offer. The nearest beaches at Pendower and Porthcurnick are only a 10 minute drive away, the villages of St Mawes and Portscatho are within easy reach and the beautiful City of Truro is only 1/2 hour away.

Accommodation

Ground floor only: Enter the cottage into the spacious hallway which has doors leading off to all rooms. The open plan lounge, dining and kitchen has superb garden and countryside views. In the lounge there is a large comfortable double sofa bed, the kitchen is well equipped kitchen & the dining area has access to the patio & gaden. The bedroom has 3' zip and link beds which can be made up us a 6' double bed or two singles, as you prefer, and has views over the garden. The 'wet style' shower room also has a WC, wash hand basin, with a free standing shower stool (on request), and non slip tiled floor

Exterior: To the rear of the cottage is a large enclosed patio and grassed garden, which is shared with the adjoining cottage, Crowjy Ardevora. There is plenty of garden furniture and BBQs are also available. Alongside the cottage is a shared laundry room, with washing machine, tumble dryer and sink.

Facilities & Services

Heating is via oil fire under floor heating & electricity. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, kettle, toaster, dishwasher, electric oven & ceramic hob. The lounge area has a TV with Freeview & DVD player. WiFi is available at the site. There is an iron and ironing board.

Miscellaneous

Electricity, heating, bed linen & towels are all included, but you will need to provide your own beach towels. There is ample parking available for a number of cars on the private driveway. Although the owners do have their own dog, we regret that guests' dogs are not permitted. Regrettably no smoking is allowed. For younger guests a cot & high chair is available on request. For those of you that are feeling a little more energetic the owners have kayaks available so you can explore the river at your leisure.

Peaceful haven, surrounded by wildlife

  • 5 of 5

Great holiday, owners very friendly and helpful made you welcome from the start. Accommodation was spotless and everything you could think off was provided. The location was at the end of a long bumpy lane but was well worth the effort to get there. very peaceful, full of wildlife and only a short drive to the beaches. would fully recommend it and will be returning next year.

PEACE, QUIET, COMFORT IN CORNWALL

  • 5 of 5

The location was terrific. Serene, beautiful and close to a gorgeous tidal river. Worth every one of the 3 minute driveway!

The hosts were most cordial and helpful. Loads of information provided.

The nicest place we have ever stayed and we have been all over England and parts of the world.

A Great escape

  • 4 of 5

Fantastic location in the 'real' Cornwall, away from the bustle of the north coast this is a great location for exploring the smaller, lesser known bays, beaches and the stunning estuary of the Fal. Ardevora an Gylen is hidden away down a long and sometimes bumpy track but its location off one of the Fal creeks is worth the journey. The owners are really friendly and full of ideas and tips to make the stay as enjoyable as possible. We did make the mistake of booking as a family of four not realising this involved a sofa bed for the two children (but they loved it!). Next time we'll be booking the owners larger cottage next door.

2 glorious weeks in Cornwall

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I were very pleasantly surprised when we arrived at our holiday let at Ardevora Milll Cottages, we were soon greeted by Teri who was so very helpful and friendly. The place was immaculate, spacious, comfortable and above all so peaceful and tranquil.

The cottage had everything we could possible need, plus more. We loved eating meals on the patio in the very large garden.

We visited The Kings Head which was very nice and friendly too, on the seafood extravaganza night.

The Hidden Hut was great for lunch, and we went with some friends we met whilst down here to the Sharks Fin which was a great night out too.

We cooked quite a bit in the cottage, caught fish and seafood while out on our boat and came back to cook it. Bliss

We have stayed in some beautiful places and travel regularly, we rarely stay at the same place twice. We both agreed are ready to book Ardevora Mill Cottage again for next year it was so amazing.

A perfect place in a perfect location, need to make issue of the kayaks on site when we come again next year, just not enough time to do everything we wanted to do.

10/10 for everything.

Home comforts in a beautiful setting

  • 5 of 5

Ardevora an Gylen is 3/4 down a track in the picturesque village of Philliegh. It is in a wonderful position and a short walk away from a beautiful creek. The cottage itself is immaculate and is beautifully light and spacious. You can hire kayaks from the owners and enjoy the beauty of the countryside from another aspect. The owners have provided everything you need within the cottage including lots of information about the surrounding area. This includes info on the Eden Project, various gardens like Trebah, and Heligan, towns like Falmouth, Truro, and St Mawes. There's also details of boat trips and and a tide timetable, useful for knowing when you go for that walk down to the creek. My partner and our son would highly recommend Ardevora an Gylen. Our favourite spots would be Porthcurnick beach, and above it the Hidden Hut for lunch. For the best pasties try Ralph's in Portscatho, for cream teas the Ferryboat Inn at Helford Passage. Porlue, St Mawes, King Harry Ferry, and the beautiful St Just-in-Roseland church are all worth a visit, particularly the church. All in all a splendid week and thanks to the owners Teri and Andrew, oh and not forgetting the extremely friendly family dog,Tizzy.

Location

The tiny tranquil Cornish village of Philleigh is in superb countryside in the heart of the rural Roseland Peninsula, Cornwall. Famous for its sixteenth century pub, The Roseland Inn. Philleigh is ideally located for exploring the countryside of the Roseland Peninsula whilst only a ten minute drive from the superb beaches around Portscatho & Carne. The D-Day embarkation points at Turnaware Point and Smugglers Cottage are only a short drive from Philleigh.

The nearest pubs are the Roseland Inn at Philleigh, the Kings Arms at Tregony and the Kings Head at Ruan Lanihorne, all or which serve excellent food. There are shops, restaurants and local facilities in Portscatho & St Mawes.
