About Wendy Smith
Bucknowle has been our family holiday home since 1991, but we have spent holidays in Dorset with our parents too. I grew up in Cornwall and my husband in Kent where we now live. We enjoy using the house with family and friends and also just by ourselves. We love the coastal and country walks, spending time at the beach and in our beach hut at Studland, playing golf at Purbeck and exploring the local towns and villages. The house is comfortable all through the year and particularly cosy in the winter with the fires lit.
Wendy Smith purchased this House in 1991
Why Wendy Smith chose Wareham
Our house is extremely spacious, comfortably furnished and equipped. It is sited in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which offers a wide range of activities. The beaches are varied and within easy reach, country walks are right on the doorstep, and the entrance to Poole Harbour marks the start of the South West Coastal Path. The location is good for exploring Dorset and across the borders to Somerset and Devon. The house is great to use all year round

Great place for a family gathering
Here for a family wedding. Even managed to decorate a wedding cake. Good dining area , could seat everyone. Good laundry facilities. Beautiful garden with a BBQ. Central to the area so easy to get to everywhere.
Great place for family holiday
House is very large, well equipped and great place for family getaway. Location excellent for surrounding areas. Would definitely go back.
The best property we have ever stayed in. Absolutely perfect for the family gathering that we intended.
We had a lovely holiday here. It is a beautiful house, well equipped, very clean, and very comfortable. We hope to come again.
Lovely house in a great location for Dorset
The house is much larger than the impression given. It is very well equipped and nicely decorated and finished. There are 3/4 large reception rooms and the bedrooms are spacious. Beds are very comfy. There is a huge garden would would be great for the summer months. We had a problem with the heating not working while we were there which was unfortunate - Wendy did her best to resolve the problem. The house is just a few minutes drive from Corfe Castle with pubs and cafes and a good base from which to explore the Purbeck area of Dorset
Relaxing and spacious in beautiful rural setting
We have just returned from our second family holiday at the Lodge and thoroughly enjoyed it again. Plenty of space for everyone to relax with large comfortable seating. Spacious well equipped kitchen and separate dining room. Fabulous log fire and a large south facing conservatory. Private car parking well away from the road at the front and a large private garden with dining area at the rear.
Thank you very much for your enthusiastic review. We are pleased you enjoyed your return visit.
Bucknowle Lodge is located between the Purbeck hills in a secluded area of outstanding natural beauty. It is the perfect base to spend time with family and friends any time of the year. Enjoy scenic walks along the South West Coast path or through the countryside, spend happy days on Studland Beach or explore rock pools at Kimmeridge.
It's a great location for cyclists, watersports and boating. The local towns of Wareham and Swanage are bustling, charming and are full of holiday atmosphere. A steam train ride from Corfe to Swanage or a visit to Putlake Farm are always popular for children.
