Cute little casita. Two bedroom one bath. Old historic adobe home in the heart of Old Mesilla, NM. Close to many charming shops and an old Catholic Church central to a plaza that plays host to many festivals and celebrations through out the year. Just a short walk from the house to the plaza. Plenty of cute little eateries also in walking distance. A short drive away is Las Cruces, a picturesque town in the heart of the Rio Grande valley. Lots of hiking, climbing, four wheeling, bicycling and other activities readily available.
We have lived in Las Cruces for many years and have enjoyed many excursions into Old Mesilla ourselves. We bought this home in 2013 planning to use it as a getaway ourselves and then decided others might also enjoy the experience. We have been in the rental business since 2002. We look forward to sharing our love of this area with our guests.
This is a lovely little property that is suited to so many purposes. Get away for a weekend, spend a week or a month in our beautiful sunny climate. It would also make for a very cozy and intimate honeymoon setting.
This home features a beautiful and cozy outdoor area perfect for relaxing, dining or enjoying an evening under the stars.
We completely enjoyed our stay at the little casita in Mesilla. It was everything we hoped it would be and more. It was so nicely decorated and gave a true welcoming southwestern feel. The home has what you need day to day in the kitchen and the bathroom is nicely stocked with towels. We did a bit of cooking while there and found what we needed to prepare and serve meals. Also found cleaning supplies to clean up after ourselves which was appreciated. The king bed was comfy and we slept very well during our stay. I thought one night we would be kept awake by the festival but the house was incredibly quiet. We used the second bedroom to store all our gear which for us worked perfect, though there is a queen bed that looks comfy. We watched a couple movies on Amazon, the tv worked well once we figured out it needed to be unplugged, perhaps it just needed to be reset. By far the best part of the casita is the courtyard, we spent most of our time sitting outside enjoying the birds and the activity of Mesilla. There is lavender growing in the courtyard which made it smell heavenly for our entire stay. There are other lovely plants as well and I could smell sweet blossoms off and on. The entire home is gated which we really appreciated on behalf of our pet and the entire Mesilla area is very pet friendly. There was much to do and see in Mesilla within walking distance and so many great places to have a very good meal. I believe we attended the first ever Pecan Festival during our stay which really was fun. I have already recommended the home to our friends and family looking for a lovely place to stay during vacation time.
We really enjoyed our stay. The home is updated, well maintained, and clean. The internet worked perfect as did everything in the home.
The area is quiet, yet full of activity just a few block to the plaza for great shops and restaurants. We very much enjoyed the home's decor that enhanced the experience of this historic southwest neighborhood.
If you love Mexican food, this is the place to take advantage of several spins on the passion. A must is Andele's restaurant, which serves a personal favorite version of Heuvos Ranchos where they add a green chili white cream sauce that is "to die for".
Thank you again, Kay and Joe, for a wonderful place to call home for our visit!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Mesilla! This home is in a perfect location and is beautifully furnished. We especially enjoyed the patio area and hope to return soon.
(I would suggest the owner supply additional towels, washcloths, and hand towels (especially since there is no washer/dryer). Also, we never could get a usable Internet connection.) Other than that - perfect!
Kaye was very nice and accommodating to our needs. This little casita is the perfect spot right in the heart of Old Mesilla. We enjoyed relaxing in the shade of the backyard and the proximity to our friends' wedding at Josephina's. Would definitely stay again. Thanks, Kaye!
Very charming house, which appears to be original adobe construction, right off the little plaza of Mesilla. Decorated in a beautiful New Mexico style. We loved it.
Old Mesilla is a destination point for many people, but when you have a house located right there, you have already arrived. This casita is situated within a few blocks of virtually everything that people come here to see: restaurants, shops, the plaza, the old church, a classic movie theater.
Kaye and Joe are great and welcoming landlords. We had one small problem during our three-week stay, and they attended to it immediately.
There is no dishwasher or washer/dryer here, but we were advised of that in advance, and we had no trouble accommodating (there are plenty of laundromats in Las Cruces). The beds are extremely comfortable, and the casita is nicely decorated in southwest themes. As the property description notes, there is no cable TV, but the attached Amazon Fire Stick provides news feeds as well as movies (guests are given access to the associated Amazon Prime account). The Wi-Fi is good.
There's a large patio area just off the kitchen. Occasionally, a passerby would stop to talk -- something we really enjoyed (people in this area are exceptionally friendly).
If we return to Mesilla, we would hope to stay here again.
