Ironically I am actually leaving this review on the second day of our 4 day stay to encourage those of you looking for a place to not pass this gem by! If you know the island of Mallorca (we did not) you understand that there are many adventures to be found. Parking yourself at one place for your whole trip, I.e At a beach will leave you short of a perfect experience here. Fortunately our daughter is a teacher in Palma and she palanned this perfect
/ great experience. She wanted to be central to whole island so could see it all (both mountains and beach) thanks Bailey. This home is clean, big enough to comfortable sleep a huge family and you will think you are in the middle of Italy with small quaint village feel. You can walk to multiple bars and even a small bakery for breakfast. We drove this AM to a beach that was full of business and tourist and locals but we then escaped back home (20-30 minutes) to the quiet and joy of our personal Tuscan like home. What can I say other don't miss it. Words truly don't describe what you will experience. Thanks Antonia for your generosity and for sharing your home with us.
My family and I have spent a great time at Antonia's place. The house is even better in real than in the profile pictures. Antonia is a fantastic host, a open and friendly woman who gave us all the information we needed. The countryside around the village reminded us something of Tuscany. We will be back in summer. Thank you Antonia!!
About the house: the house is even more beautiful than the pictures depict it: traditional architecture mixed with carefully chosen warm interior elements. And it is equipped with literally everything - you will even find snorkeling equipment and an umbrella for the beach :). We came here with our 3-month year old daughter and we were not missing a thing. It´s ideal for families!
We so much enjoyed coming home from the beach, taking a sundowner at the terrace (with a stunning view!) and afterwards lighting a fire in the big old fireplace. It will feel like home from the moment you cross the doorstep and we wish we could have stayed here the entire winter.
About the host Antonia: She is simply the best host ever and the nicest person you could imagine. She has travelled the world, but she was born and raised in this village so you can be sure that she knows everything there is to know about the island and the surroundings.
Upon our arrival Antonia even left us a welcome basket with everything we needed to get our holidays started and was there, whenever we had a question. She and her husband became our friends during the stay and we will be back for sure!
About the village: from Montuiri every place on the island is within reach of a short distance drive and the village itself is one of the last authentic ones of Mallorca. A supermarket and a bakery are within walking distance.
Also, because it´s a little elevated you won´t have as many mosquitos (if any at all) as you get in those places by the sea.
If you are as lucky as we were, you may be the only tourist there and will be able to enjoy real mallorcan life at its fullest.
So if you get the chance to book this house, BOOK IT :-)!
Das Dorfhaus ist sehr hübsch eingerichtet . Alles ist sauber und perfekt ausgestattet. Es fehlt nichts. Liebe Antonia danke für den netten Empfang und schönen Aufenthalt in Montouiri.

Montuiri nestles on top of a small hill crowned by a Gothic church. Apparently its name derives from this hill, since many historians maintain that it comes from the Latin words 'monte' and 'iri', which mean 'mountain town'. Montuiri is also a place of great archaeological interest. This is the site of Son Fornes, a settlement which was inhabited from 900 BC up to the 9th century and which features two large talayots (prehistoric towers). There are also numerous conserved caves that were used as houses; these are Son Company and Son Comelles.
During the Islamic occupation, the municipality was under the control of aljuz of Muntuy. The Moorish domination left its mark with the buildings of Velar de Sa Torre, Alcoraia, S´Almudaina, and Es Rafal Aixat. In the year 1329 there is written evidence of the village which comprised 145 dwellings, 652 inhabitants 'including Jews but not slaves', the document goes on to say that there were 9 slaves andthat most were Greek and called Jordi! A census in 1996 recorded 2.190 inhabitants, almost 1,000 less than in 1910.
A short distance from Motuiri can be found the Puig de Sant Miguel and atop of which is the Santuari de la Bona Pau, where here in 1395 was a small hermit chapel which grew in 1523 to an oratorio dedicated to Sant Miguel.
