We raised our children making memories at this cabin. Peaceful, serene but fun at the same time. No big hills or steps, just steps from the cabin door to the beach.
Comfortable beds. Kids enjoyed the loft area. Great fishing for smaller fish like sunnys, bass, perch and small northern using the dock or a boat. We enjoyed swimming, on windy days there tended to be alot of seaweed. VERY QUIET and got alot of family time in. The cabin is small but comfortable. Very short drive to Spicer. Only one sink located in the bathroom was only downside.
The cabin is perfect for our busy family who is happy spending a lot of time outside and in the water. The cabin was small and cozy and accommodated our family well. The owners provided us a canoe which was awesome and the weather allowed us to spend a lot of time in the water. They had the most beautiful sunsets. It's a rustic cabin, with all the modern amenities. Only thing I would have done different was to pack more things in rubbermaid tubs, there wasn't a lot of extra storage, we we often had the kids' clothes all over the loft area.
Our family of 6 (4 adults/2 children, ages 10 & 8) traveled from Texas to Minnesota to visit relatives and experience the land of 10,000 lakes! This cabin was a perfect location for us. The cabin is very small, but accommodated our needs perfectly. This is not a 5-star facility, be advised it is more like camping with all the amenities of home, comfortable bedding, full kitchen, AC/heaters, they even had fishing poles, aluminum canoe w/oars and life jackets to fit a variety of sizes. Straight out the front door is a barefoot-able, 20-yard walk to the pier and lake, beautiful sunsets as the cabin faces west. The beach area is a clean sandy area with very shallow sloping water - the end of the pier is maybe 6 ft. Picnic table and fire pit between cabin and lake. As described, bring your own bedding, towels, kitchen utensils, and food. Town is an easy 10 minute drive - Spicer is a beautiful lake resort-type town with every thing you need, even a nice playground for the kids. One day, the owner stopped by - very personable and friendly, he told us about his Swedish ancestry. We received our deposit refund in a timely manner with no issues or problems. (We try to leave things as good as or better than we find it!) When we arrived, the cabin was very clean and ready to move in.
We would highly recommend this cabin, and hope to return some day.
Thank you to the Larsons for providing this facility for us.
Our family really enjoyed our stay here. The cabin was small but filled our needs. The grandchildren (2 of them) liked the loft, where they spent the night. If you are looking for something more spacious, this might not work but was fine us, 4 adults. The fishing was exciting for the kids. They caught their first fish. I caught a nice sized large mouth bass, which we all shared for a supper.
This was a great rustic cabin for a family that isn't looking for 5 stars. You do get what you pay for. AS log as your OK with that this is perfect. Classic Rustic Fish/Lake getaway.
Fish were always biting right off the dock and many larger fish for dinner were caught out in in the lake. The lake has lots of weeds, but in front of the cabin is a nice sand beach for swimming and playing (you might need to rake away the weeds that blow in). The lake is great for canoeing and fishing but do not plan to waterski there, but there are plenty of larger lakes right in the area for that.
Our kids LOVED having "their" loft to sleep in and the dog was in Heaven!!
My sons and I had the best time. It was so peaceful so quiet and relaxing. The cabin was perfect. U felt like u were roughing it but really weren't with a shower, fridge, oven.
They area was great also close to spicer and some great small dams where the kids had a blast fishing.
