Old Boswednack, a perfect rural retreat very near St Ives with parking, WiFi, wood burner and is pet friendy

Bedrooms 2
Property type barn
Minimum Stay 3 - 7 nights

About the property

Old Boswednack is a single storey barn conversion with enclosed garden is designed to offer you a real home from home holiday experience and is perfect for families for children over the age of 8 years old or for couples wanting to get away from it all and just relax! If you love walking, then Old Boswednack can't be better placed to offer a lovely combination of coastal walks or head up to the moors to enjoy the delights of Men-an-Tol, Zennor Quoit or the Bodrifty round houses. The whole area is steeped in evocative history as well as being close to St Ives, St Just, Newlyn, Mousehole and Penzance with their beaches, shops and restaurants. Due to its rural location along the West coast of Cornwall the dark skies offer spectacular displays of stars and galaxies so is special whether day or night.

The granite building has been finished using some warm reclaimed materials creating a cosy and welcoming charm in almost every room. The open plan living, dining and kitchen give a real sense of togetherness we all want when relaxing on holiday. The wood burner is the bosom of the room tempting you to curl up with a good book and regroup your thoughts and energy or, when the weather is hot and sunny, the paved terrace is a real suntrap where snoozing to the sound of garden wildlife leaves you feeling refreshed and tanned! There is a 'shack' in the garden which is furnished in a minimalist, scandi style with calming tones of whites and greys. There is a wall full of books to enjoy, soft seating and a reclaimed wood kitchenette so no need to head over to the main house for refreshments. Back to the main house, there are two bedrooms; a king size bedroom with small en-suite shower/ wet room and looks out onto the garden. The twin room is at the other end of the house just off the living area with two single beds, the bespoke shelving is made from reclaimed timbers said to be salvaged off an old ship. The family bathroom is between both bedrooms and has a bath with shower over a programmed heated towel rail and charms of reclaimed wood. The house has electric central heating with radiators in all rooms. There is parking for two cars on a gravelled area next to the barn.

Your dog is also very welcome to stay at Old Boswednack and we have done a pretty good job in enclosing it even for the best houdinis! (Obviously we can't account for all dogs so bring your longest lead just in case!)

Lovely cottage and beautiful location...

  • 5 of 5

The cottage and outbuilding were lovely... dog friendly and very clean. Perfect location for St Ives and other treasures; coves, sandy beaches, walks & picture postcode locations.

Would thoroughly recommend!

We had a wonderful holiday staying at Old Boswednack, Zennor. The spacious accommodation was excellent, with everything to hand that you could possibly need - a real home from home. We especially liked the separate 'shack' which is anything but. In the evenings we played board games there and it was the ideal place to chill out/be quiet or read a book - a place to escape to!

We would certainly recommend staying at Old Boswednack - the beaches, countryside - coastal walks and St.Just with its georgeous flower planters and not to mention the cornish pasties and cream teas!

Lovely stay

  • 5 of 5

Lovely little cottage to stay in on our honeymoon even when it was pouring with rain outside. Claire the beauty therapist who was recommended in the welcome email was great as well. I had a facial and my husband had a massage, both were really well done. Hopefully we will be able to come back some time :)

Absolutely wonderful

  • 5 of 5

We had an incredible stay at Old Boswednack. From the moment we arrived to the tearful moment we left, the time spend there was a complete joy. The house looked great, with many nice amenities. The bathrooms were in excellent condition; clean, modern, great deep tub for soaking in, nice showers, the fact that the master suite and the children's rooms were at opposite ends of the building was appreciated too (peace and quiet at last)! Outside, the garden area is very well kept and is a joy to walk through while entering/leaving. We would surely book this place again, it really was a wonderful treat.

Great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

This is just a great place to stay: Beautifully decorated cottage, everything is new and perfect in shape, very well equipped. Nice and supportive people in case of any problem. And, not to forget, located at an excellent sport to explore the Cornwall coast. One restaurant in 5min walking distance. Another one and a cafe close by.

Fabulous location, clean, comfortable, perfect.

  • 5 of 5

Had a fab two weeks enjoying coastal paths and cream teas. Have stayed in many places over the years in Cornwall and Old Boswednack is up there with the best - comfortable, homely, clean, and in a great location. Hope to be back again sometime. Thank you Orange Roofs!
