Beautiful and Peaceful in the Middle of a Bustling Little Town

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay in Olivier's home. We were there for 2 weeks and could not get over how quiet it is. Sitting by the pool, you would never guess you are in the middle of happening little medieval town! You are literally a 5 minute walk to the Place aux Herbes (tons of restaurants, shops, and where the market is held). There is plenty to do here yet its quite laid back and easy to get around.

The street the house is on is also quiet with no traffic, it is pedestrian only. You must have a code to access the street by car (which we did) and you have your own parking space just a very short walk around the corner!

Our favorite part of the house is the pool. The whole back area is lovely with an old stone wall surrounding it. Lots of flowering vines and fruit trees. The only sounds you hear are the birds chirping and maybe an occasional cough or laughter from a neighbor!

A perfect stay. Really hope to come back someday. Olivier is so nice to work with. He always responded quickly to any questions we had. Annie who is his property manager is a real gem. She explained how everything in the house works, how the access code and parking work. So sweet and helpful. All in all a terrific stay and we miss it already!

Owner's Response: I am really so pleased the 3 of you had such a lovely time in my home. I fell in love with Uzès a few years ago now for the reason you describe. And I was lucky to find this peaceful place (a pile of stones in a small jungle at that time !). I often miss being there but when I read the reviews posted by my guests I forget about it... You will be welcome whenever you want. I will share your message with Annie. All the best ! Olivier

Wonderful sanctuary in Uzes

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely wonderful week in this space in Uzes. The unit is exactly as advertised - in fact it was nicer than we expected.

It was very clean when we arrived. It is very well equipped and everything is in good working order.

It is quite close to the heart of the town and we enjoyed exploring the streets of the old town and eating outside at the many excellent restaurants.

The courtyard with its pool is fantastic and entirely private. The parking space is very convenient and secure.

Olivier was very responsive and pleasant.

We would stay here again without hesitation. It fit our family of 5 (kids aged 16, 14, 12) very comfortably with our son enjoying the privacy of his own mini suite at the other end of the courtyard. We used the pool extensively - it was very clean and the perfect temperature.

This place would also be great for 2 or 3 couples.

We would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for an amazing experience in Provence.

Lovely home and perfect location!

  • 5 of 5

My mom, sister and I enjoyed our stay in Olivier's attractive home. It was clean, organized and comfortable. (We only wish there were screens on the windows because it got very stuffy inside when the weather was warm, and we were not able to keep windows/doors open in case local cats came in to visit and mark :O ) The pool was wonderful and we enjoyed sitting on the deck in the afternoons. Having a parking space was great as well, because it was safe and meant we didn't have to search!

The location of the house was terrific. On a residential street, with little to no traffic, it was SO quiet! And, just a block away from shops, restaurants and the beautiful Place au Herbes, the lovely plaza where you can find the farmer's market, restaurants, flower market, and shops. The farmers' market was wonderful with very delicious produce. I don't remember the last time I had berries that sweet and flavorful.

We loved Uzes. It's a bit off the beaten track, a bit unknown in terms of Provencal towns. That's wonderful because generally, it means fewer tourists. It's close to many wonderful places to explore (including the Pont du Gard, Arles, Avignon, Nimes, and the Camargue). We especially enjoyed the Gypsy Caravan Museum which was interesting and unusual.

Olivier is a wonderful host, very approachable and very responsive.

Owner's Response: Dear Susie, Thanks a lot for your kind message. You've been perfect guests as well ! I'm very happy you enjoyed Uzès and your stay at my place. Regarding the screens I totally agree with you and they will be installed after the season as, unfortunately, the craftsman I choose to make them could not have them ready this spring.... KR Olivier

Even better than we expected

  • 5 of 5

Top quality in every way. Location is fantastic, in an atmospheric street with a boulangerie just a minute's walk away (and many more further afield). The town is gorgeous. We parked the car in the nearby secure parking on the day we arrived and didn't move it for the whole week, which is most unlike us. We were happy to walk around town, enjoy the buildings, cafes, restaurants and bars, and of course stay at the house. It is too lovely to leave. The furnishings and fittings are all top quality, very contemporary behind the historic facade. The pool is not really for 'playing' - it's as pictured, quite narrow but bigger than we expected. I would say this house is for adults and teenagers not so much for children. It looks as if another building in the garden is being converted so it will sleep 8 very comfortably. The 'annexe' at the end of the garden is lovely and means that more than one couple can stay here and be quite private and independent whilst sharing the garden and the larger dining and lounge facility as they wish. Highly recommend, and Olivier and his local representatives are a pleasure to deal with.

Contemporary luxury meets Uzes tradition

  • 5 of 5

We were so impressed by Olivier's house when we stayed in October 2015, we booked to come back 5 months later. We have been coming to Uzes for several years but never expected to find a property of this quality with a heated pool in the heart of the town. Behind a deceptively unremarkable facade, the house literally hides a wonderful contemporary designed interior within a traditional Uzes stone building. The high ceilings of the ground floor dining and kitchen area forms the hub of property with a lovely shaded patio area outside en route to the modern pool and peaceful, quiet garden space. We did not use the studio but it is designed to an equally contemporary and high standard: ideal for larger families to holiday together, offering some welcome living distance between parents and any (older) teenage children. The location of the house is ideal: so close to everything you could want in Uzes. The street is quiet and there is private parking. Olivier made the booking process very smooth and easy and Annie is a lovely housekeeper, completing arrival and departure admin with efficiency and good humour. We will definitely return!
