About the property

2 BR/2 BA sleeps 6-8 Log Cabin House/Golf Course/W Mountain Views & Sunsets

Come to the Star Valley Ranch and acquaint yourself with the beauty and wonder of the area. Enjoy your home base in our beautiful log cabin house which has air conditioning, vaulted ceilings with ceiling fans, an open floor plan, floor to ceiling windows and a spacious wrap around deck that faces the 12th green of the Cedar Creek Golf Course. We are located on 0.5 acre lot of green grass. Enjoy front row seating for spectacular sunsets from the patio. Comfortable patio furniture makes it easy to spend time out of doors. Our elevation is 6,000', our air is clean, the stars twinkle at night, the summer humidity is low and not a mosquito will bother you.

Our home has two bedrooms. The first is on the main floor with a queen bed and the second is in the loft with a king bed. We have a reading/sitting area in the loft. For additional sleeping, our leather sofa extends to make a queen bed and for extra guests we have two roll-a-way twin beds. For a baby we have a pack and play. All necessary bedding and linens are provided. The main floor has a full bath with a shower and a jetted tub for relaxation. The loft bathroom has a tub/shower. It also has a magnified lighted makeup mirror and two sinks.

You will find all you need in our kitchen for food preparation. It is well stocked. There is a gas grill for your grilling needs. The kitchen/dining room/living room are the hubs of activity. Our long kitchen counter provides extra space for projects, research, cooking and map inspection. Our dining room table with leaves seats eight. For entertainment we have Wi-Fi, a flat screen HDTV with Satellite hook up, a DVD player, a Bose radio and Sirius radio access. Most cell phones using major carriers get reception in our area.

The laundry room is on the main floor and conveniently located in the mud room by the back door. It's a great place for all those extra items. We also have a basement for storage if you need the extra space.

Our driveway is stone and we have ample space for parking. We are on a cul-de-sac and traffic is not an issue.

In addition to having a wonderful, cozy and comfortable home, we have easy access for day trips to amazing places near and far. The drive through the Snake River Canyon is spectacular. Jackson has its own old historic cow town allure for sure. Don't miss the famous Elk Arches, the shoot out on the town square in the summer, a rodeo at the fairgrounds or a look about town. One of my favorite views of the Grand Tetons is north of Jackson at the first view point turn out. Majestic! The tram ride from Jackson Hole Mountain Resort to the top of the mountain is a trip to remember and while you're there order the waffles in the snack shop. If you visit in the winter and like to ski, a day on the mountain at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is a must do. Our National Parks offer wonderful walking trails with easy access. All of these places are one hour from our home. Yellowstone Park is two hours away. It's amazing.

Locally we have an outdoor paradise. If you like activities with water then the Snake River, Grey's River and the Palisades reservoir can meet all of your fishing and recreational wishes. We also have world class fishing on the Salt River, three miles down the road. Seasonally, hunting is abundant and very popular. There are miles of trails for hiking, horseback riding and motorized vehicles all close to home. These same trails can be used in the winter for snowmobiling. Wonders of nature can be found in Afton where the Intermittent Springs are located.

You can quickly see the abundance of activities available to you. Some are as simple as a walk along a stream or a bench sit to view the scenery. We have folders of information for you to use so you can decide what would be fun to do. We love it all and without doubt it's also relaxing to stay not too busy! Beauty is free and much of what we love has no admittance charge. We have an easy lifestyle here and it's commonly called 'Valley Time'. We hope you give it a try.

About Greg and Suzanne Nelson

We live in Wisconsin and purchased our lovely vacation home to be closer to family. We love the out of doors for summer and winter sports. Wyoming has much to offer in beauty, adventure, solitude and recreation. We feel very much at home here. We have retired, of sorts and truly love mixing Wyoming into our life style.

Greg and Suzanne Nelson purchased this house in 2013

The view from the full front cathedral windows brings the outside in. Being closer in distance to family is important. We entertain often where we are here so we can guarantee it will work for you also.

Beautiful Log Cabin Home on Golf Course, Large Decks, Mountain Valley Views
average rating of 4.928571 based on 14 reviews

Our first VRBO experience was wonderful.

  • 4 of 5

This home was nearly perfect for our family of five. We were able to use it as a base for a number of day trips, and it was much more inviting to return to than a hotel room. It was a bit further from some of our daily destinations than we had planned for, but only once did that become a deciding factor in whether to go or not. We were able to get to the Jenny Lake area of the Tetons easily, and for a bit longer day trip, to the geysers and other nearby sights of Yellowstone via the south entrance. Our visit to the Bar-J ranch was an unexpected highlight - great food and music. We did a bit of hiking in the hills near SVR which provided a fantastic view of the valley.

The room spaces were comfortably large. One teen slept on the couch which was preferred over the folding mattress that was available. The roll-away bed was used by another teen, which was acceptable. The teen in the king bed had no complaints!

The shower on the main floor was a bit tricky to use because the combination of shower head, curtains, and wood trim. It took some getting used to in order to avoid getting a lot of water everywhere, and keeping the curtains from clinging to yourself. But it was manageable.

Powered vents in the two bathrooms would be a worthwhile upgrade.

Having cookware and appliances available, including a BBQ grill, allowed our cooks to make great meals and avoid having to eat restaurant food all of the time. A generous neighbor provided free access to his stand of raspberry bushes which was much appreciated. We didn't golf, but it was right there if we wanted to. I'm a runner and the roads in and around SVR were fine for a higher-elevation running experience, and had live animals to look at as a bonus.

The property owner was just a phone call/text away when we needed something. They did a first-rate job of communicating both before and during the trip.

The view of the hills to the east was incredible. We had forgotten what the night time sky looked like - amazing! It was so quiet - really quiet. You might hear folks leaving for work in the morning, or an occasional ping of someone hitting a golf ball, but other than that, it was practically silent.

We hope to return to Wyoming for another vacation and would highly recommend this home!

Very nice clean cabin

  • 5 of 5

We loved staying at this cabin. It has all the amenities one would want to be comfortable. Its location in a small town adds to its charm.

The hosts were very nice and welcoming.

We strongly recommend this cabin.

Iani Varga and family.

Home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Everything about our four-day stay in this wonderful log home was just what we had hoped for. The homeowners are very friendly and welcoming. Greg and Suzanne made us feel comfortable staying in their home, which doesn't come naturally to us since we are not used to "living" in someone else's house. It is just as described: "Beautiful Log Cabin on Golf Couse, Large Decks, Mountain Valley Views." My wife, 14-year-old daughter, and I all found the beds and furniture to be very comfortable. All of the appliances and amenities operated perfectly and fulfilled all of our "at home" needs. The decks provide an ideal spot to sit and relax and enjoy the scenery after a long day of hiking in the nearby Grand Teton National Park. As mentioned in other reviews, it is a bit (about an hour) of a drive to Jackson, but the majority of this drive is through the Snake River Canyon, which is beautiful. I tried to avoid this drive at night simply because of the abundant wildlife on the road. We took Suzanne's advice and stopped at the Albertson's store in Jackson to get food and supplies; although, all of the basic items (salt, pepper, sugar, cooking oil, hand soap, paper towels, laundry detergent, etc.) were already stocked in the house.

I generally note any negative aspects when writing a review. In this case there is only one small concern. "Watch out for the errant golf ball!" This house sits very close to one of the holes and we did hear an occasional "clunk" on the roof of the house. Fortunately no damage was done.

We were sad when we had to leave and immediately started talking about making another trip to Wyoming so we could stay here again.

Paul, Holly, and Kayla

We stayed 3 nights while participating in a golf tournament. A beautiful and relaxing place to stay. Everything was ready to go when we arrived. We had everything we needed. It was very comfortable.

The owners are very nice, and returned our call quickly with answers to our questions.

We plan on staying here every year.

Absolutely amazing vacation in Star Valley Ranch!!!

  • 5 of 5

We spent almost two weeks in this beautiful and cozy vacation home and were beyond impressed! The house was even better than we were expecting and the pictures don't even do justice to this cozy home with beautiful mountains as the backdrop and the fairway and green right off the front porch. The kitchen had everything you could want to cook with, and our kids basically lived in the little fort built under the stairs. Everything we could have possibly wanted or needed was provided in the home. We got to spend the 4th there and participate in all the festivities the ranch has to offer. We spent our evenings on the deck watching deer and letting our kids run around the yard. To say we had a relaxing time is an understatement. I will be recommending this home to anyone I know visiting SVR and we plan to rent this home each time we visit! Thanks for a truly magical and serene time in Wyoming!!!
