Ortona is a beautiful town that stands on a cliff overlooking the Adriatic and is best known for its ancient port, which has always been the most important in Abruzzo.
Interesting to see are the Aragonese Castle and the Cathedral.
The Castle and 'placed at the edge of Ortona, in a spectacular location overlooking the sea, has an origin fifteenth (1452) linked to the Aragonese domination in the Abruzzo region.
The majestic Cathedral of St. Thomas, however, stands in the center of the city.
