Two bedrooms with 1 queen & 1 double bed, full kitchen, television and gas fireplace, original maple hardwood floors in living room and 1 bedroom, Cork floors in kitchen and master bedroom. Ceramic tiled entry and bathroom, walk in shower and separate claw foot tub on lower level. Walk out basement with direct access to trail system. Newly landscaped with large lawn area. Home was completely gutted with brand new electrical, plumbing & heating systems installed. Spray foam insulation was added to be energy efficient and eliminate outside noise. We added central air-conditioning, in time for summer heat waves. We are now connected to WI FI.
This is my childhood home, recently & totally renovated. We are proud of our Finnish heritage and that's why we chose the Sisu name. Sisu in Finnish means tenacity in the face of adversity, guts, 'stick to it'- tiveness
We wanted to keep the feeling and charm of an older home. But we do enjoy and have installed modern comforts (most recent: central air conditioning and WIFI)
My husband and I booked this last minute while at a convention in Minneapolis. What a cozy corner of the world! Owners were delightful, house was immaculate and craftsmanship was impeccable!
We just stayed recently here and it was the perfect spot with enough room for a small family (2 younger kids and a baby.) Its right outside of Finland, which has a co-op store, so if you need or forget anything you can get it there. Close drive to the main highway, but far enough away from all the traffic and right in the center of the north shore. It has both a fire pit and a charcoal grill, and plenty of dry firewood for an inexperienced outdoorsman like me to get a fire started! I also recommend going to the Finland Heritage Site just down the road and take a tour to learn more about the history of the area but also specifically about the house's family history. Judy was a blast! Wish we could go here again but our baby will be too big to fit in the crib next year!
The house's location on the North Shore worked absolutely perfect for us! It is in the middle of all the sights of the shore. We really appreciated the updates the owners have done; it made our stay very comfortable. Very nice Finnish touches throughout. Being that we were two couples, we felt the house was large and comfortable for everyone. The firepit area at the back of the house is both convenient to access and very private. We thought the house was the perfect fit for what we needed and hope to be back soon!
We came here for fall colors and nailed peak time. My daughter and boyfriend were visiting from the Pacific Northwest and they had a great time. The home was well furnished, well stocked and warm. I hesitate to give it further accolades because I wish to keep it my secret but that would be selfish of me, so come and enjoy.
This little house was a perfect spot my family when we were in the area for an ATV trip. We had lots of space to park our trailer and Diane and her husband were a great help with getting us where we wanted to go to access the local trails. Everything around the home is beautiful and well built with excellent attention to detail. The fire pit was where we spent every evening of our stay. With so many wonderful things to do and see around the area we didn't even turn on the stove or tv but it was sure nice to know they were there if we needed them! If you're looking for an ATV adventure on the Moose Walk/Run trail system, I'd highly recommend staying at the Sisu House!
I stayed here over MEA weekend with two friends. The house is so cute! It is spotless, well decorated, and the kitchen is stocked with all the cooking equipment you could need. Ample linens, extra fans, fire place, fire pit out back, plenty of parking, Direct TV, no wifi, tons of natural light. One bedroom is small with a full size bed. The other has a queen bed. The bathroom with separate shower and tub is located downstairs in the walk-out basement, providing an extra bit of privacy. Diane was quick to respond and very friendly. I will definitely stay here again!!
