Part of a £12.3m renovation, the Hope Scott Wing is a wonderful part of the legacy of Abbotsford and Sir Walter Scott, now cared for by a charitable trust.
As our guests, one of the unique experiences we offer is that you and your family and friends get to make this historic house your luxury home - while also playing your part in ensuring the Scott legacy, and Abbotsford, thrives for the enjoyment of future generations!
The Hope Scott Wing has been designed to accommodate groups of up to 15 on a self-catering basis. With seven bedrooms, six bathrooms, one dressing room, two sitting rooms, a cosy library, two fully equipped kitchens, a dining room and a games room, the Wing is both spacious and comfortable. We have a lift, and one of our bedroom suites is accessible (eg a wet room with walk-in shower, and other aids available), with another two rooms having features which should make them comfortable for any guests who are perhaps less mobile.
For guests celebrating a special occasion, a range of bespoke itineraries and catering services can also be arranged such as fine dining in the Wing, and even banqueting opportunities for you and your guests in Scott’s own magnificent dining room! So if you want a flexible package - self-catering at times, but with some catering provided - we can certainly help you with that. (Our catering partners, the Orde Food Company, are an award-winning local business.)
As our guests, you'll enjoy exclusive access to the gardens in the winter months, and every day from 5 pm, the gardens and grounds are yours to enjoy! The house is surrounded by 115 acres of woodland, the River Tweed, and meadowland, so you are in a very peaceful and beautiful setting. There is a smaller private garden and also a courtyard area where you can BBQ, for the exclusive use of our guests.
Other practicalities which you may find useful to know are that we are happy to take up to three well-behaved dogs (this must be arranged in advance) and we have ample parking outside the Wing reserved for guests. Two major supermarkets are three miles away, and offer internet shopping/delivery to the Wing.
