Married in 2006, Paolo and Angela grew up and live in Bari.
Paolo is lawyer and Angela is journalist - reporter. They love nature, traveling and meeting people from all the world.
Paolo Renzoni purchased this villa in 2011
Estate 'Pignataro' was the house of family Renzoni while Paolo's father was teacher of chemistry and agronomy in Locorotondo. The family lived there 13 years. In 18th century estate 'Pignataro' was the official residence of Castaldo who was in charge by the owner of taking care of the goods of his entire Pignataro district. He was also in charge of collecting tax as well as taking care of the justice administration.
Estate 'Pignataro' was built with local stone; it's thick walls are large over 3 meters, so inside the trullo the temperature is naturally cool without to use air conditioners. Ideal for romantic holiday, in the trullo you can sleep well and relax listening birds singing.
Estate 'Pignataro' is the ideal place to spend unforgettable days and romantic nights in the quiet of the countryside of Puglia.
From the pool you can enjoy a view over the valley and it's solarium is an ideal place where you can stay under the sun lying on comfortable deckchairs. The park has illuminated paths, many benches and suggestive gazebo, covered with ancient vineyards, with tables for reading or drinking a good wine.
We had a wonderful holiday at estate Pignataro. The trullo offers everything you need for relaxing, cooking and enjoying the good life! Paolo and Angela are genuine, friendly and helpful and make sure that you feel at home in their Trullo. The garden and swimmingpool are fantastic and Locorotondo offers plenty shops, restaurants and bars. Definitely a great place to spend a holiday!
Lovely peaceful trulllo. Simple and comfortable accomodation with a large garden (with fruit trees and a swimming pool). Nice family who were extremely kind and helpful. Good base to explore the area - we had a really good week. (suggestion - the kitchen needed a few more bowls and sharp knives).
Beautiful environment, the region is fantastic.
The trullo on top of that is really picturesque, cool in the hot days of summer, and lovely, practical kitchen.
The swimming pool is also very pleasant, with a view on the countryside.
Not very far from the sea, but you do need a car to go the most pleasant beaches (around Ostuni, north of Brindisi, and Polignano a Mare)
Angela and Paolo were very helpful in their indications, very friendly. Although we arrived late in the evening they waited for us and took us to the house, took us around the property and offered some advice on what to do and what to see.
We definitely recommend this accomodation.
Trullo del Castaldo is situated at 2 Km from the old city of Locorotondo, from the top of a hill dominating the “Itria valley”, with its “cummerese”, and its narrow streets paved with antic stones. Not to miss its many antic churches; its most delightful cycling along the country paths of Locorotondo.
At 6 km from Martina Franca, the so called: “Baroque pearl” where every July, an Opera Festival is performed, called “Festival della valle d’Itria”.
At 8 km away you can visit the centre of Alberobello, famous in the world as “ Capital city of the trulli”. Not far from Cisternino, and the white city situated on a hill named: Ostuni. For whom loves the sea at only 15 km there are the lovely beaches of Torre Canne and Monopoli with their crystal waters, not far away from the famous caves of Castellana Grotte. For the enjoyment of adults and children, at only 10 km in the Fasano area, there is the Zoo safari, the largerst in Europe.
The Puglia region
Crystal blue sea, green countryside, castles, cathedrals, watchtowers that dot the southern coast, noble palaces, historic quarters, smallest towns, museums, and picture galleries. In Puglia you can experience a multitude of emotions. Land of faith and age-old traditions, you can find the feasts of patron saints, local festivals, and suggestive historical re-enactments, artistic creations, natural landscape, safeguarded in many protected areas. Puglia is land of trulli, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, aggregated in Alberobello or distributed throughout the countryside of the Valle d’Itria. But Pulia, is a land of flavors and fragrances, with bread, fruits, wine and oil coming from magnificent, centuries-old Apulian olive trees, just steps from the sea.
The Locorotondo area
White Locorotondo is the most beautiful balcony in Murgia dei Trulli. From its belvedere, you can admire territory that at times seems emotional: a mosaic made of small vineyards surrounded by stoned walls, scrubs of Mediterranean forests and silver olive tree gardens that surround the old manor farms, thousands of trullo houses spread in the villages. The small old centre of Locorotondo is closed into its circular perfection of stones and mortars, once upon a time marked by walls. Characteristic peaky roofs made of grey stoned “chiancarelle”, called cummerse, exalt the facades, that inside represent the typical environment of star vaults.
