Cozy and welcoming 1 bedroom cottage on Pickerel Lake. Sleeps 4.

Bedrooms 1
Space 420 sq. ft.
Property type cottage
Minimum Stay 2 - 7 nights

About the property

Located in Pickerel, WI, this recently remodeled cottage sits 25 feet from the water's edge. The property has some of the best swimming frontage on the lake. This 1300 acre recreational lake is also great for boating, skiing, fishing, kayaking, and canoeing. Pier and paddle boat available for use; some flotation devices available.

The bedroom has a queen size bed with window seat for storage during your stay. Living area has a queen size fold out couch. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you should need during your stay, including a couple basic spices.

The cottage has a large 14 x 16 ft deck with ample seating perfect for viewing all lake activities including both sunrises and sunsets. A large fire pit for roasting marshmallows and telling ghost stories sits a couple steps from the cottage.

Don't feel like cooking? Take a short walk down the road to the Final Lap where you can get a cold drink, great pizza, chicken wings, burgers, etc. They also offer movie rentals and a place to play a couple games of pool or darts or participate in karaoke every other Saturday evening.

Guests will need to bring their own bed sheets, and bath and kitchen towels. Some blankets and pillows are available. Guests will want to bring their groceries with them as the closest full size grocery store is a 30 minute drive. A well stocked convenience store for last minute items is 5 miles away.

We want every guest to arrive to a clean and welcoming cottage. Guests are asked to clean and put away all dishes and take leftovers home. The owners don't live on site so guests are asked to take their trash to the local recycling center on the way out of town.

Guests with pets should consider the following house rules: 1) pets are not allowed on any furniture; 2) pets should not be left unattended in the cottage to reduce risk of damage; and 3) pet waste should be cleaned up and disposed of promptly. We have a large enough yard for dogs to play in. PLEASE be a good neighbor and ensure pets stay in our yard and off of the neighboring properties.

Need more room? Additional sleeping space available in 30 ft camper on premises. A separate couch and kitchen seating area convert to sleeping space. There are no working restroom facilities in the camper. Additional rental costs apply. Please call 608-516-0489 for more information.

About Bob & Kerry Hanko

We bought this property because for more than 25 years we have enjoyed time with our children and extended family in the area. This property allows us to continue the tradition as our family grows and we can watch our grandchildren enjoy the same experiences with cousins as our children did with theirs while growing up. We have several family and extended family members that also own cottages on the lake so the area provides a place for us to get together throughout the year.

Bob & Kerry Hanko purchased this cottage in 2010

Why Bob & Kerry Hanko chose Northern Wisconsin

We selected this property because it is closer to the water than almost any other property on the lake. The property was the original resort on the lake in the early 1900s. The property has both the original office/lodge (aka Dragonfly Lodge) and one of the seasonal cottages (Summer Cottage) on the premises. Both buildings needed some updates and TLC - two challenges we were willing to face. We are still working on the Dragonfly Lodge, but the Summer Cottage is ready to share with others. I love this little cottage and could spend my entire summer sitting on the deck watching the boats, ducks and eagles going by and listening to the loons every evening.

Cottage by the Lake

  • 5 of 5

Very nice clean cottage and is truly is on the lake. We brought our boat and was concerned about the boat launch and a pier for docking, not to worry, this cottage has a very nice boat launch within walking distance of the cottage (two blocks) and two boat docks for your use. The cottage is well stocked with kitchen utensils including "bread pans". The tv works great and there are plenty of movies to watch on rainy days if you choose to do so. We found that there are two good eating places there for steaks, chicken and ribs if you get tired of burgers. Overall, our stay was very pleasant and the owners were very helpful. We caught nice pan fish and liked "checking out" the various bars on the lake for a quick burger after a day of fishing. One more thing, if you do go up late in the year you might want to bring extra blankets for the cool nights just in case.

Owner's Response: Thanks for staying with us. We are glad you had a pleasant week. The downfall of not getting to meet everyone is that we can't tell you where the 'extras' are stored! Extra blankets are hidden under the bed :) Hope you can stay with us again.

Lovely cabin!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay! It was SO nice to be right on the water and wake up to the lake. We fished, played games, watched movies, met some people at the local bars. It was great to be away from home but still have the cozy feel. Also I loved the fully usable kitchen so we could cook when we didn't feel like going out. The leaves were just starting to change so the views were awesome. We will definitely be back!

A very pleasant and relaxing four days

  • 4 of 5

The cottage was just as nice as the picture and I loved that it was fully stocked. My friends and I enjoyed ribeye steaks on the grill and along with it was a picture perfect sunset. I loved the geese, hearing the call of the loon and the friendly chipmunk scampering around. Bob and Kerry, your cottage was wonderful. Thank you! I definitely want to come back next year.

Sincerely, Becky
