About Keith & Clare Williams

Clare and myself are keen travelers and along with our daughter Hannah have visited many countries around the world. We have always had a love of Italy and decided to buy a property there in Puglia in 2005. We originally lived in Scarborough but moved to York which is a great place to live with good links to other places in the UK.

Keith & Clare Williams purchased this villa in 2005

Why Keith & Clare Williams chose Latiano

Villa Fredavera is named after our mothers Freda and Vera. The property is situated in the countryside approximately 20 minutes from the Adriatic Coast and 60 minutes from the Ionion Coast. All the surrounding towns offer there own unique identification offering great opportunities for wonderful restaurants and markets. The beaches are both public or privately owned Lidos so you always have a choice. The locals are great and the prices very reasonable and you will love the food.

What makes this villa unique

Villa Fredavera offers a beautiful mature garden with a large pool and patio area, so you can enjoy the fantastic weather found in this region of Italy. With a 2.4 metre high wall surrounding the property you have complete privacy. The villa has a large veranda on the property so you can escape from the sun and enjoy the shade, there are 2 outside dining tables situated on the veranda or down at the pool area under the pergola so you can eat where you like.

A fantastic stay

  • 5 of 5

Our overall experience was incredibly positive. This is a lovely tranquil place with excellent facilities and a fantastic outdoor space. The pool is lovely and our kids loved playing in the extensive grounds (although watch out for the prickly cactus plants at the back of the property!)

The BBQ and pizza oven are superb! We cooked some great feasts on here and ready-made pizza dough is sold in every supermarket, in case you’re not Jamie Oliver. We enjoyed many warm nights, sitting at one of the two outdoor dining areas with ambient light from candles and the excellent exterior lighting throughout the grounds. Lovely surroundings, good food, wine, beer, family and Spotify! Perfecto!

The kitchen is small and the main bathroom a bit dated, but these should not impact the quality of your stay. It didn’t affect us that is for sure. A holiday to Puglia in the countryside should be all about the outdoor experience anyway, which is excellent.

The agents are friendly and responded to our every need quickly and without fuss. Jerry, an English chap who looks after the pool, is also a top bloke and has some great tips on what to do in the local area if you happen to meet him. One such tip was a lovely Italian restaurant in San Vito. A second floor restaurant overlooking the cathedral. It is a lovely place with a friendly owner, who speaks good English, and excellent food.

Local beaches take 20 minutes to drive to and there are many to choose from. We liked Pantangiani but there are loads. Sunbeds and umbrellas cost around £25 Euros per couple but there are free public areas on most beaches and lots of exclusively public beaches too. Check Google Maps (satellite) for a sandy one if you don’t like pebbles. The local waterpark near Manopoli is worth a look (Egnazia), and there is a nice little park in the centre of San Vito (near where the local market sets up) if you have little ones.

There is an excellent shopping mall with a huge supermarket 15 minutes away near Mesagne (search for Auchan). But if you want food supplies, the excellent Famillia on the edge of San Vito is a great place to go. And for quick, everyday stuff, Lidl is five minutes’ drive from the villa. All in all – everything you could want is in easy reach.

We also visited some beautiful towns. Ostuni (30-40 mins drive) and Alberobello (1 hour) you must see. Polignano a Mare is also stunning and is just over an hour away too. But there are so many more, we will be back.

Great Family Holiday

  • 5 of 5

Great week in the sun with all the family. This is a lovely private villa with large grounds and great pool and patio area. Kids loved it and couldn't get them out of the pool. Our stay was very comfortable. Enjoyed trips out to San Vito and Mesagne along with Brindisi. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent stay at Villa Fredavera

  • 4 of 5

Just came back from a fabulous week's stay at Villa Fredavera. The villa offered perfect relaxation for all the family and we thoroughly enjoyed the pool and outside dining. The Villa is set in a very peaceful location, not much nearby but close enough to local shops and restaurants in San Vito. Highly recommended and cannot wait to retuen. A big thank you to Gerry and Angela

Return to Vlla Fredavera - So Good had to go back!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from this fantastic villa having spent 2 wonderful weeks with our friends, the Villa catered for us all perfectly (4 adults 4 children 2 x 12yrs 1 x 11yr and 1 x 9 yrs). We made good use of the pool as its so great and there is plenty of shade to be found in the grounds too, there is new bigger hammock this year!

Puglia is so beautiful there is so much to see, every place we went to had its own special charm that includes the people too. This year we to a Martina Franco, Lecce, Ostuni, Oria, and Polygiana and we were not disapplonted.

On a practical basis we found the region to be very reasonable, you can get a kilo of peaches for about 1 euro, 6 large bottles of water cost just over 1 euro, huge water melons varied between 50cents and 2 euros. Eating out was very reasonable too pizza for 8 with shared antipasta and drinks cost about 85 euros.

The beaches were as beautiful as ever too, we used one 20 minutes away which was perfect.

Anyone reading this and thinking of going dont hesitate. Keith and Clare were both fantastic to deal with and very kind and helpful. Gerry in Italy was great too, the villa was spotless on arrival and the welcome pack includes everything you need and more!

2 visits are not enough we will definately be returning in the future!

Peace and quiet

  • 4 of 5

Stayed here with our teenage sons for two weeks. In every respect the villa lived up to the description on the website - no surprises.

A clean, well-maintained house set in its own grounds with no-one else living nearby. Other than the occasional passing car or tractor, total peace and seclusion.

The owner, and the owner's local representative, provided all of the help and support that was required.

We have stayed in 30+ villas over the years and would rate Fredavera highly - a nice villa in excellent surroundings (provided you want seclusion) at a rental that represents good value for money.

Fantastic Villa & Holiday

  • 5 of 5

Villa Fredavera was wonderful, the pictures do not do it justice. We would recommend the villa to anyone! We stayed there the last two weeks in August with friends, there were 4 adults and 4 children (Aged between 8 & 11) and we were well catered for. The inside kitchen is very small and was easily crowded however this did not matter as we used the cooker and oven outside an awful lot.

The pool was perfect and most importantly not too slippery around the outside, there was also plenty of shade to be found amongst the trees, the hammocks were well used too!

Both the owners and the agent could not have been more helpful, they answered all our questions and supplied us with good directions, we were met in the town and led to our villa which helped. The only thing we would recommend would be to take some water for your arrival as we did not have any included in the welcome pack and as we arrived late at night we did not want to venture out, however us adults were o.k as there were bottles of beer and wine !

The Villa is situated in an ideal spot to see the area, Puglia is so beautiful and the Italians are very friendly,we had some fun trying to get understood as English was not always used, this is what made it so great! There are plenty of places to visit, Ostuni, Mesagne, Cisternino, Alberabello, Lecce and Galipoli were all fantastic. We found the beaches in the South( Procutio) were the best but did mean a longer drive (1 hour) but well worth the trip. We also found a beach nearby that was nice and only 20 minutes away, they were very safe for children, young ones included as the sea was really shallow for ages.

A car is essential, as the villa is situated in the middle of the countryside just out side the town, which was great as the children could laugh and play freely.

Whilst we were away one of the children was ill with an ear infection, the agent was brilliant and so helpful, he explained that the pharmacies would give out anibiotics over the counter without the need to see a doctor which we did!

There were big supermarkets near by with plenty of fresh fruit and veg (So Cheap!) we tended to use Aucian (10 mins away). Plenty of restaurants too, all were great, we especially enjoyed eating the antipasti.

Have never been anywhere before where we felt there was still so much left to see and do, have fallen in love with Italy and can't wait to return!
