La Salle offers flexible accommodation, equally suitable for small family gatherings, friends or for larger groups. Accessed by a private tree lined drive and with ample parking La Salle has been lovingly restored to its former splendour. The house retains all its charm with many features such as characterful oak beams, thick stone walls, original fireplaces, walnut staircase and magnificent oak front door. Furnishings are carefully chosen in the French country style and are of excellent quality. All bedrooms in the en suite accommodation are individually and stylishly decorated with a touch of 'chateau chic'. There is a well equipped kitchen and lots of recipe books with inspiring titles such as 'Goose fat and garlic' and 'Memories of Gascony' and the many daily markets offer a variety of fresh local produce. The kitchen leads to the comfortable family room and onto the large south facing terrace, where the large dining table and comfortable seating area is perfect for those long lunches or evenings with family or friends where you can chat and relax with the lingering scent of lavender and lemon blossom, and watch the wonderful sunsets. St Puy is centrally situated to visit the surrounding area in which 'there is something for everyone'. Daily markets, beautiful villages, art galleries, restaurants, Chateaux and tastings, walks, cycle tracks, waterparks, themepark and much more await.
My husband, myself and our son are lucky enough to live here in this beautiful unspoiled region of France. my son goes to school nearby and we have a business here so this is a real family home.
Jill Whaley purchased this farmhouse in 2000
Close to the historical bastide village of St Puy with it's own Chateau, boulangerie, cafe/restaurant, shops, doctors and play area and tennis courts there is everything you need.
Within walking distance of the village of St Puy, 10 - 15 minutes where you can walk for your daily bagette or sit in the café with a glass of wine and watch the world go by. Magnificent views of the distant Pyrenees mountain range can be seen from the village on clear days.
This was my first stay in this region, and definitely not my last.
Jill and Terry have done an amazing job in renovating and refurbishing the house; a traditional, totally charming retreat set in beautiful gardens. Its location is perfect for exploring the region or for simply relaxing and with such knowledgeable hosts there was always an abundance of gorgeous local food, vino or recommendations for culinary delights nearby.
We were 5 adults, plus the dog, shattered and weary and desperate for a good holiday. We left La Salle after two weeks feeling renewed, recharged and contented knowing that we had chosen wisely, and we all know that feeling when we wish we hadn't bothered. We were suntanned, a stone heavier, and thanks to the local Chateau and their production of excellent (cheap) wines our kidneys were plumper too. Even the dog was bouncier and for a springer puppy that's a sight to behold. Needless to say we have already booked for our return holiday in 2017. We were impressed with the following: Decent equipment in the kitchen, robust utensils, good serving dishes, proper coffee machine etc, not the usual skanky stuff that can be found in some rental properties. The oven, not that we used it much, as we used the very good quality bbq was in good working order and large enough for a family. The bathrooms, all en-suite were well thought out, the showers were powerful and plenty of hot water too. The gardens are gorgeous and cared for with love. The fridge freezer is huge, with the added bonus of fresh ice on tap, very handy to keep that Rose wine cool. There are excellent supermarkets close by. The peace and quiet was one of the highlights for us. We live in central London and with its constant noise, it was sheer bliss listening to bees humming around the lavender and nothing else. The pool was warm and good for doing the odd length when lethargy got the better of us, and set nicely away from the house. On reflection and reading this review we were impressed with everything! Our final evening, we barbecued, we sat outside late into the night star gazing, there is no light pollution and the sky was unimaginably beautiful, and, dare i say it, a rather romantic end to our perfect holiday. Well done Jill and Terry for creating a little bit of paradise for us weary souls to recharge and carry on.
Jill and Terry were very welcoming and extremely helpful in providing local advice and guidance. Living on site it also meant they were readily on hand for any assistance we needed but equally they respected our privacy at all times. La Salle was beautifully restored and was exceptionally well equipped - especially the kitchen. The pool and gardens were ideal for the hot weather (34 degrees) during our second week and had a very large shaded area with comfortable seating and table facilities for evening dining. We can thoroughly recommend the restaurant at L'Etage du Angeline in La Romieu. A boulangerie is literally 5 minutes away in St Puy and there are plenty of towns and attractions to visit in the local area. We definitely hope to visit again in the near future. This is a beautiful part of France and must be visited.
La maison était très grande et totalement conforme aux photos. Les propriétaires sont très disponibles mais pas du tout envahissants. Le temps était évidement de la partie, nous avons profité pleinement de la piscine et de toute cette belle région. A recommander.
