Named for a rare Irish trout, Gillaroo House is a beautiful, comfortable and practical home. Modern and well-furnished, this large 4 bedroom, 3 bath home has space for your group to spread out and enjoy relaxing days in this quiet riverfront Russian River neighborhood.

Indoors: Gillaroo House is a two-story home with the entrance on the lower level. As you walk in the front door, the open living/dining/kitchen is to the right, and doors to one full bath and the downstairs bedroom are straight ahead. The staircase to the upper floor is to the left. Natural light illuminates the main living area. The living room offers a flat screen television for watching cable TV as well as a DVD player. A fully-equipped kitchen offers a gas range, dishwasher and icemaker. Upstairs features 3 bedrooms and 2 full bathrooms. The master bedroom is a world unto itself with a luxurious Queen bed, private balcony with views of the hills (and a tiny peak of the river) and a master bathroom with a Jacuzzi tub, walk-in shower and double vanity. A walk-in closet is located off the master bathroom. The second bedroom features a Queen bed; the third bedroom features a Queen bed and a Twin bunk bed. There is a full bathroom with a tub/shower combo off the hallway.

Outdoors: Sunshine is abundant in this location. Various areas of the outdoor living space alternate between sun and shade throughout the day to suit everyone’s preference. The large front porch has French doors leading into the inside dining area and looks out over a small landscaped yard and driveway. The side patio has a gas barbecue and a lovely outdoor dining set. To the back of the house is the master bedroom balcony and a gate leading out to a small graveled riverfront lane.

Access to a large neighborhood beach is less than half a block from the back gate, just four doors down. Gillaroo House is surrounded by a tall privacy fence.

MAXIMUM OCCUPANCY: The maximum occupancy at Gillaroo House is 10.

QUIET HOURS: Quiet hours are from 10:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m. Outdoor amplified sound is prohibited at any time.

PARKING: On-site parking is permitted for a maximum of 4 vehicles. RVs, trailers and campers are prohibited, per the Sonoma County Vacation Rental Ordinance.

About Russian River Vacation Homes

We are Russian River Vacation Homes, a part of D&G Equity Management, Inc., a family owned and locally owned/operated property management company.

Our Story:

In 1980, D&G founders and owners Michael and Patty saw a need in the area for habitable, affordable housing. At that time, many of the little cabins along the Russian River, originally built as summer cabins, were unsuitable for year-round occupancy. D&G assisted property owners with fixing up and renting their cabins. As the largest property management company in western Sonoma County, D&G Equity Management continues to be a staple in the Russian River community.

Russian River Vacation Homes is an off-shoot of D&G. One fine day in 1985, Michael's client, Bob, asked "Hey Mike, can you rent my cabin out just for the week or weekend instead of by the month?" Michael said "Sure!" and Russian River Vacation Homes was born. As renting vacation rentals became more popular, Russian River Vacation Homes grew into a full-time business with its own office. Today, Russian River Vacation Homes professionally manages over 60 high-quality vacation rentals.

Why Russian River Vacation Homes chose Sonoma County

Guerneville is the largest town on the Russian River, and has a variety of excellent restaurants and shopping. There are many wineries within 15-20 minutes. Guerneville is also home to the amazing Armstrong Woods, and it's just a quick drive out to the coast! Guerneville is a fun and free spirited town that makes for a great getaway!

What makes this house unique

This is the Vacation Beach neighborhood of Guerneville, named in part for the Vacation Beach Road which is the summer dam and temporary roadway installed during the summer months. This road is a great short cut to get to Guernewood Park or anywhere west of downtown Guerneville. The dam and road are generally in from mid-June to mid- or late September. The exact dates change each year depending on water flow and a bevy of data from the Department of Fish and Game and Russian River Recreation and Parks Department. If you’re here while the dams are in, this is a great spot to hang out! Just above the dam, the water is deep and calm – great for fishing or paddling. The section just below the dam and the road is shallower and great for splashing! And a Great Blue Heron often hangs out at the dam – see if you can see it! Follow Orchard Avenue southwest until you reach Beach Avenue and Vacation Beach Road, turn right and you’re at the dam. Be especially careful walking to the river along Vacation Beach Road – cars can go very fast here! Vacation Beach is marked on the map with blue waves.

On the corner of Orchard Avenue and Beach Avenue is a great little playground with a jungle-gym, grassy area and half basketball court. Our own neighborhood beach is super easy to get to! Go out the back gate, turn left and cross the street. The path to the river is a bit narrow at the beginning of the season and gets wider as it gets more use.

Canoes and Kayaks can be rented locally from King's Sport and Tackle year round, and seasonally from Johnson's Beach and Monte Rio Beach. Water Trek Eco Tours rents boats in Jenner, along with providing guided excursions. Burke's Canoe provides pick up service after a day floating down the river during the summer months. Big enough for the family

The house is big and open- the kitchen could have been stocked better but they do have a big coffees maker which was awesome. I don't think I would stay again - the houses are built on top of each other and my boys were playing a game in the afternoon (30/32/34 years old) and had neighbor complaints. Also we weren't notified until we read it on the news that the river was closed (blue green alge) next time Healdsburg (where we ended up spending our time). The beds are not very high quality and I hate to give it a 3 but it's mostly the surrounding area and the rental agency. Ten days and still no deposit return.

Family Friendly house

This house was great for my three sons, their wives and us. The kitchen had beautiful appliances but wasn't stalked well with containers (no biggie). My reason for a 4 vs a 5 is the neighbors are very close (enough to complain when playing a game outside (at 4:30pm) and the river had a recent Blue Green Algae bloom that we weren't notified of until arrival. That made things hard to work around with a 10 month old AND us. It is close to the river but we couldn't use the river. Also the beds were not very comfortable, but the house had a great floor plan, which provided plenty of games around the big table. Thank you

Great Well-Furnished Vacation House

The house was wonderful, clean and modern and well maintained. Kitchen appears very new, equipment and appliances are fantastic--we cooked dinner and two breakfast/brunches for seven people--and the layout is spacious and open to the living area, so cooking and eating can be a cooperative and social activity. The long dining table has bench seats along the sides, which are naturally not quite as comfortable as individual chairs with backs, a bit more rugged. But the couches in the adjacent living area are spacious and comfortable, and conversation can extend between both. Bedrooms, beds, and baths were likewise modern, comfortable, and well maintained.

Comfortable and Convenient

Our family really enjoyed the Gillaroo House. We stay in a lot of vacation rentals and this is now one of our family's favorites. So Many houses we have stayed in were not clean even though the pictures looked ok on the website. We were pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness and overall freshness of this house. The wood floors are very nice, the kitchen is updated with a large table, master bed is comfortable with a large bathroom, and our kids really enjoyed the bunk beds. We also like to cook and found the kitchen well stocked with pots and pans.

We had a total of 6 people (3 adults, 3 kids) and it was the perfect size.

The location of the house is also convenient. It's right at the end of Guerneville and on the other side of the river. Many restaurants are nearby and the Safeway is no more than a 10 minute drive. Since it was right after Christmas and chilly we did not participate in any water activities, but it would be a great spot had we wanted to do so. We spent most of our time exploring the neighboring towns and beaches. There are quite a few vineyards close by as well. Kind of exciting to pass by Korbel without even knowing it!

I will only make one very small complaint. The large clock in the kitchen does not work and we all found it annoying to look at the same time constantly for 6 days. It would be really nice if it actually kept time!

Spacious house, good location!

We celebrated my husband's birthday at Gillaroo house. It was very spacious, we had 8 people in our party and everyone had a bed to sleep in. The master bedroom is very beautiful. We liked sitting around the dining table. The kitchen is very spacious, well stocked with pots, pans, dishes. I would highly recommend it to others who have larger parties.

    DAMAGE PROTECTION: Guests choose between a $49 Vacation Rental Damage Protection Fee and a $1000 Refundable Security Deposit. A $30 Processing Fee is added to reservations with the Security Deposit option. The Vacation Rental Damage Protection is strongly recommended and is the option most guests choose. It covers up to $3000 of accidental damage and can be used for many common 'damages,' such as an excessively dirty hot tub or pet-related damage.

    CHOOSING OPTIONAL FEES: If you book through VRBO/HomeAway, both Damage Protection options and the Optional Travel Insurance show in the rates. State your preference in the comments section of the reservation and we will adjust the rates before processing payment. If no preference is stated, we will contact you prior to processing payment.
  • When a reservation is received, we process payment and send an email confirmation within 24 hours or less. Confirmed reservations are final.

    NIGHT MINIMUMS:
