Conveniently located in the heart of the upper peninsula just minutes from Pictured Rocks, Lake Superior, dozens of waterfalls and endless outdoor activities and adventures. My Cottages are located in a private association that is quiet and beautiful. There is about a 100 yards of river frontage to enjoy and relax next to. Cottages range from one bedroom to 4 bedrooms and can accommodate from one to 8 guests. Each Cottage has all amenities included like towels, linens and cooking supplies.
This is our biggest cottage and it easily accommodates up to 10 and also includes extra private property with river frontage adjacent to the garage for your use. The cottage has a full size kitchen and dining room. The living room is equipped with a 46' HDTV with cable and WiFi. Beds include two queens, a full size and two twins. There is a pullout couch in the living room for additional sleeping. Also coming soon is a second bathroom to accompany the main bathroom. The garage has 4 kayaks for your use and space to store your items during your stay. There is plenty of space for parking and the lot next to the cottage has private river access, campfire ring and picnic table for your use.
Included in your stay is a gas grill with propane, a canoe with all necessary paddles and life vests and WiFi. Launching of the canoe is on site and shuttle service is available. A fishing boat w/motor are available to you on site for a discounted rate. Mooring your own boat is a possibility, contact me for details.
The Autrain River provides excellent swimming, and canoeing as well as simple relaxation as it winds 7 miles through the Hiawatha National Forest. Further down river puts you into Lake Superior and quite possibly the best beach on all of Lake Superior. Up river is the beautiful Autrain Lake which provides a wonderful place to enjoy water sports, fishing or just a relaxing cruise. Bass, Walleye or Pike are your most commonly fished.
Pictured Rocks Cruise is only 12 miles away and there are over a dozen waterfalls within a 30 mile radius. The National Lakeshore provides days worth of outdoor activities. I have seen nearly everything in this area and am a great resource during your stay. I will meet with you when you are and give you advice about the area and things you will enjoy during your vacation.
I am a wealth of knowledge when it comes to exploring our area, I am an avid outdoors-man, I camp, hike, bike, ski, snowshoe, ATV, motorcycle, snowmobile and Jeep nearly the entire U.P. and if you have heard of it, chances are I've been there, or done that. I also know some places 'off the radar' if you are looking to get away from the tourist areas. Just ask, I'll be happy to give you advice.
Cory Cole purchased this cottage in 2009
I manage this property for my friends Cindy and Steve, they updated this property in 2014 and it is perfectly set up for large familys and groups. This cottage is part of a private association with it's own river frontage. The property is the best on the river, it has a beautiful view, clean water with sandy bottom and plenty of space to relax. There are 10 cottages on this property (it was an old resort) I own/manage 7 of them for vacation rentals. I was a transplant to this area during high school years ago and left then came back. I couldn't stay away forever, this area is unlike any other. Sure there are beautiful places all over the country, but no matter where you are from, this place is special beyond words...Overall, if someone doesn't enjoy staying here, it would be a first.
It has tons of space, has an additional 2 acres of property along the river that is private and offers guests additional opportunities. The cottage is within minutes of Lake Superior, one of the best beaches in all of Michigan, the Pictured Rocks, dozens of waterfalls, hundreds of miles of hiking trails, biking trails and ATV/snowmobiling trails. AuTrain lake is accessible by boat right from the cottages and has tons of opportunities.
This is a great place for a winter visit. Close to ice caves, waterfalls, snowmobiling and skiing. Well provisioned, warm and cozy (heated garage was a pleasant surprise). Electric corkscrew, well camouflaged in an unexpected cabinet, lead to creative cork removal. Au Train River is very picturesque in the beautiful UP snow.
In warmer months, this place would be advantageous in that the river runs directly in front of it which would be great for kayaking or canoeing. It's also a great place if you have lots of people to sleep. Other than that, it was clean but nothing particularly special about it. It's a good 20 minutes or so to Munising and further to Marquette. My wife and I were a bit concerned that three of the house's smoke detectors were laying around without batteries, however, we assumed this was a temporary oversight (albeit a huge risk to the owner).
We came up for a long weekend and enjoyed every minute. The cabin was just as described and had everything we needed. We are looking forward to renting again!
The house was pretty nice & had a very well-stocked kitchen & bathroom. However, for a house that could sleep 10 people, it was impossible to seat everyone in the kitchen. We also thought there were supposed to be 2 queen beds & 1 full, but all 3 seemed to be full size beds. We enjoyed being right on the river, but wished the fire pit was closer
I would recommend this cabin to any group! The amount of amazing linens made beds extra comfy, and the river that runs in front of the cabin makes this extra cool. As soon as you wake you can start enjoying the water. I was surprised there were not more people at the beach off Lake Superior!? (Which is a 2 minute drive at most). There is no better place to stay in my opinion. Glad I started here.
