About Rodney & Marnie

I am a migrant film worker making movies in New Orleans. My partner Marnie and I came here from Hollywood to work on a film and fell in love with the city. At first we we're VRBO guests, now we're VRBO hosts. We split our time between L.A. and LA. We love to travel and spend any time we can in exotic foreign places. We enjoy meeting people from all over and hosting them in the fabulous city of New Orleans. The culture, food and history are as rich and exciting as any we've found in the world.

Rodney & Marnie purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Rodney & Marnie chose New Orleans

While our neighborhood is quiet and comfortable, it offers easy access to all the fun and festivities of New Orleans. I especially love going to Riccobono's Panola Cafe just a block away. Evenings you can walk or take the streetcar to Carrollton Station for cocktails then carry on to Jacques-Imo's or the Mellow Mushroom for dinner. When in the mood for some more serious frivolity, the French Quarter is only a 15 minute drive. For family fun, Audubon Park and the zoo are close by. We love this neighborhood, so will you!

What makes this apartment unique

* Walk! This neighborhood is very walkable (78 on Zillow) with lots of good restaurants and bars within a mile.

* Convenient access to all the fun of New Orleans.

* Quiet, clean, comfortable residential neighborhood.

* St. Charles Streetcar is just 2 blocks away.

* Taxis are accessible and usually reliable.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Lenette and her family were great guests. Communication and requests were clear and reasonable. They left our house clean and in good condition upon leaving. We'd be happy to host Lenette again and recommend her to other hosts.

A very nice stay in a house that slept eight very comfortable. Full kitchen! Smart TVs and cable plus darn good wifi. Big dining table and a fully stocked kitchen on utensils. Washer/dryer. No complaints! Parking was good. Three blocks from St Charles Street Car. We would rent again. Our questions were answered in minutes. A true find

Beautiful house in a great location.

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in this beautiful house for three nights with our family. There were 6 adults and 5 children. There was plenty of space and the small children slept comfortably on the couch bed.

Pros: the location was convenient to all of the attractions. We took the street car all the way to the French Quarter (this was fun, but make sure you allot around 45 minutes because it makes frequent stops).

We loved that the house was decorated in an upscale modern decor with nice touches. The house came with plenty of towels and extra bed linens, washing detergent, paper towels, trash bags, etc. There was plenty of parking and we were able to easily use Uber one night.

The backyard area was nice and we spent some time hanging out in that space. There is not a grill or outside lights, but that was no big deal.

Our one and only recommendation is that the owners provide more pots and pans for people who want to cook. We cooked dinner at the house 2 out of 3 of the nights. There weren't any baking sheets and what they had was minimal. This wasn't a big deal but we probably would have packed a few pots and pans since we were cooking for 11 people.

Overall, we highly recommend this property. The owners were very friendly, professional, and easy to communicate with. The place was in great shape and in a good location. It might be fun for the owners to buy a guest book so that people can write positive reviews and give suggestions on what they did (maybe they have one, we didn't see it).

If we did it again, we probably would have stayed a couple more days. We had so much fun and didn't get to see everything that was on our list. Some of our trip highlights included eating beignets at Cafe Beignet, eating famous charbroiled oysters at Dragos, going to the WW 2 museum (4 adults, one 14 year old boy), going to the Insectarium/Butterfly Museum (2 adults, 2-3 year olds, 7, 8 year old), going to Storyland Park (good for smaller children), going to the zoo, and the aquarium.

Great house and great location!

  • 5 of 5

We just stayed at this house with a group of 3 couples and it was such a great experience! Perfect location, easy to walk around, close to a park and the street car. The beds are comfortable, the kitchen is fully updated and great. Great house for multiple couples with or without kids!

The house was in excellent condition - clean and bright and up-to-date - and the four bedrooms worked out perfectly.

It felt spacious even with 8 people.

The back yard was a lovely quiet place to sit and we also spent time relaxing in the rocking chairs on the front porch.

We loved the neighbourhood and there was a fantastic place for breakfast two blocks away - Riccobono's Panola Street Cafe.

We were all delighted with this rental and it exceeded our expectations in every way.

(Note that the pull-out sofa is not really practical for extra sleeping, as it is right in the traffic between upstairs and the front door, but it would work if you had to.)

Clean, Spacious, and Accommodating

  • 5 of 5

Rodney & Marnie have amazing homes. I booked both the 2 & 4 bedroom sides for my wedding weekend and they were very accommodating. They responded to all questions within 1 hour. They had all the amenities of a hotel, but with the feeling of a home, it was a different experience. I enjoyed how close it is to everything on St. Charles, and the neighborhood is nice as well. If you are in the New Orleans area, I would definitely book this place.
