Situated on the edge of San Michele Salentino in the heart of the Salentino region of Puglia, this is a traditional lammia that has been extended and updated to provide a lovely modern home. The spacious, barrel-vaulted entrance hall gives access to two double bedrooms, both with air-conditioning. A short corridor through the thick original wall leads to the family bathroom and the air-conditioned en-suite master bedroom. A large air-conditioned lounge with French window access to a shady terrace overlooking the swimming pool, a spacious and well equipped kitchen and a utility room complete the accommodation.
Outside there is a 10m x 5m swimming pool adjacent to the terrace. The property stands in 10,000 square metres of trees, mainly olive and almond but also fig, pomegranate and quince ("cotogni" in Italian, hence the name of the road).
The house is about a mile from the centre of San Michele Salentino, a small town but with all necessary facilities including shops, banks, bars and eating places.
Within easy reach are the Adriatic Coast 30 minutes to the north and, a little further, the Ionian Coast to the south. As a break from the beaches the World Heritage Site of Alberobello, the Baroque architecture of Lecce and the beautiful historic towns of Ostuni, Ceglie, Cisternino and Francavilla Fontana are short drives away.
We provide a welcome pack, including a sample of our own olive oil, to get you up and running and lots of information and suggestions of places to go and things to do during your stay. Books, videos, barbeque and TV are available if you just want to stay around the pool and relax.
