About Charles W McFarland
We bought the home intending to spend the summers in beautiful Idaho and the winters in Arizona where we live. We have enjoyed our brief stays but only manage few weeks each year because of other commitments. We actually enjoy the snow and holidays as much as the summer. Prior to 2014 we hesitated to offer the home for rent partly because we felt so personally attached to it.
Charles W McFarland purchased this House in 2006
Why Charles W McFarland chose CDA
This is a very unique home. As an Architect I appreciate the cozy efficiency of spaces and the simple character of the structure. I grew up in a small town in Washington not far from Spokane and spent summers on the lake around Conkling Park in the '50's with my parents. I always enjoyed exploring the vast lake.
What makes this House unique
This is truly a 'tree house'. It sits on two sloping lots - neighbors are hardly visible. Glimpses of the bay can be seen through the trees. The metal roof sounds wonderful in the rain. Open the windows to the sounds of wild turkeys and boats on the lake.. The upper floor puts you on a level with the tree squirrels. In the morning and evening, deer are frequently observed on the lower lot area. The beach and dock are less than a football field away. Trip to Coeur d'Alene by car is only 15 minutes, Spokane Airport is about 60 minutes, Silverwood Theme Park is about 45 minutes north.

Manager, Charles, is A+... very responsive and friendly before, during, and after our stay in Aug 2018. Property itself is also in great shape and a lot of fun (something different). It's several miles from town, so plan ahead with groceries, etc. Nice that access to a dock is included.
Hi Linda - Glad you enjoyed the Treehouse. I really appreciate the review. Sounds like you were able to bring a boat, Trip to CDA by water is great and not that far. We are planning some improvements for next year and would be happy to have you back.
Unique and relaxing place to stay
Wonderful patio that remained comfortable all day despite the heat. Stay would have been better ihad we had brought a boat. Water is grassy and muddy at the shore so no fun to swim in until you reach deeper water.
Tina, Glad you enjoyed it. Really appreciate the review. Yes, the shallow water has an issue with plant life. Our Association is studying the problem and is looking for a solution - hopefully soon. Meanwhile, we are planning some major improvements to the TreeHouse for next year, hope to have you as a guest again.
Good home base
We enjoyed our stay at the Treehouse. The house was clean, comfortable, and provided a good home base for our stay in the area. The lake is an easy 5 minute walk from the house. The covered patio with grill area was a nice feature that we enjoyed. The owner is easy to work with and responsive. All-in-all a good experience.
Adequate and unique
Enjoyed our stay in the "Treehouse". Very unique place to experience an earthquake (which we did during our stay in July). House was adequately stocked for our family, nice deck below for outdoor grilling. It is on a steep lot with lots of steps to climb in or out. Large parking slab, room for boat trailer and 2 vehicles. Friendly neighborhood. Water at dock is shallow with lots of vegetation, so be prepared to clean your prop. House didn't have AC but cooled down nicely overnight. Overall, had all the amenities we were looking for and made for a memorable family vacation.
Glad you enjoyed it - did not know about the earthquake. Yes, during certain times of the year, vegetation does get excessive in the bay. I hope you enjoyed the fireworks.
Come back next year.
Wonderful vacation spot!
Our family loved our week in the tree house! The house was clean and beautifully maintained. The scenery was so relaxing- we saw deer grazing while eating breakfast. The TV and wi-fi, and BBQ gave all the comforts of home. The quick drive to Coeur d'Alene made it fun for the kids. We also appreciated the private dock where we were able to store our boat for the week. I look forward to another visit someday.
"Vacation News" named Coeur d'Alene among the "Top 10 Mountain Towns in America."
