The location was great and the price VERY affordable. The property is older and was in need of some updating during my family stay, but the property owner pointed that out and made it known ahead of time.
It's perfect for a small family of 4 looking for an affordable week in South Haven. Compared to most properties with the same location, the price for this stay is unmatched. However, it is a fair price for the condition of the older property so be prepared for more of a campy/cabin style vacation. Eat out locally or bring everything you will need to prepare food. The kitchen is limited but functional enough for the basics.
The absolute best part of staying here is that it is pet friendly and the price is extremely reasonable. The duplex is a little older and a bit more minimalist than some other places listed on this site, however, there aren't very many listing that are pet friendly (especially when you are talking about 2 large dogs!) but this place. It includes a very nice back deck with a grill, a large back & side yard, a small swing set for kids to play on, a nice open front room and the two bedrooms are air conditioned making it great for sleeping during the summer. The kitchen had the basics; if you want to prepare gourmet meals there you may need to bring additional supplies. The only thing I really felt was lacking was a washer and dryer so that I could wash the clothes that ended up full of sand at the beach- but even that was a minor inconvenience. I felt this place not only met but exceeded my needs and the owners couldn't have been more friendly and accommodating, they are a large part of the reason that I would not hesitate to rebook this place for my dogs and I if we were to come back to South Haven- thank you so much for making my trip a wonderful experience filled with memories that I'll always cherish!
I rented this cottage near Lake Michigan for a mini getaway with my daughter and a few friends! We arrived to find a run down duplex that only had beds for 4 but states it sleeps 6! There was no washer and dryer and only 6 towels! No beach towels either! It was dirty and falling apart! There were holes in the screens and the floors were like small hills completely unlevel and a fall risk! We stayed one night and spent the next day looking for a new place to stay so wasted a big part of our trip! This place should not be on VRBO it's horrible! I have messaged the owner and agreed to pay for the one night but want my refund for the nights we had to go elsewhere with no reply at all. I would never stay here again
We have been coming to South Haven for many years and really enjoy our family vacations. We enjoyed our stay here and the owners are very nice and friendly! Duplex type property with a nice yard too. Good location and close to beach. Perfect for our family! Needs a bit updating with more kitchen pots/pans/mixing bowls and cooking essentials if your cooking for a family, but overall, very nice!
This was the first time my family has gone to South Haven and it did not disappoint. The area itself is just beautiful! We did not know what to expect, but enjoyed our time. When we booked, the choices were limited so this place looked decent, seemed on the cheaper side, and the owner was nice/responsive so we booked. What we didn't realize is that this is a duplex and the owner lives in the same house but has a separate entrance. It was fine, but it was just strange this wasn't disclosed. It was an older place and defintely could use an update. You get what you pay for. Only A/C is in the 2 bedrooms (window unit), no washer & dryer (a week is a long time to go w/o washing beach towels), and it's a bit run down. We have rented from VRBO before and there has always been a washer/dryer so I didn't think to look. I didn't like that there were no blinds or curtains in the front room so we had to be careful at night. The beach access isn't a far walk but there are several steep stairs you have to climb so if you are planning to take a cooler, prepare yourself. We went to the main beach where parking is $10/day. However, the owners are very nice. Overall, if you are looking for something cheap, this is it.
